The Hungarian Folk Tales stem from original folktale collections, every episode has its special authentic ornamentation. The makers used the decorative art of a certain countryside region at each episode. The trio of folk art, folk music and folk tales are masterfully combined in the episodes, which have unique imagery, sometimes spicy folk humor in the dialogues. Thanks to the natural presentation of the storytellers, and the music of the Kaláka band, the viewer can experience something unique and special.

I like to listen to these to relax, but, that soldier and the witch dogs one was strangely exciting. It'd make a great movie.

@@aAlyssN Right? But a lot of these stories are about backstabbing people over gold.
@Kayleigh George Actually, I think it was the gold. A LOT of Hungarian Folk Tales are about betraying people for money. 😅
@Kayleigh George Yeah, but, usually the poor people can't compromise at all. It's murder a friend for ALL the riches or nothing. They tend to not be okay with just living comfortably, they slay people to go from the most poor to the most rich.
I beg you guys keep posting - this content is really helping me through taking care of my grandmother during these final months.

Huzzah for making it to episode 90.
The first story was sad. The girl might be greedy at first as to want to be a queen but then, who wouldn't? The marriage offer was opened to everyone so of course no one would wanna turn that if they could.
And she really literally just want to marry the king and that's it, that too only after she was brainwashed by her mother. It is not like she wasted the kingdom's money, instead, she helped the king make more gold everyday.
She even became sadder and sadder as time goes by upon thinking that she would have to give her body and soul to the devil because she already started living happily with the king.
The king too has some kind of a character development where at first he don't wanna marry an ugly girl but later on came to love her and her looks and feel sad when she became sadder and sadder. He even happily went home to tell his wife a joke in order to cheer her up. I think this was the sweetest moment in this story.
Unfortunately, when he found out that she made a deal with the devil, he got angry instead of being more understanding and forgiving, and as for the girl, she also somehow became so anxious and furious and turned into tar.
Hm...and here I think it was cute when the king and queen were together.

Mr Cricket made me wonder, how far does P.Ramlee went out to get an idea for his movies?
If anybody from Hungary has watch "Nujum Pak Belalang",( ruclips.net/video/bgYx0n_EYOA/видео.html ) They can see why this P. Ramlee guy is a genius.
He adapted Mr Cricket, and he combined Malay folk tales with many other folk tales into this movie!
I don't think the girl in the 1st story is actually ugly. I'd say she's more "homely.". Until the end. Then she becomes truly ugly.
