For me, Novak is the best to have ever played. Skill, determination and never give up attitude is tops but how he handles the pressure points is beyond impressive. I thought he would lose this one. He looked down and out halfway through that 2nd set and he still persevered. Shame on me for doubting him. Novak, you the man!
Carlos also did an amazing come back in the 3rd. But Carlos played just a bit too short on his forehand to hurt Djokovic in the third, he was not resetting Djokovic's position relative to the baseline with deeper shots. His 1st serve percentage also dropped in the 3rd. He knows exactly what he has to work on.
Novak ha tenido mejores rendimientos a lo largo de su carrera. Obviamente por el tema físico y edad, tuvo que dejarlo todo sin duda, hasta hace un tiempo, mentalmente no lo quebraban así.
It's unbelievable that a man like Alcaraz has come along and he's being able to push Djokovic beyond limits he has probably not touched before. Seriously, this was the greatest 3-set non-slam final in history. The level has been raised like never before.
Rome 2005, Rome 2006 (5 sets with match points saved by Nadal against Roger), Nadal-Djokovic Olympics 2008, Madrid 2009, Indian Wells 2011 were better non-Slam matches IMO. But this could be a solid top 6 of all time in non-Slam matches.
Also, Djokovic is 36 and not at his best. Of course he has been pushed to this límits before. A better, younger and fitter viersion of Nkvak has lost Masters 1000 matches to Fedal many times. In fact, Nadal leads Djolovic 10-7 in Slam meetings (including 2-1 at the US Open). So you saying no one in the history of tennis has challenged Novak like Alcaraz is ridiculous ignorance.
I don't think people realize how absurd it is for Novak to still be playing at such a high level at his age, and still winning major trophies against ANOTHER generation of athletes.
It's a honour to be able to watch these 2 battle it out. The amount of jaw dropping shots both these players make during a match is legendary and the respect they have for each other is always evident.
In late 2000, fought with Federer and Nadal. Completely dominated from 2011 to 2020 with Federer, Nadal, Murray, Delpotro, wawrinka. After 2020, fighting with Sinner, Ruud, Alcaraz, tsitsipas, Zverev, medvedev. This is more than enough to call Djokovic as the GOAT.
Dominating nadal is not true H2h 30-29 is no domination. In 2020 novak was smoked by rafa at rg 6-0,6-2,7-5 was the score and you say domination. Wow. Only on hardcourts he dominated him brother don't fool around. But he was killed on clay by rafa 20-8 for information
There is no one better in adversity than one, Novak Djokovic. Astounding feat of grit and determination. Wow. Edit: 1.5K likes. God Damn 😂 Came back to watch this again. Unbelievable from both. Still can't believe Novak pulled this out. Clutch is sn understatement. Coming from the biggest Fed fan.

The match of the year and once of the best matches in tennis history. Both gave everything, blood sweat and tears. Djokovic fights an incredibly fit Alcaraz, from a set and a break down, battling a heat stroke AND saving championship point to win an almost 4 hour long match. Insane. The US Open is going to be fun.
Novak calling the trainers at the most opportune time of the match for himself to break Carlos's rhythm and give himself time to recover... For me, Novak is the best to have ever played. Skill, determination and never give up attitude is tops but how he handles the pressure points is beyond impressive.
I thought he would lose this one. He looked down and out halfway through that 2nd set and he still persevered. Shame on me for doubting him.

Hahaha the Djokovic haters are everywhere
Carlos also did an amazing come back in the 3rd. But Carlos played just a bit too short on his forehand to hurt Djokovic in the third, he was not resetting Djokovic's position relative to the baseline with deeper shots. His 1st serve percentage also dropped in the 3rd. He knows exactly what he has to work on.
Djokovic had to summon every ounce of his legendary mental strength to win this one, against a worthy opponent who refuses to lose.
i saw him reaching max level in the end of the 3rd set.. he has always 1 more gear
Exactly my thoughts, too. I think after a while Novak has something to bite for, someone who can push him beyond his level at this point
Greatest if you enjoy average serving.

Novak is my sporting hero. To be playing like that at his age is amazing. Love Alcaraz as well. What a final.
Djokovich had millions of important final matches.Alcaraz only 2-3 finals only.Novak much experienced player.
The greatest of all time comes through again!! Remarkable. What a great rivalry this will be to cap off Djoković’s career. Finally a worthy rival from the new generation.
Staying awake in germany to see the whole sensational Finale is one of the best decissions in this year from my side. Thank you so much for this great game. THANK YOU. Novak, you are the GOAT.
Playing the greatest wall in the history of tennis will never be an easy task. Chin up carlito, you fought well! You'll have your chance again. Tough loss and your passion was felt through your tears. Djokovic is the greatest player to ever play this game, there is no more contest about that. I am so glad to witnesd history being made at each tournament where he plays. He'll keep writing history for many seasons to come. Much deserved win for the GOAT. ❤
Welcome to the era of Nolcaraz!! Yet another absolute EPIC from this rivalry! May we witness many more 🎉❤

Absolutely legendary. This match will be remembered for a long long time. Especially when Carlos dominates the scene for many years to come.
I'm not sure if Novak will ever beat him again. But that was awesome.
What a match, unbelievable that Djokinic keep up after the problems he had in second set, mad respect!
It’s incredible . The most beautiful and rivalry match of the year 2023. Bravo Novak bravo Carlos
