One of the best live performances Ive seen on here. You can actually see and feel the emotions while he plays. And for those who cant appreciate his talent, just doesnt understand music. Its not just about leads and chugging E. Its about projecting your emotions through talent. And this man does it.
A long distance soothe in his guitar. Like a healing from home. Following that north star Wardy... Bring us home....Lonesome for fuel for fire. The Magnificent7
After a recent endoscopy, I was told that I have a bunch of ulcers in my duodenum. The doc said they are caused by stress and he prescribed nexium to heal 'em... Though nexium may heal my ulcers, m. ward's tunes takes my stress literally melts them away. What an amazing feeling when I feel my shoulders tingle and get lighter...
whoever mentioned m ward for president is pretty much right on. his relation to the common hu(man) is as close as you can get. thanks to all who support real music. take care
@kplorange064: you're right, but also consider listening to the intro of bob dylan's track "sara". make shure it's the original album track from "Desire" and no crappy cover. makes me shiver for years now.
@DeadMansBones Well, it's like this, at least for me: Have you ever bit into an orange while expecting an apple? It's a bit of a shocker. I listened to Ward for years before I heard that he and Zooey teamed up. I was genuinely excited to hear their creations, but when I started listening to it, it was like biting right into that orange again. It just wasn't what I expected. It has left a bad taste in my mouth since... but that's the beauty of music... different strokes for different folks. :)
i know for sure i am a m ward fan, and this song was never a top pick for no perticular reason other then my drive to work is only 30 mins and i can only fit in so much m ward.. but this is my first time seeing this song live and i am in awe. this song will be now in the line up for sure haha
@orangesuitcases Music is influenced by other music, definitely, that's how original music is made. People take their influences and try to take it to a new level. Mozart did it, Rachmaninoff did it, Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Dream Theater, Mars Volta, The Flecktones, Rippingtons, and there's new original styles being discovered/created right now. M Wards music might of been ground breaking a couple hundred years ago...
i saw him touring for transistor radio in a small bar in hoboken. i hadnt heard of him but a friend suggested i check out the show. he opened with "you still believe in me," it was unreal. anyone know where i can find a live version of that tune?
I'm sure you are much better. Post a response video of yourself, and I'm sure everyone will give you the same respect you gave this talented and dedicated artist. Have a nice day!
MATT WARD surpasses Dylan and Cohen in my books. He's got the awesome selfmade music to back up his lyrics. Music that puts us all in a pleasant trance of sorts. He is so multi-layered in sound and lyrics. He sounds double-dubbed when he sings, BUT HE'S NOT! HOW DO HE DO IT! He's M. Ward. um hmm....
I realize that. They have two similarities: . They are both young and very technically proficient players. M.Ward writes complicated sophisticated songs while Mayer writes what I would call "bubblegum"
Hey I don't listen to mainstream pop either. This is indie pop which is usually a new version of some old pop music. This shit has been done, over and over and over again... and is still going on. Enjoy!
I think Zooey writes the songs - definitely the lyrics, not so sure about the music - and Matt just arranges them, if anything. In any case, She & Him has sort of grown on me again, but I love M. Ward's solo stuff. And Monsters of Folk - hope that comes back again.
@plusmin09 I guess I get that... I wish I had some witty retort... unfortunately I don't. So congrats... you win. I still like the song though... so uh... take that!
True on how pop stars are easily influenced if not forced to have a producer mostly write the stuff just to conform to the current trend in music. pitiful but true
@aethefox7 That is no way to judge artists. The same was said of Neil Young, so would you have them just crawl under rocks with all of their talent? Just because he plays a harp on some of his songs with a guitar?! Your comment is incredulous.
I promise never again. But allow me to make that comparision that both individuals are very technically proficient and play well. One writes mature sensible -well thought out songs while the other rights trite-BS--Nonsense like "Your body is a wonderland" and "Waiting for the world to change".
@aethefox7 You don't have to call me any names; let's just talk or debate or whatever this is. First, you're calling him a "rip off", which is an insult, since you're not just saying he happens to look like Dylan. I'm guessing that's our main disagreement, but please tell me: do you think Ward is purposefully trying to imitate Dylan? I would find that hard to believe though - I've been listening to him for some time. Second, harp is used all the time as a short version of harmonica.
@orangesuitcases I had heard a lot about M. Ward and a bunch of people giving him a lot of respect. I was just disappointed when I saw his stuff. He's a solid guitarist, just not quite up to what I heard about him. There wouldn't be anything new if there wasn't any difference in taste, so keep on supporting who you dig. M Wards way better than Kesha...............

Robert Fisher well said Robert.
The original transmission date was 10th June 2005 for anyone who is interested!
I literally got chills the first time I seen M. Ward perform
This is 4 minutes and 18 seconds of pure gospel acoustic greatness.
this song just made me go out and get all of M Wards catalog.
m ward so underrated
sitting here with lonesome tears in my eyes watching this. Utterly touching. Love M. Ward.!
Excellent. He really is one of the best around! M Ward makes me happy :D
he's definitely in the top five, in my books.
Geezus, what a simply perfect masterpiece. I can watch this over and over.
he's so amazing. the song takes my breath away.
he's such a handsome man!
A long distance soothe in his guitar. Like a healing from home. Following that north star Wardy... Bring us home....Lonesome for fuel for fire. The Magnificent7
now I remember why I used to love M. Ward so much... I'll listen this again mor often... :)
Best version of this cracking song 😍
One of the best live.
Top notch. One of the best of our generation.
Simply one of the best.
Top dollar. Love M Ward.
Incredible voice, just gives me shivers
What made me fall in love in the first place and continues to again and again.
his lyrics are amazing
I like this version, even though it's slower than the album version. M. Ward is a great singer/songwriter.
Great M.Ward live song
Marvelous Ward!
Beautiful !!!

i just love him
I cried when I watched this; it was too sweet . . .
How does he do it, really. Magic.
M. Ward for President!
love.lovelove.love.
Fan-fucking-tastic is right on. This is amazing. Such a great rendition of this song, especially with the harp.
harmonicas are great. so is m ward. :)
this was in mid June 2005 (same night as Plantlife were on); first time i saw him and went and bought the album - this is the best song on the album
You're right chermany. That album is an epic work of art.
The intro sounds like Chinese Translation!
Awesome songs
How sweet.
Fantastic.
Seen him support Feist in Glasgow and he was very very good, met the good man after the show and got his autograph.
This song sends chills. Another song I love that feels like this is Elvis Perkins’ “Chains.” Another one: Little Joy “With Strangers”
m. ward for president
Nice...Reminds me of my vacations. Well done!
sensational...thanks!
WOW!
i definitely agree with you
I hear so much louise Armstrong is his voice.
love his guitar like a strange sound..
Ugh....Hurts so good.
Indeed, I feel the same way my friend.
Mine to and applauding...
magic
I am greatful.

saw him at twilight in utah...awesome show. he's a pretty modest guy.
it's fantastic to see him performing without a baseball cap on!!!!! =)
unas de las cosas mas bonitas que escuche
Wow: Awesome technique and he writes sophisticated songs, John Mayer look out!

@KatieinaLull This is from the album Transistor Radio.
id never linked him to tom waits before, but you're right!
pathos, deja vu and nostalgia- like missing someone but not knowing who
@Korynnn he doesn't need Zooey, but they make beautiful music together.
@Korynnn he's basically just always amazing... no matter what
Yup
Like a young Tom Waits
i know for sure i am a m ward fan, and this song was never a top pick for no perticular reason other then my drive to work is only 30 mins and i can only fit in so much m ward.. but this is my first time seeing this song live and i am in awe. this song will be now in the line up for sure haha

I love M ward. Can’t find his tab books to buy anywhere online..can someone help?
absolutely amazing. wow. lol
epic

More harmonica!!

My life story.
way better than the actual recording

Yes it fucking is Joel

rave on pal, i'm inspired.

WOnderful song ! :)
Thanks to 1Jisom for sharing this one =)
Yes,Nice song-Listen to Danny O'keefe "Good Time Charlie's got the Blues" I think
M.Ward basically got inspired from this song.
Does anyone know what key this is in?
which ep is this from?
i cant stop watching this.. hes like a mutant combination of nick drake and tom waits. fuck.
Does she write songs? I've only seen her compositions with Ward.
@deadheadfan71 Have you heard of "The tallest man on Earth?"
@plusmin09 Indie pop, eh? Sounds like the blues to me.
I think Zooey writes the songs - definitely the lyrics, not so sure about the music - and Matt just arranges them, if anything.
In any case, She & Him has sort of grown on me again, but I love M. Ward's solo stuff. And Monsters of Folk - hope that comes back again.

@Korynnn but Zooey needs Ward and i think she decerves his support

None better.
Please don't ever mention John Mayer and M. Ward in the same sentence.
