The king still misses his queen though. The look he gave to the Queen's Dictionary was heartbreaking. SY will make a better queen for her country, but the king could have married HJ and had the same kind of married life as he has with the real SY so I feel like he got jipped there. A part of him will always feel the loss.
The ending is kind of disappointing to those rooting King and Bonghwan 😅 but I guess this is the best ending we can have if we want happy ending on both worlds (Joseon and Present Korea). I just hope that they added a love interest for Bonghwan in the present time (and this time it's the King's reincarnation 🤣🤣🤣)
Yeah, that was the only disappointing part, I really want BH to be the reincarnated of the Queen and King will be reincarnated as a woman too in the modern world.

SPOILER : I just finished watching the ep with no sub, and i am so satisfied with the ending ❤️,,, soyoung is back to her body living her dream as the queen with a loving king, and bonghwan is back to the modern world and i think he will live his dream as the president chef again! After they caught the cheater mr Han ,,,, so it's a win win for both of them our soyoung and bong hwan.... And the queen personality is now stronger and more fun... I guess! Also , iam so glad she remembers everything ,,,, SO HAPPY 😊 💕💕🌼 (sorry if my eng is bad!)
I'm with you! Though I feel like we're a minor sector who is wholly satisfied with the ending overall. But it's really the ideal happy ending for everyone involved because if BH stays or SY stays gone forever, it's not a 'happy ending'. Though I was hoping for a final 'conversation' between BH and SY, as well as SY and CJ.

Even with a happy ending, the King can feel that something is missing and will always have that feeling. The personality he fell in love with was a mixture of the Queen and the Chef, without the Chef's wacky personality the Queen is just another regular girl.

I do think whatever everyone’s thoughts are, this drama entertained us for a few months and brought us laughter. Putting the logical sense and purpose aside, the biggest thing for me from this drama is Shin Hye Sun and Kim Jung Hyun’s off the wall chemistry and wonderful acting skills. I really need to see them in another drama together ! I saw A lot of other dramas by Shin but her coupling with Kim was like a match made in heaven ! Lol I need to hope that revenge in penthouse season 2 is as sweet as advertised to fill my empty feeling of no more Shin and Kim!

After reading a lot of depressed comments about the ending being imperfect, I just wanted to say if the king thought things were truly wrong at the end - he would have shown a different attitude. Just look at how he was with Hwa Jin. He didn’t love her anymore but still felt obligated to care for her. He didn’t do that to the real queen. The last scene I could still see hearts in his eyes. That sort of just proves that he had feelings for the queen even before BH came. Also BH didn’t seem like he lost the love of his life at the end. It was more like he felt enlightenment that he found a path for himself. Another thing is I think it comes down to the fact that Kim Jung Hyun and Shin Hye Sun acting being too mesmerizing hence all the arguments about BH leaving. lol I think their acting overshadowed the main purpose of the drama which was to talk about personal growth especially at a time of hardness. The king, SY Queen and BH, the cousin and Hwa Jin all showed personal growth throughout the drama. The king broke out from becoming that puppet and weak king, SY queen learned that she can be herself and still achieve her dreams instead of dying. BH found a path for himself when he was lost in his fight with that evil Han guy. The cousin learned to let go of SY queen because he wanted her to be happy, but lost himself again because he believed that she was miserable and he was the only one who could overturn that. But he found himself at the end as he sacrificed himself for her happiness. Hwa Jin got swallowed by her obsession for the king’s love and lost her own identity but she realized her mistake and found herself again. Even though she couldn’t marry again as the King’s ex concubine, she still left the palace without turning back because she realized there is more to her life than just circling around the king. Lol the only one who didn’t grow in my book was the king’s brother ! Also I do have my doubts on whether or not the king really loved Hwa Jin. I think it felt more like an obligation or repayment of debt as she was by his side during his hard times. Like they never had similar values. I do believe that the king and SY queen had similar values. Sy queen was willing to go against her clan for the king. That’s a big no no for a noble woman of her status. She was not the kind of girl who just sat there and accepted what life gave her or else she wouldn’t have chosen to die. She could have just become the puppet queen that her clan wanted. She could have lied to herself on how maybe she can change things once she holds the position of queen like Hwa Jin originally lied to herself as she believed she was the only one for the king but she didn’t. All of them went on the path of personal growth during the most difficult and dark times of their lives and they all chose to do the right thing even if it was not to their best benefit. I think our main couple outstanding acting sort of over shadow the main message the drama wanted to bring out hence that’s why the focus was more on the love line lol but I’m not blaming them. I love Kim and Shin duo!
Personal growth? Now that's where you are wrong. The Queen should've done things by herself then. Only she can do that for herself. Why need BongHwan to help with her own personal growth? They're 2 completely different people. Also, If the King got everything he wanted at the end, why would he feel the need to mention that he feels as if though he lost something? 😭💔 It's implying to BongHwan's. It was BongHwan's personality that truly made the King fall in love with the Queen. The Queen herself was irrelevant throughout the series besides her memories and the ending. Even in the special episodes, it was not love at first sight. It was more out of curiousity or familiarity as if they have met before in which they have during the well incident.

He learned to be more righteous and less selfish and looked pass people’s looks. As for the king, yes he did feel weird but why didn’t he do something all the way at the end ? He’s not a stupid person as we learned. If it’s because of the baby then he could have just treated the queen like Hwa Jin and just kept taking care of her in the palace but still keeping distance. All in all this is all due to the fact of Shin Hye Sun’s fabulous acting. If it was any other so so actress I don’t think people will be as upset. People have different views on the drama and that’s ok. And if you get down to the origin, tvn just used the gender switch to attract more audiences. If they took out the gender switch and it was just a down to earth So Yong with the king then it’s like any other love story K drama land made- cue the moon that embraces the sun. They are using a big point like gender switch to get audiences interested while wrapping it around the point they want to get across the most - which is personal growth and being positive. Like BH said at the end - he learned that even if something looks like it will never succeed, you still should go through with it because it will still bring out positive affects on other people. The BH at the start of the show would have never believed in that hence he changed and grew more. Maybe SY did just hide behind BH back but she did learn something from it - that you don’t need to hide who you really are in a place like the palace. Just follow your own path you can get through it. Jdramas did a few stories about father and daughter who hate each other soul switched. They learned to understand each other and see things from different point of views from that experience. Gender soul switching is very funny and entertaining but it is also just a tool a writer uses to get a more deeper message across
I think this is the best ending and most realistic , I also think bong Hwan love that king cuz so young is still in that body , they are trying hard to live in one body . In the last ep so young unconsciously spit a bad word like she is still like before , bong Hwan is helping the queen become her real self , that's why this is the best ending , cheol Jong and bong Hwan is best friend forever ✊🏻❤️

Never been a fan of shin hye sun and jung hyun but after this drama i super love them both already like i'm anticipating somehow there will be a part 2.. a modern world version :)
I may be late but i just want to say to those who are doubting whether to watch this series or not, YOU SHOULD! This may be a lil shallow to some critics and may have left a lot of questions unanswered at the end but its all about enjoyment and showcasing the actor's talent.. I am so picky when it comes to kdrama series but somehow this exceeded my expectations. You will find yourself hating a character but liking them at the same time cause of their good acting skills. The romance and comedy is there and it wont disappoint you, although watching it dubbed may take away a small percentage of its humor when it couldnt be translated in a right way . Shin Hye Sun is the perfect lead actress for this, she really embodied that character and im glad she had a major breakthrough in the acting industry. Kim Jung hyun- it is my first time to watch him so at first im not use to him... (perhaps im biased cause i have a huge crush on Park Bogum and i only see him as a king in any historical romcom series especially in his role in love in the moonlight) but Junghyun surprised me with his great acting skills and charisma. All of the side characters are amazing and their own side stories will not bore you. After watching this, I actually find it hard to look for another series as good as this😅 Hope someone takes this advice and watch this masterpiece ❤❤💋💋✌✌ you wont regret it!

I do think whatever everyone’s thoughts are, this drama entertained us for a few months and brought us laughter. Putting the logical sense and purpose aside, the biggest thing for me from this drama is Shin Hye Sun and Kim Jung Hyun’s off the wall chemistry and wonderful acting skills. I really need to see them in another drama together ! I saw A lot of other dramas by Shin but her coupling with Kim was like a match made in heaven ! Lol I need to hope that revenge in penthouse season 2 is as sweet as advertised to fill my empty feeling of no more Shin and Kim!

After reading a lot of depressed comments about the ending being imperfect, I just wanted to say if the king thought things were truly wrong at the end - he would have shown a different attitude. Just look at how he was with Hwa Jin. He didn’t love her anymore but still felt obligated to care for her. He didn’t do that to the real queen. The last scene I could still see hearts in his eyes. That sort of just proves that he had feelings for the queen even before BH came. Also BH didn’t seem like he lost the love of his life at the end. It was more like he felt enlightenment that he found a path for himself. Another thing is I think it comes down to the fact that Kim Jung Hyun and Shin Hye Sun acting being too mesmerizing hence all the arguments about BH leaving. lol I think their acting overshadowed the main purpose of the drama which was to talk about personal growth especially at a time of hardness. The king, SY Queen and BH, the cousin and Hwa Jin all showed personal growth throughout the drama. The king broke out from becoming that puppet and weak king, SY queen learned that she can be herself and still achieve her dreams instead of dying. BH found a path for himself when he was lost in his fight with that evil Han guy. The cousin learned to let go of SY queen because he wanted her to be happy, but lost himself again because he believed that she was miserable and he was the only one who could overturn that. But he found himself at the end as he sacrificed himself for her happiness. Hwa Jin got swallowed by her obsession for the king’s love and lost her own identity but she realized her mistake and found herself again. Even though she couldn’t marry again as the King’s ex concubine, she still left the palace without turning back because she realized there is more to her life than just circling around the king. Lol the only one who didn’t grow in my book was the king’s brother ! Also I do have my doubts on whether or not the king really loved Hwa Jin. I think it felt more like an obligation or repayment of debt as she was by his side during his hard times. Like they never had similar values. I do believe that the king and SY queen had similar values. Sy queen was willing to go against her clan for the king. That’s a big no no for a noble woman of her status. She was not the kind of girl who just sat there and accepted what life gave her or else she wouldn’t have chosen to die. She could have just become the puppet queen that her clan wanted. She could have lied to herself on how maybe she can change things once she holds the position of queen like Hwa Jin originally lied to herself as she believed she was the only one for the king but she didn’t. All of them went on the path of personal growth during the most difficult and dark times of their lives and they all chose to do the right thing even if it was not to their best benefit. I think our main couple outstanding acting sort of over shadow the main message the drama wanted to bring out hence that’s why the focus was more on the love line lol but I’m not blaming them. I love Kim and Shin duo!

Personal growth? Now that's where you are wrong. The Queen should've done things by herself then. Only she can do that for herself. Why need BongHwan to help with her own personal growth? They're 2 completely different people. Also, If the King got everything he wanted at the end, why would he feel the need to mention that he feels as if though he lost something? 😭💔 It's implying to BongHwan's. It was BongHwan's personality that truly made the King fall in love with the Queen. The Queen herself was irrelevant throughout the series besides her memories and the ending. Even in the special episodes, it was not love at first sight. It was more out of curiousity or familiarity as if they have met before in which they have during the well incident.
@@KingOfThePirates101 she learned something along this path and that’s personal growth. BH actually changed and learned things when he was in SY body also. He learned to be more righteous and less selfish and looked pass people’s looks. As for the king, yes he did feel weird but why didn’t he do something all the way at the end ? He’s not a stupid person as we learned. If it’s because of the baby then he could have just treated the queen like Hwa Jin and just kept taking care of her in the palace but still keeping distance. All in all this is all due to the fact of Shin Hye Sun’s fabulous acting. If it was any other so so actress I don’t think people will be as upset. People have different views on the drama and that’s ok. And if you get down to the origin, tvn just used the gender switch to attract more audiences. If they took out the gender switch and it was just a down to earth So Yong with the king then it’s like any other love story K drama land made- cue the moon that embraces the sun. They are using a big point like gender switch to get audiences interested while wrapping it around the point they want to get across the most - which is personal growth and being positive. Like BH said at the end - he learned that even if something looks like it will never succeed, you still should go through with it because it will still bring out positive affects on other people. The BH at the start of the show would have never believed in that hence he changed and grew more. Maybe SY did just hide behind BH back but she did learn something from it - that you don’t need to hide who you really are in a place like the palace. Just follow your own path you can get through it. Jdramas did a few stories about father and daughter who hate each other soul switched. They learned to understand each other and see things from different point of views from that experience. Gender soul switching is very funny and entertaining but it is also just a tool a writer uses to get a more deeper message across

I think this is the best ending and most realistic , I also think bong Hwan love that king cuz so young is still in that body , they are trying hard to live in one body . In the last ep so young unconsciously spit a bad word like she is still like before , bong Hwan is helping the queen become her real self , that's why this is the best ending , cheol Jong and bong Hwan is best friend forever ✊🏻❤️

I may be late but i just want to say to those who are doubting whether to watch this series or not, YOU SHOULD! This may be a lil shallow to some critics and may have left a lot of questions unanswered at the end but its all about enjoyment and showcasing the actor's talent.. I am so picky when it comes to kdrama series but somehow this exceeded my expectations. You will find yourself hating a character but liking them at the same time cause of their good acting skills. The romance and comedy is there and it wont disappoint you, although watching it dubbed may take away a small percentage of its humor when it couldnt be translated in a right way . Shin Hye Sun is the perfect lead actress for this, she really embodied that character and im glad she had a major breakthrough in the acting industry. Kim Jung hyun- it is my first time to watch him so at first im not use to him... (perhaps im biased cause i have a huge crush on Park Bogum and i only see him as a king in any historical romcom series especially in his role in love in the moonlight) but Junghyun surprised me with his great acting skills and charisma. All of the side characters are amazing and their own side stories will not bore you. After watching this, I actually find it hard to look for another series as good as this😅
