But Carlos played just a bit too short on his forehand to hurt Djokovic in the third, he was not resetting Djokovic's position relative to the baseline with deeper shots. If Djokovic somehow wins 30 grand slams in his career, to me I don't think their should be any doubt about eho is the greatest sports player of all time. Before last few years, Federer was considered as one of the greatest athletes ever. And Djokovic playing easily in the toufhest era of this sport, spending most of the time against Federer and Nadal, two other greatest players of this sport, facing both of them nearly 60 or more times in his career, and now facing another GOAT potential in the making at 36 years old... If somehow in this ultimate competitive era he wins 30 grand slams, I don't think any other athlete was even close to Djokovic in his sport. Seeing how Federer was one of the greatest athletes ever few years ago, and seeing someone who wins 10 slams morr than him and destoys him in every other stat of this game... That's true something from another universe. I will say again, this was definitely the greatest era of tennis.

get his way. sinner is finally coming into his own which is great for the sport. but has zero grand slams so far. who else rounds up the “top players” pack? ruud, fritz, paul, rublev, hurkacz, de minaur (lmaoo), khachanov, tiafoe… i mean don’t get me wrong they are all solid players, but cmon, they all lack that last bit of push to get them over the edge. and these are the top 20!
at least during a previous different era, there was delpo, prime murray, prime nadal, prime federer, prime wawrinka (beast), cilic, and others with grand slams or at least deep grand slam run experience that were rounding out the pool of competition. (like ferrer, tsonga, monfils, berdych, nishikori, etc..)

In the vast stage of tennis, when one carefully observes the critical voices that hover around Djokovic, one cannot help but be struck by the impression that he is portrayed as the Richard III of this noble sport. However, unlike Shakespeare's somber figure, Novak emerges as a craftsman of sacrifice and discipline, tirelessly carving his path to the pinnacle of sports history.
My admiration blooms when contemplating his authenticity, both on and off the court. In an environment where apparent perfection is the norm, Djokovic is a genuine human being without the need for deceptive masks. Within him, the spirit of an indomitable warrior burns with a passion that inflames the hearts of his admirers.
The very essence of Djokovic is rooted in his ability to transcend an era that, at one point, seemed poised to relegate him to obscurity. However, he, like a phoenix, rose from the ashes of skepticism and forged his own destiny. Each of his victories is a testament to perseverance amidst adversity, a reminder that his greatness does not lie in superfluous elegance or the formalities of bygone times.
Therefore, I am deeply grateful, beyond all reasonable measure, for having closely followed the narrative he has woven on the tapestry of tennis. With his determination and character, Djokovic has penned a story that inspires us and reminds us that greatness arises not only from skill but also from an unyielding will to build an enduring legacy.

Novak calling the trainers at the most opportune time of the match for himself to break Carlos's rhythm and give himself time to recover... I'd be a lot more inclined to believe he's really suffering from heat stroke or anything else if he hasn't done this same thing his entire career. It's absolutely been his MO and the other top players have even made reference to it many times throughout the years. It's gotten to be like The Boy Who Cried Wolf with him...Regardless, amazing match. Just hope he doesn't do the exact same thing again in the US Open Final.

Did you watch the game? Carlos didn't take a 2 game lead, Djoko hit 3 doubles in a row, it was an early Christmas present!!! This is unheard of. He was playing 50% of his capacity, he is 37 and can't keep up anymore. Apart from Carlos tennis is dead, these youngsters are trash. Wawrinka hitting Tiafoe off the court tells you the story of today's top tennis. Or Murray beating the youngsters with 2 metal implants.. This is the lowest level of tennis I have ever remember. :(
