Thanks for this great tutorial! I‘ve wanted to use this effect for a twitch-overlay of mine and all the other tutorials worked with a previously set background. Of course though as the backgrounds are my different streams that didn‘t work. This worked perfectly, thanks!
what was the point of starting with the dark grey layer instead of having the gradient there from the get go? was that just to reveal the effect at the end of the video?
The glass effect shows up better on a darker colour and the gradient layer at the end was to demonstrate how the effect looks on something other than black, that is a bit more colourful.

Yes! Check the 'Color Overlay' tab, pick a colour and try out the blending modes to see which one looks best :)
