He doesn't stop them because he's so naturally funny he can roll with it and make it special.
Giving a person the V's, or the two finger salute is the same as the american 'giving the bird'
That’s what I thought. Thanks for clarifying!
If you do that here it basically means up yours, eff off etc.
You can do it if you do it the other way round though
The thunder and ship horn were probably exactly what they sounded like. For instance, the Echo Arena (where this could have been) is right on the banks of the River Mersey Port of Liverpool, which is a busy shipping route and ship horns are LOUD.
Oh! Good to know! How funny!
Except the clip shows the gig was in Dublin....also a port lol.
The first person shouted "Was it raining?". That's why he responded "No it wasn't raining".
British culture can be very hard for non brits to get. When we are polite. We are polite to strangers. We have certain automatic polite tics. If we bump someone we apologise even if its not our fault. To friends the Banter can be brutally no holds barred. So a comedian will go one step further than that. Peter Kays persona is friendly. The atmosphere is as if we are all friends at the pub. No one who pays to see him will take offense. Because of British 'banter' our culture is not as sensitive. We are expected to be able to laugh at ourselves. I once heard an extremely smartly dressed woman say consolingly to another in a pub( it was 6 o 'clock after work and they were not drunk). 'You've had a hard day come here you tired old slag let me give you a hug'. They were obviously really good friends. We save our most insulting language for those. By the way the translation of the slang 'slag' would be loose woman, tart, prostitute. In this case a sign of deep affection.
Thanks for doing more Peter Kay guys, If you do his weddings video it will make my day.
Yes, I second that!
I agree, it's spot on😃
The two finger salute goes back to the archers in the Anglo French wars. If the French captured an English archer they would cut off his two fingers that held the bow string. Prior to a battle English archers would raise up their two fingers to taunt the French and show them that they were intact and ready to fire their arrows.
Urban myth mate. Nice story though
That's total bollocks! 😬
@@philhallbrook7008 Let's not let facts get in the way of a good story though.
@@neilcarpenter2669 exactly...
You can shoot an arrow, but firing one would destroy it... eventually, stringburn would be the least of your worries as trying to nock a burning arrow would cause endless problems, not least of which would be the feather flights singing away before you could loose the arrow.
Not sure when these clips were filmed, but to give a time reference of how old, this year he's doing his first stand up tour in 12/13 years.
The 2-finger v-sign is the British equivalent to the middle finger in the US.
Two fingers is the same as the middle finger in the UK (which we also use 😁)
That drunk Welsh girl is from my hood, Barry Island...lol...makes sense!
The saying off her tits or off his tits just means blind drunk I've heard it being said to men and women
Fun fact, the two fingers thing supposedly came from robin hood days. Archers would get there fingers cut off, they would throw up two fingers to show that they still had them.
This is bollocks, I used to think it too but a little research shows it's false.
TWO fingers actually means something in the UK !!!
2 fingers is "up yours"
Sticking 2 fingers is equivalent to the middle finger. It was used a lot a few decades back but gradually, due to American TV the middle finger is now used. Older generation may use the 2 fingers still but its quickly being replaced with the middle finger gesture here.
First. heckle "was it raining"
Wet shirt? "Peter's Trip To The Dentist | Peter Kay: The Tour That Didn't Tour Tour"
yeah 2 fingers means what you said! lol!
The "whoop" was not a woman, It was Nick after he saw Chris Woakes sat nearby.
7:13, yes he did. Watch the dentist trip video.
Your next Peter Kay is this I hope "The Worst Phoenix Nights Auditions Of All Time | Peter Kay Comedy" synopsis behind this series Peter Kay is the manage of a working men's club very popular in the 60's 70's and 80's both men and woman and family events took place today most working men's club have now disappeared if you like it here's a second one too "The Phoenix Club's Family Fun Day | Peter Kay"
You said you like his accent which is from Bolton like English cricketing legend Freddie Flintoff accent also.
Two fingers is the same as one finger. It’s not being polite 🤣
Be careful with the two fingers if you come to the UK😅
The two fingers does mean f’u in the UK
Guys don’t lose the fact this is comedy, not on the streets.
Imagine organising for night out see your favourite comedian , ( not cheap )
Why heckle. What about music gig does it go on
It's called the two fingered salute and does mean f you
I want to suggest you listen to frankie Boyle...... but im not sure you guys are ready....he makes jimmy Carr sound like an audience with the pope...
sorry dude i only watch this channel for jodi's reactions i dont give a rats about your reactions only joking o man jodi's reaction when he said "you could breastfeed a crash" now that was a reaction
Haha. I don’t blame you. Thanks for watching.
The whooping was most likely the woman's laugh, there was a woman in a pub I went to year's ago and she laughed exactly the same she only whooped she didn't make any other kind of laughing sounds.
How interesting!
We're getting as bad as the US unfortunately the shi@t always starts in America 😂
The reason why we give the 2 finger v is because the French used to chop off English archers fingers when they were caught hundreds of years ago so they couldn't fire the bows anymore.
Our 2 finger v salute is an F YOU to the French to show them we still have our index and middle finger and we can still fire a bow and arrow.
The wet shirt is from him dentist sketch which he must have done previously.
The uk isn't as sensitive as the U.S and we have a huge thing of having banter with each other, the uk banter and friendly insults is part of who we are.
Not entirely true about the French at Agincourt , there's recorded events before Agincourt of the 2 fingered salute , no one really knows where it came from, just Agincourt is the one most widely used , if enough people believe it, then it must be true

Did you know in English stand up comedy, the heckler is a plant, a payed actor. Always been that way. Same as hypnotist, and clairvoyant.
😂😂 make your subs private 😜 good lord...I'm getting the word....nonce 😂😂😂
Two fingers with the palm of the hand to your face IS like giving the finger in the USA...
You mean the dorsal side of the hand
@@glastonbury4304 Which part of my post is causing you the issue? Is there a word you're having a problem with?
@@daveofyorkshire301...ask your teacher in the morning 😉🤦😅
@@glastonbury4304 ask my teacher about what part of my post YOU are having problems with?
There so much wrong with that post I don't know where to start. Maybe if you concentrated on the subject and responded adequately to it instead of spending your time trying to figure out which emojis look good?
That's better, you're learning, just a friendly bit of banter 👍😉
The two fingers stems from when we were at war in the middle ages with France, english longbow men would have their two fingers cut off by the French so they couldn't shoot their bows when they were captured, hence the two finger salute.
But yeah, the rest of the world doesn't have the cancel culture of the U.S.
Nah two fingers basically means fck off over here. goes back to medieval times
