    Dude. I have 29yrs in as an engineer, and this is without a doubt one of the best videos I have seen. You hit it on the head with some of these guys.
    Here are a few you might want to add. Why do so many foamers who put videos up on RUclips always end their titles with several exclamation points, like they have some kind of rare or epic video. While on that subject, stop using the word "Epic" guys.
    Second, the latest catch phrase amongst the younger crowd is "horn show" or "horn action." Get over it! Good God it's just a horn. And stop pumping your arms trying to get the engineer to blow the damn thing. It doesn't work when someone does it to me.
    Third. Why do so many of these young kids feel the only way to get a good video is to set up right off the edge of the Ballast or on the yellow line at a station platform? Get the hell back! You guys have no idea what may or may not fly off a moving train!

Why can't these people just enjoy the hobby without crying their hearts out because they didn't see a particular unit. imagine "railfannning" and only wanting to catch heritage units and -8's lmao. I like the unique shit you don't see a whole lot of anymore, like catching a Norfolk Southern high nose GP 38-2 pulling a local manifest with a caboose at the end (yes NS around my area in Indiana still use cabooses), or even seeing a short line railroad running an ALCo C424. Those are more enjoyable than any -8 catch and most heritage units.

    I've had some kid stalk me off and on for two years literally begging me to go railfanning with him. He's made several accounts posing as some foreigner using Google translate to hide whatever comments he was trying to make in English. It all started after he threatened me several times (while using his main account) after I deleted some of his spam comments he left on my videos that were unrelated to the videos. He kept questioning me why I wasn't at a specific location at a specific time, when I told him I had to work at that time. He assumed I was using work as an excuse to avoid him, when I only knew the kid in-person for a total of FIVE MINUTES! And sorry to say, but I'm a 28-year-old adult male who lives alone. I'm not gonna' spend my whole day waiting for a train with some random kid I've only known for five minutes! To this day, he still pleads for me to unblock him from time to time, when I already know what he'll do and say. I already gave him two chances, and he blew both opportunities to redeem himself. Didn't learn anything, and still kept harassing and stalking me, acting as if I'm a bully and the one at fault here. Kid was never taught the word "no", and doesn't know how the real world works.

    The curiosity about NS 1700s horn can be explained by the fact that 1700s horn was relocated when she was restored to its original (Erie Lackawanna) paint scheme. The horn used to be located on top of the cab on the forward right hand side. Furthermore the horn was built on a 'lopsided" manifold (Leslie SU-3L-R) . As a lifelong EL buff, I had an idle curiosity about whether NS 1700 still had her original horn after it was relocated. Now I know that the horn was changed to a standard S-3. Anyway, this pusbrained SUPERfoamer got his video of a SUPERtyfon. Now he needs to get off the property and STAY THERE!!!!!

    In regards to the person who quit railfanning over being unable to catch any of the big ticket stuff, I say they're impatient. Due to circumstances, I'm unable to go on regular railfanning excursions, but I try to take advantage of whatever opportunities I can get to do some. I don't care if I don't see any heritage units. I'm just looking for stuff that's mildly interesting-- uncommon foreign power, cars bearing fallen flag markings, odd loads, or even just some really fancy graffiti. One doesn't need to see UP 4014 further east than Chicago or both Conrail heritage units back-to-back to have a good time catching trains.

  • @robertmiller5217
    @robertmiller5217 11 месяцев назад +3

    Uhmmmmm... excuse me but foamers of today aren’t true foamers. So here’s the story behind the term, straight from the horse’s mouth.
    At the time (1971-ish) the Feather river wasn't as pristine as today, Its habitat restored over last 40 years. Prior to that there were many lumber mills, their log decks kept constantly wet with sprinklers, log ponds and the water supply was always stagnant; water loaded with chemicals, solvents, lubricants and other petroleum products, herbicide or pesticide run off from large farming outfits and who knows whatever else. In back waters, pools, eddies etc, the water would foam up like detergent (which it probably was in part) because of all the crap in it. However, and never to be deterred, the most intrepid and determined photographers would wade into the stuff to get that perfect shot, at the perfect angle and hoping for that elusive but fabled ferrous holy grail.
    These people were referred to by train and engine crews as “foamers.” Today it is taken to mean a rabid rail fan foaming up at the mouth, but this area is where the term originated and what it truly references. But this becomes problematic here, some 50 years down the pike.
    To be politically correct (required here 50 years later) and historically accurate we must find a new moniker for what were known as latter day “foamers.”
    The only things I could come up with are “Bush Bunnies,” “Ballast Flies,” or “Diesel Sluts.” (Which reminds me. How come I’ve never seen or heard of a female foamer?)
    Any suggestions? Leave ‘em in comments.

    Some of these are legit. Some were you not understanding. The Soviet union was CCCP, and it was even in a similar font. It did look like the Soviet logo.

    I call them simply "interpretive trains". Its like interpretive art, except trains. You can interpretive as a unique look on how trains can be really simple if you look at them in a certain way, how trains would look if we lived in a carton world, or maybe even interpret it as a simple representation of modern public transport. That way, the drawings dont annoy you as much!

    2:45 Not Railfan related but this is my reaction to FNAF R34 of the Missing Kids (Gabriel, Jeremy, Susie, Fritz, Cassidy and Charlie), The 2 Afton kids (Elizabeth Afton, the Crying Child/Evan), plus Young Mary Schmidt (FNAC) and some others, which sexualized these kids who are 12 or something (since I'm a railfan who also likes FNAF)
