if you havnt watched their rolling stones performance yet, you definitely should! the performance teams vocals in that are AMAZING
was just about to comment this. the performance teams vocals are heavily underrated!
Kerry’s question about could woozi do what hoshi does in the performance unit is a YES. When debuting they actually asked woozi which unit he wanted to be in because he could do everything but he chose vocals and producing. Woozi and dk could be in the performance unit.
hoshi is an awesome singer!! in his king of the masked singer performance he said he wanted to break the stereotype that dancers can’t sing, and did very well!
Wait until they hear the rolling stone version of Lilili Yabbay
Yes this version was crazy❤
yes!!!!
This is why I love unit reverses! It shows how well rounded Seventeen are. They can all sing rap dance! Seriously they are amazing! Hope you get to see more of their unit reverses.
I hope Simon has calmed down now lol. And yeah, we agree each of SVT member is a brilliant, skilled artist.
FYI~ Woozi and Hoshi are called "Two Captains" (Coups is the General Leader)... So yeah, these two all-rounders are respected not just on their units but by everyone. All members, and even most of the trainees before debut, experienced having Woozi and Hoshi as their 'leaders'. That was already the case even if there was no fixed units yet and they were still training.
I think you really should watch '17 PROJECT' soon, maybe after Nana Tour? So you'll be more familiar with how they started:)
Actually before debut it wasnt sure if hoshi would be the leader of the vocal or performance unit or if woozi would be the leader of the performance or vocal unit and vernon was originally in the performance unit
You definitely have to watch their performance at Rolling Stone, yes Hoshi is such an all rounder, they didn't know where to place him at the beginning between the vocal unit and the performance unit
Actually woozi has told us about his trainee days stories so many time. He said that the company weren't sure to put him in which unit at first, because as we know that he really has good vocal, but he also good in dancing. So they ask him to choose between performance unit or vocal, and eventually Woozi himself choose to be in vocal unit. And if you check the inside seventeen where they show us behind the scene of them learning or practicing the choreo, if not hoshi, it's woozi who usually take in charge in leading them and he helps the members during dance practice. And other member that are supposed to be in performance unit was vernon too, but they decided to put him in hiphop.
something quite funny about your commentary on hoshi and woozi is that hoshi is actually one of the members with more writing credits (besides hhu) in the group and is often hanging out in woozi's studio with him. and we sometimes see woozi take over leading dance practices/teaching choreo on inside seventeen. so in a way, they do help each other out with their jobs! but of course they are the leaders of their respective units for a reason and nobody could do their job better than they do. just shows how insanely talented they are :)
Lmao. I loved Simon's angry rant on their talents 😂😂
It was like: "THE AUDACITY!!!" 😂
also! your comment about the prejudice of being a dancer equals not being a good singer is super interesting because when hoshi went on masked singer he did say that one of the reasons he wanted to go on this show was to prove that main dancers can sing too. and he definitely did prove it 😊
The oufits they’re wearing are from the mv “Cheers To Youth” which the vocal unit members wore
also to answer your question about their outfits, theyre from the music video
hoshi - woozi
dino - seungkwan
the8 - joshua
i think jun is DK, then that just leaves jeonghan's outfit
The performance unit totally out-vocaled the vocal unit on the Rolling Stone special version of lilili yabbai, you need to see it. Its transcendent
The performance team did in fact say this was a break for them, cause normally they dance throughout. Though they did acknoledge that they had to lower the key slightly so that all the members could hit all the notes as vocal as a whole are in the higher ranges.
You are not ready for that Rolling Stone performance 😂 Simon will be PISSED
just wanted you guys to know how much i enjoy your reactions and i look forward to your posts every week!!
I wouldn't call them all aces, but they are all rounders. Pledis picked itself up a unicorn in this particular mix of 13 men. This will never happen again. They are truly something special.
💎 seventeen is masterpiece they are all-arounds 💎
Seventeen also do main and lead dancers and vocals within their units like EXO has their main rapper…
So Dino and hoshi are main dancers
The8 and Jun are lead dancers
But they all vocals and Dino is rapper
Hip Hop main rappers are Scoups and Vernon and lead rappers are Wonwoo and mingyu
Vocal unit main vocals are DK and Seungkwan and lead vocals are woozi Joshua and Jeonghan.
But I get what Simon mean like all 13 can literally do EVERYTHINNNGGGG. But they just split into units for more content and then not every mv and performance has all 13. But before they debut they went through constant evaluations and tests which decided their units.
Also you need to watch other unit switches when you are back!!!
The outfits were matching the ones from the video lol.
you neeeed to watch unit reverse from previous Caratlands
upppp
i forgot what kind of song they were performing back then, but i remember the performance unit was slaying a hiphop team song😭 jun was really hot rapping scoups parttt, although i forgot which song was it huhu
Back it up, i think. From last year’s caratland.
I love how riled up Simon is getting at how well rounded SVT is!!!! It makes me cackle with glee but also just as frustrated! We love them 💖
And we love you!!!
honestly i get simon's rants bc me and my carat friends rant like that as well 😂 THEYRE JUST SO FREAKING TALENTED!!!
iirc
-woozi was made to choose to be the leader of either perf or vocal unit
-vernon was supposedly part to be in perf unit
-dino was supposedly part to be in hip hop unit
i think u can grasp this more if u watch 17 project
for simon's question i think the prejudice of dance line not being able to sing as well as vocal line i think it's more on older kpop like 2nd gen 3rd gen but 4th gen on wards i think they tend to train idols to be more all around even with self producing and even learning other languages
for the units i think svts unit is just a more formal name for other groups 'vocal line' 'dance line' 'rap line' and i think it works bc they have lots of members
I feel like in a business POV they made Seventeen have 3 units so it makes it easier for non-fans to eventually enter the fandom through the units. If I were not a fan I'd feel less pressured to get into them knowing that I can actually start with getting to know them in 4-4-5 membered sub-units instead of in one go and as a whole group? It is just an assumption though. I don't think Carats ever have proper discussions about units and the like on a regular day, so I actually appreciate the rant and thought about this whole topic.
Also have to point out, although putting them in sub-units could be limiting their potential or not giving them the opportunity to show off their other skills and talents, Seventeen make it so that all members get the appreciation they deserve. Dino started out as a rapper, but took the effort to take voice lessons and worked hard to be a better vocalist, and look where he is now? He has so much singing lines in their songs to the point that newer fans get shocked when hearing him rap. Hoshi was originally a vocalist, but wanted to be a rapper so he also worked hard and gets rap lines in their songs.
About the stigma, yes there is. Hoshi said it himself when he appeared on Masked Singer that he came on the show to show that someone with a dancer position in an idol group can sing too. This stigma actually goes with vocalists too, saying that they are bad dancers. SVT break that stigma as well. DK himself is a main vocalist but was actually a dance major in high school, as is Yuju who was (is) in Gfriend.
All of the performance unit member can sing well but Hoshi is my personal fav. He is an all rounder really. He is an amazing singer,he is stable and has amazing range. You should see him rapping in back it up(performance unit ver) and of course we all know about his dancing.
I personally think that with their Unit Performance switch, they not only get to showcase how they're all talented in terms of singing, rapping or dancing but i feel like it's way of honing these areas all the more, not remaining complacent 😊 thank you always for your Seventeen reactions! Been waiting for this one 😊
PS. About their outfits, all units also switched them 😆 for the Performance Unit, the outfits in Cheers To Youth MV were used: Woozi > Hoshi, DK > Jun, Seungkwan > Dino, Joshua > Minghao 😊
Hoshi was supposed to be a member of vocal unit so his vocal is really good. and not only him but also all the Seventeen members are have such a beautiful vocal too
First... Today is my birthday, I'm so glad to celebrate it with you 🎉🎉🎉 I had a long day yesterday but saved watching so I can get Kerry to wish me happy birthday 😊😊😊
Second, YES to everything Simon said!!!
Last, enjoy your break, I hope you are able to rest, relax, and have fun before the craziness that is back to school.
Ohhh yessss
Actually what simon say is my though about SVT, everytime i watch them like *HOW CAN THIS GROUP FULL OFF ACES AND SO TALENTED. THEY'RE FULL REPACKAGED GROUP* Like they have everything and can do all of that, but idk why there's a bunch people that ignore it, if everyone in this world aware about "the talent" I swear svt will dominate this industry.. I guess people not ready to accept that and have this conversation.
tbh until now i cant stan other group even i want it :( its bcs svt make my standart high like i cant stop to compare other group with them everytime i try to discover other group.. like svt too perfect for me, *SO EVERYONE PLS LET ME KNOW IF U FIND GROUP THAT LIKE SVT OR EVEN BETTER THAN SVT BCS I GLADLY TO STAN THEM* if not i will be stuck in this diamond life forever (i'm happy tho) but if svt disband i'll quit this kpop life😢
Yeahh and there a lot people that SLEEP ON SVT TALENT, EVERYONE PLS SLEEP ON BED NOT SVT🥰❣️
REACT TO CARATLAND 2023 STAGE OF UNIT SWIPE......... YOU'LL SEE THEM RAPPPING....... PLSSSSSSSSS
I think you should watch Rolling Stone ballad version of lilili Yabbay 🖤
i never noticed their outfits before but now that u mention the8 in a suit.. it he joshua from the mv for vocal unit? i assume everyone else is dressed like vocal unit mv as well then haha
Yes you said it right. SEVENTEEN is really underrated. They maybe really popular in Korea but i think with how much talented they are, they deserved to be more popular globally. Another vocal coach reactor also said the same thing. Pledis sucks at managing It's groups. They just so many talented artists but they just don't utilize them properly. Other newer groups like 4th and 5th gen are already more popular globally bcz their company promotes them but pledis is just so useless. They have artists who can actually sing but they are neglected.
