This is Awesome!, my dad bought this exact one in 1977 when we lived near Memphis, I think he bought it at Malcolm's motorcycle mart if I remember, memories! Wish I still had it.
I bought one just like it in 1976. It was a year old and I sure loved it. It never skipped a beat. Very reliable and plenty of power for my 130 lbs.
Same here. 1976 and just graduated high school. Took long highway trips. Drove it year round including two winters in Michigan. Below 0 and 6 inches of snow. 95 mph a couple times. Took it all with no complaints. Was at a large bonfire party and a big biker dude asked if he could take it for a spin. (like I was going to tell him no) He came back an hour later. Asked him what he thought and he said "that little fu*#er scoots!" But he did top off the tank. Wish I still had it!
Me too. I bought a new 1975 model in 1976 in blue when I was 19 years old. I wanted the red but they didn't have one. Loved that bike.
Owned a 76 back in 78, rode the tires off it. Also owned the CB350. The 400 was much more fun bike to ride to me. Would love to own another. I'm 66 and getting over Leukemia right now, but still ride on my good days. I'll ride till I can't any longer.
In 1977, at 23, I rode my red 1975 KZ 400 from Tacoma, WA. to Washington DC, down to Ft. Lauderdale, FL. and back to San Diego, CA. took 53 days. Replaced the OEM clutch cable in Ft Meyers, FL. Changed the oil in Ft Hood, TX. Ran it out of gas twice. The first time I rolled down the off ramp blew the stop sign and stopped at the pump. The second time had to push it about 3 miles into town. The attendant said you should have left it on the side of the road and we could have run a can of fuel out there. Yea, the only things that passed me on the way in were a station wagon, a dump truck and four pickups. Nobody stopped to offer any help. Got rained on for may be 6 hours the whole trip. Other that that not a hitch. Got 400$ for it on trade to a KZ1000. I had more fun on the 400 though. I think the bike weighed a buck and a half more than me so the slightest movement I made the bike responded. Going around corners the pipes were usually dragging.
Absolutely beautiful guys. Looks like a brand-new kz400. Somebody's going to be a happy camper.

So,so sweet!!! OMG That would have spot in my living room right next to the LOVE SEAT!!!
That was my first bike in 1984.... Awesome!
Very nice, I rode a KZ1000 while in the Army in Colorado. Great bikes.
Classic! perfect condition
Saw these everywhere in the 1980s. Most were not cherished. Sad. Super fun and cheap transportation. Buddy had one. All he did was add a bikini faring and bags, crash bars, and 2 into one pipe. Got like 50 mpg on the turpike. He traded it for a bass boat. Too bad. I almost bought it.
That's my idea of a proper commuter bike. Just enough go, great looks, durable, dependable and affordable.
