it's a hill all right but the trail is around it, not through. that section was along a stream so it was getting flooded often. usually the water would go away after a couple of days but that time something kept the water in for a long time. a land slide perhaps but I'm not aware of any official info about that. in any case, the stairway to heaven is sealed off now, there is a new detour available.
Last time I checked it was still flooded, since October last year. When I recorded that video it was all relatively fresh, now with murky water over rotten foliage probably I would not. It was a fun challenge but I do not see much to gain doing it over again.
When they asked -- So what did you do on the weekend? Jokes apart, I hope crocs do not eat cyclists coz aluminium or carbon fiber tastes like crap. But I've also heard that crocs do not have tongues
