This was originally a Star Wars script. Zack was actually in line to direct a film in the franchise. It didn't get picked up, so he turned it into this.
He was never in line to direct. He was scripting it and intended to submit it to Lucas directly. But then the Disney situation happened. He submitted through Disney. They declined. So Zack hired someone else to rework it into a non-starwars story. Initially they were going to pitch it as a series but instead decided on a pair of films.
@@spike5499 I don't know. I'm assuming disney rejected it because it was good. Look at how many promising projects fans were excited about that disney stopped production on when they got the starwars rights.
I enjoyed this movie. The way we are introduced to all the characters in the film reminded me a lot of the 80s movie Krull. The main hero goes on their journey collecting more and more of the gang as they travel. With very little back story for each one added.
@@ant_989 what “agenda” do I have, the movie really wasn’t good, there was excessive use of slow motion, none of the characters had any development, it was super generic and most of the time just looked grungy and boring.
Snyder often struggles at telling 2 hour long stories. I'm more looking forward to seeing the R-rated directors cuts that are supposed to be 3 hours each. Usually 3-4 hours is where Snyder seems to do his best work. His directors cuts are almost always much better versions of the movies. Watchmen, Batman V Superman, Justice League. The non Snyder cut versions aren't even worth watching and frankly gave all of those movies worse reputations then they probably deserve.
Yeah. The theatrical cut of Watchmen, while enjoyable and good, had problems with pacing and even as someone who loved it, I realize that it wasn't for everyone even if they watch it with an open mind. I simply loved the material. It was out of the blue that a friend brought me a copy of the Director's Cut and omg, it's a masterpiece. I think Snyder is the only director who fixed pacing problems with adding in more contents and bloating an already long runtime. As someone who love the source material, his Director's Cut of Watchmen was perfection. Hours just passed by with eyes glued to the screen. The inclusion of the Black Freighter comic storyline added some kind of magic when even in the comic, I never really get what it was all about (not that I know what it was all about or what it's for in the movie either but it fixed the movie. Just an example of movie magic there). I'm not really a huge fan of Snyder. Suckerpunch did it for me but before that it was 300 that I thought was overhyped. Guardians of Gahool felt empty and BvS was a catastrophic failure. I think Snyder is an unique one. He doesn't know how a two hour movie good. He does know how to make a good 3-4 hours movie. Snyder's cut of JL also surprised me. The Whedon-Theatrical version for me was a 2/10 and while Snyder's cut isn't a masterpiece for me but it was easily a 7/10. That's a huge quality bump from stinking pile of trash to "this is good." Having said all that, I found out that there's a longer cut of BvS and to my surprise, the longer cut is working again (haven't finished yet but I disliked the movie when it came out from the first few minutes because Bruce Wayne just happened to be there and saved a child while Superman fought Zod. It was too "convenient" but that's not the case so far with the longer cut. I'm surprised. I still don't think it can be saved in the end, I think it'll still stink with the "Martha" thing but guess I'll find out myself).
netflix wanted 2hr movies, they think 2hr movies does great on their platform. So they made a condition a 2hr movie with pg-13 first, then you can go crazy with r-rated extended director's cut all you want! so each movie will have additional 1 hour content each, but it will be released at earliest in summer. If you have patience and know you'll not spoil the movie before that, then ofc that's best way to watch it. But for me I just can't wait, I will watch pg-13 cuts first, then R-rated cuts later:)
@@hkmrsrg1367 BvS ultimate cut is marvelous. His movies are deep, many of times you miss so much details and words and hints that you get on the second and third watch that it's keep getting better every time! BvS ultimate cut for me is a masterpiece just like Watchmen!
@@hkmrsrg1367 The thing that didn't help the theatrical cut of BvS was what was cut from the movie. It was pretty obvious that the studio made the cuts, not Zack. As for the Martha thing, Clark purposely pulled that as a means to throw Batman off. I don't think he expected it to set off his PTSD. The only real moment that doesn't get explained is how Lois got there in time to explain to tell Batman the connection.
I also watched this over the weekend and deliberately avoided reviews to see if my experience would vary from the reviews... I found it entertaining My expectations were average due to the selling point of a 'retooled Star Wars movie's so I expected it to be derivative and my experience of Snyder movies having poorly executed characters and stories (Man of Steel, Batman vs Superman, Army of the Dead etc..) So I expected a visually stunning movie with interesting looking characters but an execution that would leave you feeling more could have been done...
Rebel Moon could possibly work as a Star Wars story, with the Motherworld being a vassal state of the empire led by a collaborationist regime that's being propped up by empire in exchange for vital resources. I wonder if that's what Zack may have intended in his original vision.
Hmmm your kidding right? This version is at best average, visuals carry the movie, story is disjointed if not predictable and the characters are bland. I hope the actual full version fills the massive story gaps because as it stands I will not be watching part 2 until the full version of it (and also of this first part) releases.
@@power279 she’s been waiting for her big break for 10 years - rebel moon was probably her last chance and she does try hard with the paper thin character she is given but she’s no miracle worker. I’m not a hater but you have to be very forgiving to see rebel moon as anything but average.
I really liked it. Not the best movie made in the past 100 years. But definitely in the top 40% of movies. I really enjoyed the main character. She didn't just man handle people twice her size, and had to rely on weapons, finesse and struggle to overcome her larger enemies, and actually gets hurt, and has a pretty intriguing backstory. I imagine her as a youngling Padawan who gets beaten down, broken, and turned into a Dark Jedi by the Sith Empire, who then has a change of heart, and has to hide in the Outer Rim. Then The Sith Empire comes pushing through and she has to gather up a rag tag team of intergalactic warriors, with one being a broken Jedi General named Kam Bey who has broken his connection to the Force and disavowed himself from the Jedi due to guilt and finding their Dogma to have a sour taste. To then finally lead and come up with the ultimate battle plan to route the bandits from their CROPS! I mean ... Fight off the Empire!
I went to see it and wow I loved it, say what you want about Zack Snyder and his slo-motion cinematography he really knows how to use it, the battle scenes are intense, the acting was great as I really enjoyed Ed Skrein's performance in this (he does a great job as the bad guy even Francis aka Ajax in Deadpool) 10/10 I can't wait for part 2 and for the extended cut (it was rated 15 here in the UK which was quite odd as it would be an hour extra to add more context, bloody violence and other stuff Zack Snyder isn't allowed to put into a 12A film
@@darsmatiason the contrary i believe. People will watch what they want. She hulk and mcu few movies have been praised by the cri ticks 😂 but people showed them their place.
We have been telling stories for centuries. Common themes and tropes are inevitably going to be repeated. So, in a sense, this far into humanity's existence, most stories are going to be somewhat derivative. Star Wars, itself, was derivative of older IP. Being derivative, in and of itself, is not a knock against a film. As long as the reimagining of these sources of inspiration are sufficiently unique, that determines how enjoyable a film is going to be.

The mere fact they've been caught red-handed paying reviewers for positive reviews of certain movies should have killed any credibility they ever had in film/TV criticism. Even without that scandal, they've poisoned film and TV discussions online. Absolutely horrible and just needs to be gone.
Why is Rotten Tomatoes burying this film and not featuring it on the front page? Why does Hollywood have such a disdain for this man? Why do journalists shit on his film but give brain dead films like Avengers all time praise? We are godless. Is Disney and WB paying reviewers to review bomb him in retaliation?

So some how I got it twisted this was in the Star Wars universe. With that in mind, when I watched this for the first time I felt like Star was finally was doing something more adult and different but the same. Then when I found out it was not, and all the hate this movie gets- fuck you it’s no worse than half the trash that’s been pumped out in the last 5 years. Rebel moon was refreshing and I hope part 2 tops it.
I’m glad you gave this movie a chance with a positive view, it’s actually not bad at all, and I loved it. I don’t get all the hate for it. The negative option on Zach Snyder is what I genuinely believe is affecting the audience opinion of this.
Nope. There’s literally a legitimate reason why the movie was panned by critics & many audiences that are not part of the Snyder fan base. The story is TOO heavily derivative of past films like the Seven Samurai, The Magnificent Seven, Star Wars obviously, & Dune. Which means the plot lacks originality & it’s not necessarily a good thing. One of the heaviest criticisms it’s been receiving lately since its release on Netflix, was the severe lack of character development for the supporting characters. Much of Act 2 is the protagonists going from planet to planet to recruit people that will fight for a cause. But here’s the problem, why do any of them would even agree to fight an empire that has otherwise hold dominance over everything? Much of the character development for any of these characters in terms of their motivations & desires isn’t fully explained until near the end of the film thru heavy-handed exposition from the antagonist instead of it being revealed naturally & organically. Plus, you don’t see much, or at all, the interaction between these supporting characters. There’s little to no dialogue between characters like Titus & Nemesis. Or Tarak & Bloodaxe. We are not shown the group dynamic between these characters or how they would interact amongst each other which is incredibly frustrating because there’s little emotional investment to be had for any of them if they don’t even talk to each other. After they’re recruited, much of the supporting characters essentially become background fodder. That is not how you tell a story about a group of characters working together for a common goal. Much of that criticism is being echoed by many audiences that have watched the film since its Netflix release & many are not part of the hardcore Snyder fan base. People that are fans of Zack Snyder, may enjoy this film regardless of its obvious flaws. Which means it’s a very subjective viewpoint. You have to look at the film for what it is & not as a bias Snyder fan & you’ll understand why the film is being criticized the way it is.
@@ant_989 Wow. If that’s your only comeback or counter argument, then you already lost the conversation buddy & have only shown my argument as more legitimate & more relevant. Check the rotten scores from both critics & audiences for Rebel Moon. I’ll give you a hint; they’re not looking good.
Just watched the movie! Very good review! Movie is a great take on the heroic archetypes. Can’t wait for the directors cut. Imma get my family to watch
I thought it was pretty mediocre. Felt like a 20 minute movie stretched out into 2 hours. Why are people praising the action scenes? It was Commando level, where people can waltz across a battlefield without taking a hit. I thought audiences started rejecting that nonsense decades ago. None of these characters were memorable. No quotable lines. Some of the lines were delivered like it was a student film. I could almost see the actors reading off of cards. I think you guys are so starved for a decent film that you are letting a C or even a D sound like an A.

This is one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Simply awful in nearly every aspect. Horrible plot, horrible writing, horrible directing, horrible score, horrible CGI, not one character the viewer actually cares about... there is literally nothing good about this abortion of a film.
The only problem is that Star Wars is already the Seven Samurai in space. R2-D2 and C3PO are the two servants from Seven Samurai- the short one talks but you cannot understand him...sound familiar?
Wow that is a take. This film was all flash and less than zero substance. The endless exposition dumps from characters monologues were grueling to sit through. Empty soulless characters and even the action was boring. The unnecessary slowmo drags out sequences that could’ve been interesting into poorly paced slogs. It’s like Snyder took a book of disconnected random sci-fi concept art and the outline of 7 samurai and put the two together without any actual characters or charm to glue them together
No, it is not. It is little more than a chaotic mess of tired and overused tropes, with no cohesion or unifying story, just a lot of random stuff he threw together, it doesn't mesh into anything resembling an overarching narrative.
I completely and totally disagree! I couldn’t even watch the whole thing. Opted out at the halfway point. The writing sucked and is completely unoriginal. Cora’s story is a complete ripoff of Thanos/Gamora. This film is just a regurgitation of science fiction themes done before. There is nothing original and quite frankly the original Star Wars is a thousand times better. I am done with this garbage pail of nonsense. To the reviewer of this film I am responding to I have just one scene to point out. Why in the hell would a very large space ship and obviously very powerful single out just one small farming community for their needed supplies when they could have just visited whatever was the central governing authority on the planet and had them do their dirty work for with the needed supplies??? This absolutely makes zero sense and shows Zach Snider is more interested in slow mo action scenes than realistic story telling. You sir and anyone who likes this show are apparently made out of the same mold as Mr Snider! Nuff said!
Terrible film. I have sat through some shit in my time but it has been a long while since a film has been as bad as this. Simply awful and just got worse with every minute. Someone needs to tell Snyder that slow motion is not a replacement for some decent action. He's an awful director.
The film looks really derivative from the trailer and not just from Star Wars. You can see things from a ton of movies from Dune to Avatar. I'm stunned Disney didn't sue because it looks like a Star Wars film. I just hope it's better than the godawful Army of the Dead (which was the Wild Bunch with Zombies).
Finally a truthful review. I am pretty sure Disney, Lucasfail and DC have got together and asked all their "top reviewer" friends to torpedo this one based on all their 26% reviews. Ridiculous.
Oh come on, why do you always have to use other films? An epic first part and I don't compare the film with others. If someone does, they don't understand the film.
TL;DR None of you watched the movie. This movie was bad, and I don't understand how so many of you are saying that this is on part with Dune and Star Wars (Edit clarifies one of the characters near the end) After watching the video and reading the comments I am convinced that none of you have seen the movie This movie absolutely sucked in every way. The characters aren't even 2 dimensional archetypes, they're so bland that have to pause the movie every 10 minutes to have someone on screen say, "Ahh, Hero Guy. You are truly badass. I've heard legends of you fighting off an entire army of people on your own" and we as the audience are just supposed to accept that as a cool backstory, rather than actually showing that in any way shape or form At 3:10 JoBlo says that it's refreshing to see a character on screen that isn't invulnerable, but Kora literally is. She takes punches from people twice her size like they're nothing, and there are 0 emotional beats that seem to get under her skin. If you don't believe me, you are remembering the movie wrong. Kora literally explains this directly to the camera within the first 20 minutes of the movie, saying that the Motherworld beat all of that out of her. JoBlo continues to say that it's not fun to see the main lead win every fight they're in and how it's nice to see a movie that doesn't do that, but when??? When do any of the protagonists lose a fight? They are barely even shown to lose the upper hand, let alone actually get beat. "This gives her action scenes more oompf because you don't know how Kora's going to win, or even escape" Yes we do. Every single time she wrestles a gun away from one of the enemy soldiers then shoots everyone. There is no mystery here, no wondering, no urgency. I haven't seen action scenes this dull in a very long time 4:20 "[The farmer] could have been deadly dull, but Snyder does give him solid motivation" I'll agree that his motivation is solid, he wants to protect his people. But he is SO DULL. EVERYONE IN THIS MOVIE IS DULL. I don't care about any of them *at all.* This movie has a lot of payoffs to these character arcs with 0 setup. For a more specific example, the lady with the sword finds the spider lady, who had stolen a child. This is our introduction to both of these characters. The spider lady says she's going to kill all of the human children because she can't have kids anymore, and then the sword lady fights and kills her. When one of the other characters says, "Hey good job there" sword lady responds with, "do not celebrate this death," in a way that sounds like it's a big payoff to a long emotional arc, but it's not. The only thing we know about the two fighting in this scene is that one is good with swords and one wants to kill children. There is no tragedy there, because there was nothing done to actually frame it as such. Further, that scene is when sword lady reveals that she has laser swords that can cut through anything, including the spider woman's body parts. The fight then goes on fire for like 10 more minutes. Why? Why is it so long? Spider has no chance of winning at all. Also, half of the other characters on screen had guns and they didn't just shoot the giant spider. In the hands of a great storyteller this whole encounter could have been amazing and really emotional and it could have been set up in a way that makes sense that nobody else gets involved in the fight and that laser swords aren't super effective against carapace or something. But instead we just got this hollow scene where nobody cares about anything happening I'm picking on this specific example, but it's all of them. The general is an alcoholic, but he gets over it and cleans up off screen. Fake Han Solo recruits people against the Motherworld then sells them because money. Sword lady kills a spider lady to save a bunch of children. Shirtless guy rides a big eagle and then just kinda leaves it behind. Farmer man wants to fight the Motherworld and then sort of does. The rebels show up at the end and all blow up, but the rebel man jumps on the Motherworld ship to sacrifice himself, and then the ship crashes. Rebel girl sees her brother die and then stoicly decides to keep fighting I guess? And that leaves Kora. She was kidnapped by the Motherworld as a child, loved it so much that she helped conquer entire planets and burn them to a crisp, and was so trusted that she was given the task of guarding the imperial princess. And then when the princess died she just... switched sides? Like, seriously? Her entire motivation for wanting to fight against the Motherworld is that she failed at protecting the heir to the Motherworld?
A couple final notes JoBlo said that the movie has an action packed start, but it really doesn't. The movie is 2 hours of characters explaining their backstories blandly to the camera and 15 minutes of action Also, the Motherworld isn't really fascistic. That's a very specific flavor of tyrannical. You can say that it's tyrannical for sure, and that is a very bad thing, but they aren't fascists.
Here's a news flash for you. Everyone who liked the movie did indeed watch it and felt no overwhelming need to publish a forensic term paper about it. Please think twice before demeaning those who have a different opinion than yours.
@@MrNorcal81... This is a comment on a video reviewing the movie. I'm not really sure what you expected to see in the comments section of a movie talking about the quality of said movie. Anyways, if people thought this movie was entertaining or whatever that's fine, you can have your own opinion. What I am getting at is that most of the reasons people are stating for why they enjoyed this movie are just objectively wrong. You can't say you liked this movie for it's vulnerable characters, because there aren't any. You can't say you like this movie for the way it jumps right into the action, because it doesn't. You can't say you like this movie for the depth of the characters, because they have none. The review and a lot of these comments also compare this to Star Wars, saying stuff like "at least it's better than the Disney trash" but this all feels like everyone just taking another chance to agree that the Sequels are bad without saying anything. I truly don't understand how someone can both like this movie AND think that Rise of Skywalker was bad, when Rebel Moon contains all of the flaws of Rise of Skywalker and more. I think this movie used too much slow-mo, but that's subjective. I think this movie had some odd costuming choices, but that's subjective. I think this movie was had bad camera work, but that's subjective. If all of the people who loved this movie were praising those I would agree with you that it's just a matter of taste, but they aren't praising those things. They're praising parts of the movie that literally are not there.
3:35 I understand the point but I do think it is empowering to see a hero that has the power to give justice. Snyder also directed Superman. Wonder Woman in comics in a time was ripped off her powers to make her “more appealing” and less dull… it didn’t work. But yeah. The hero being underpowered can clearly be exciting, I always look for a movie like TAKEN but the protagonist is a elementary school teacher or something like that.
The fact Disney turned it down means it isn't filled with the Disney agenda. Low critic score on RT only makes me want to see it more. Going to watch it later today.
It's a Snyder movie. Most people won't like it because of what Snyder in general lacks as a filmmaker: he's always self-serious and doesn't really understand human emotion. Lots of creative ideas but no solid narrative to tie it all together. That's why his fans are mildly autistic teenage boys. No one else can really enjoy them because the flaws are so glaring and bizarre.
Not interested to much fake background actors performing in front of a huge wall projector just takes me out of the film these cgi are just getting worst in films now
Majority of movie critics are pretentious people who failed to make in in the movie/tv business. These closed minded people believe every action/superhero flick has to have bad slapstick comedy crammed in at 90 second intervals (Batman is the only exception). These intellectually deficient people wouldn't know how to to a technical review if their lives depended on it. They are the purest form of grotesque.
Didn’t I see this movie before? Yeah, in 1960 with Yul Brynner. And again in 2016 with Denzel Washington. Sadly, Zac chose to make the main character a heroine like Disney did with Rey in the Star Wars sequel trilogy. Hope this turns out better. Looks visually impressive but I’m going in with low expectations so I’m not let down too much.
This movie is really stupid. Star Wars is not based on the 7 samurai. Only the Jedi have that element. Star Wars is based on WWII. This 7 rebels trope is so overused. 7 Samurai, Magnificent 7 (and remakes), Battle a beyond the Stars…. Also, the Girl Boss thing is awful and the anachronistic nature of the clothing (overalls, suspenders, neckties, etc)…. The story and characters are really bad. Nothing about this movie works. It makes no sense at all.
I don't know what Snyder did to get all the movie critics against him. They seem to hate on everything he makes. But I find his movies to be entertaining. Not going to say that they are perfect, but they do deserve praise. Waiting to see this, specially the extended version (Snyder Cut)
This movie has awful, boring and non-sense characters with annoying slow mo at meaningless places and the entire thing is just parts taken from other movies that are actually good.3/10
Derivative as can be with another mary sue girl power lead throwing convenient stunt men twice her size around like rag dolls. The whole plot is one massive contrivance.
Good review, I disagree on the "fatigue" comment though... the real reason Star Wars and Marvel is failing is becuase their character are mostly non-relatable and they have no flaws. Just compare Captain Marvel with Captain America and you see what I'm talking about.
Yeah, I saw a review from a RUclipsr I respect, and he pretty much hates everything in this one except the villain, somewhat. He talks so negatively, for example saying Rebel Moon copies lots from other stories and that it doesn't have an identity, that I'm not sure I still want to watch.
Great video! I agree with most of your points, however, your point about Star Wars and Marvel being weighed down by their expanding mythos, I don't necessarily agree with. You can create amazing stories with a history of mythos, only if you put the right creatives on the projects. Individuals who would tell a proper story revolving around the mythos and not on divisive political subject matter. Marvel and Star Wars, meaning Disney as a whole, have put agendas before story, which is why we are seeing a downturn with Marvel and Star Wars properties and why Disney is losing billions.

I really enjoyed watching Rebel Moon at the Paris Theater in NYC. It’s a damn good movie, that borrows heavily from other films and franchises and creates a gorgeous space opera. Zack Snyder is truly a visionary, and I’m not his biggest fan. But the longer cuts of his films are always better than the theatrical cuts.
Too dark. Lol Always found that critism baffling When Infinity War, End game, Rogue one and ZSJL was the at the peak of those franchise, while trilogies like Blade and Dark Knight revived the genre only for the panderverse to destroy it beyond repair.
This is a 3 hour plus movie cut down. They thought it was a good idea to make a short cut and Snyder cut 🙄. They cut out all of the character development and world building and just have all the characters running through the movie without any reason. So Zack hired someone else to rework it into a non-starwars story. Initially they were going to pitch it as a series but instead decided on a pair of films.

Same. I'd rather see the real version.
But blame the studios and some of public for that.
I'd rather get my moneys worth personally.
That's a huge quality bump from stinking pile of trash to "this is good."
Having said all that, I found out that there's a longer cut of BvS and to my surprise, the longer cut is working again (haven't finished yet but I disliked the movie when it came out from the first few minutes because Bruce Wayne just happened to be there and saved a child while Superman fought Zod.

So I expected a visually stunning movie with interesting looking characters but an execution that would leave you feeling more could have been done...
I'll wait to see it myself but I'm getting more Jupiter Ascending than Star Wars from excerpts I've seen.

After the RT scandal, it's clear the film review industry is not to be trusted
It’s sad because ppl think RT is the pinnacle of film reviewing when it’s literally worst review method out there if RT says it’s bad it’ll probably be a great movie IGN gave it a 4 while she hulk and Thor L&T have a 7&8 if you still trust those websites I think you have brain damage 😂😂

I completely and totally disagree! I couldn’t even watch the whole thing. Opted out at the halfway point. The writing sucked and is completely unoriginal. (Edit clarifies one of the characters near the end)
After watching the video and reading the comments I am convinced that none of you have seen the movie
This movie absolutely sucked in every way. The characters aren't even 2 dimensional archetypes, they're so bland that have to pause the movie every 10 minutes to have someone on screen say, "Ahh, Hero Guy. You are truly badass. I've heard legends of you fighting off an entire army of people on your own" and we as the audience are just supposed to accept that as a cool backstory, rather than actually showing that in any way shape or form
At 3:10 JoBlo says that it's refreshing to see a character on screen that isn't invulnerable, but Kora literally is.
"This gives her action scenes more oompf because you don't know how Kora's going to win, or even escape"
Yes we do. Every single time she wrestles a gun away from one of the enemy soldiers then shoots everyone. There is no mystery here, no wondering, no urgency. I haven't seen action scenes this dull in a very long time
4:20 "[The farmer] could have been deadly dull, but Snyder does give him solid motivation"
I'll agree that his motivation is solid, he wants to protect his people.
But instead we just got this hollow scene where nobody cares about anything happening
I'm picking on this specific example, but it's all of them.
A couple final notes
JoBlo said that the movie has an action packed start, but it really doesn't. The movie is 2 hours of characters explaining their backstories blandly to the camera and 15 minutes of action
Also, the Motherworld isn't really fascistic.

I’m always rooting for Snyder. On a visual and aesthetic level he stands out where so many modern big budget filmmakers do not.
Sofia Boutella in anything is watchable.
The fact Disney turned it down means it isn't filled with the Disney agenda. Low critic score on RT only makes me want to see it more. Going to watch it later today.
Movie was incredibly boring, unoriginal, poorly written and even the action was underwhelming by Zack’s standards. Huge disappointment.
I knew it. The robot was sounding like Anthony Hopkins. That unmistakably voice.
No shit Sherlock 😅
It's currently sitting at 13% on Rotten Tomatoes....
and i bet the audience score will be the complete other end.
It's going up. It's 23% as of writing.
@@imaadshahrukh4829 it's at 28% now.
@@poposterous236 yeah that makes total sense in a not at all kinda way.
total waste of time u mean.
So this is not new nothing new, so Zach the Hack, Plagiarized every scifi movie and story + cliche and slapped his label on it.
ANY time when anybody mentions Battle Beyond the Stars. A laserdisc gets its wings
Not interested to much fake background actors performing in front of a huge wall projector just takes me out of the film these cgi are just getting worst in films now
There were several moments were it just looked so obvious they were on a soundstage. Just awful
I don't understand why when making a film they do this knowing it just don't look good
Why do have you to butcher "Michiel Huisman" 😭
Majority of movie critics are pretentious people who failed to make in in the movie/tv business. These closed minded people believe every action/superhero flick has to have bad slapstick comedy crammed in at 90 second intervals (Batman is the only exception). These intellectually deficient people wouldn't know how to to a technical review if their lives depended on it. They are the purest form of grotesque.
This movie was flat, clunky, poorly constructed character arcs, couldn't get thru ACT 2.
Perhaps the directors cut will be better
Didn’t I see this movie before? Yeah, in 1960 with Yul Brynner.
And again in 2016 with Denzel Washington.
Sadly, Zac chose to make the main character a heroine like Disney did with Rey in the Star Wars sequel trilogy. Hope this turns out better. Looks visually impressive but I’m going in with low expectations so I’m not let down too much.
Funny, I think we all saw it first in 1954 with Toshiro Mifune.
This is the best take on this movie that I've heard.
Had no idea this began as a Star Wars. I thought Fellowship of the Ring in space 😎
I thought visually it was very good but the writing not so much idk why he keeps doing sunder cuts
It was a sad attempt to recreate 7 samurai, it's good visually, absolutely horrible story
I don't know what Snyder did to get all the movie critics against him. They seem to hate on everything he makes. But I find his movies to be entertaining. Not going to say that they are perfect, but they do deserve praise. Waiting to see this, specially the extended version (Snyder Cut)
Because his way of telling stories is terrible. That’s the one consistent thing he has in all his films. No one ever complains of his visuals.
Style over substance again 💀
You know a movie is trash and the reviewer is a hack, when they call a movie "a blast" three times in their review.
Better review then other I have seen. 19% on rotten tomatoes clearly not fans. I’m excited!!
Star Wars meets Dune with a touch of Gladiator!
Love Zack Snyder's work and visions!
SNYDERVERSE!
it is best that Disney did NOT get to RUIN this Starwars Movie
This movie has awful, boring and non-sense characters with annoying slow mo at meaningless places and the entire thing is just parts taken from other movies that are actually good.3/10
The robot is the ONLY thing I care about at all. The best part of the movie is the imperium and the nobel guy… all of that is clearly 40k inspired.
It's not a Star Wars rip off, it's the hero's journey doing dieselpunk space opera, and pulled it off.
Loved this movie. I give it a 8.5 out of 10. If you love cheesyscifi this is the best movie since Revenge of the Sith.
it should required to say "Rebel Moon - Part One" so people know not to expect a whole movie. I really hate finding that out at the end of a movie..
32% on Metacritic. Seems like Snyder is bulletproof amongst the Gen Z gamer demographic, but...well, that speaks volumes in itself.
Don't let us stop you from taking your afternoon nap and watching the price is right re-runs....
Congratulations on actually giving a decent and even review that actually reviews and critiques the movie😂 rather than being littered with oddly personal attack towards zack Snyder and trying their damn hardest to tear him down and insult his fan base and using buzzwords and names to jab at them …. Congrats on that dude 😂😂
Should it perhaps have been a series, rather than a movie? That's the feeling I was left with...
So much was rushed or not utilized... SO MUCH!
Or can also be compared to Metamorphosis Odyssey. But M.O. has the biggest twist in the end. A very sad and satisfying finale.
So all the bad reviews are a lie?
@@madhat4090no, it’s really boring, don’t waste your time like I did
Too dark. Lol
Always found that critism baffling When Infinity War, End game, Rogue one and ZSJL was the at the peak of those franchise, while trilogies like Blade and Dark Knight revived the genre only for the panderverse to destroy it beyond repair.
Can you explain how something can simultaneously be over stuffed and too lean
This is a 3 hour plus movie cut down. They thought it was a good idea to make a short cut and Snyder cut 🙄. They cut out all of the character development and world building and just have all the characters running through the movie without any reason. It’s too lean because the scenes aren’t really given a chance to breath.
@@DalrenEmpty1 that's not quite accurate to what they did but explain being lean and simultaneously overstuffed
