Hi Rosie! I am trying to make this bag for my niece, but she wants it to be bigger on the bottom and about 2.5" wider on the side. You start with 17 sc. How many more sc should i add to make it bigger?
You would need to add more rounds of increases to the base of the bag before you continue to work the additional rounds for the height of the body or you could work a rectangle in short rows - i.e. chain to the width of the bag you want, work a sc in 2nd chain from hook, and make enough rows for the length of the bag you want. Then work around in the row ends for the body of the bag. Hope that makes sense.
I love that this is a sturdy bag. I’ve made so many crochet bags that you cant put a lot in them because they stretch out.
Exactly! I’ve made market bags which are designed to stretch to fit more but sometimes you just want your bag to keep its shape
