I love how Sean Payton has to hit the media circuit, for damage control after Terry Bradshaw claimed he told him he wasn't feeling too enthusiastic about getting coaching Russell Wilson.
Russ loves Payton and Payton loves him. Are you forgetting that Russ has been chomping at the but to play for Payton for three years, and that he helped recruit Payton to the Broncos?
When all of the pleasantries of dinners, nice text messages, welcomes chats, team events, and social hours are over we'll see where the rubber hits the road and how this relationship between Wilson and Payton is 6 weeks into the season when he gets to see what he has in the QB. Wilson will be forced to go one way or another. It's either Payton or Wilson at that point. And I don't see ownership budging one bit when questions and arise.
Payton needs to call plays for Wilson like how the eagles use Hurts. Wilson is a running qb. This is why he was so great with the Seahawks. I bet if they use Wilson like how eagles use Hurts, broncos will be beast.
Some jabs at RW3 which I like. Who tries to have such a serious conversation at a big social event? I doubt Payton would have taken the job without assurance that Wilson is the more dispensable of the two.
Not much if a challenge. Russ is still elite. He realized he had a moron for a HC and mailed it in all season. I’m not so sure he didn’t sandbag Hackett. I had a feeling midseason Payton would become the Broncos HC.
When Payton took the Saints job, the entire NFC South Division was garbage. He was able to lead a true outlier in a then mid 20's Drew Brees to dominance in that division. He is not going to stand a chance in the AFC West with a mid 30's Russell Wilson going against Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert. This is a great paycheck for Payton though.
Herbert doesn’t strike nearly the same amount of fear in anybody’s heart that Mahomes does. Not even close. Nobody fears the pretending chargers, quit hyping them up to be world beaters.
Sean P. Is a great hire. He won't let Russell get away with his crap. No more private offices, entourage, extra parking spaces, personal trainers and coaches in the building. Awesome.
Russell didn't "get away" with anything. He was GIVEN the office by the front office. Stop pretending Russell did something wrong to anyone, he wants to be coached by Payton.
I was one of those who wanted Payton from the get go! But could you please start hiring coordinators? Seems all the best ones are being hired elsewhere.
He has a a philosophy he’s always gone by. He says “quick to fire slow to hire” if you’re hiring fast you’re not being patient enough just hiring a guy cuz you feel you need to right away
He really "embraced the challenge" with the Saints, that's for sure! Cam Jordan basically dedicated every second of his NFL Honors skit to calling Sean a pathetic quitter once they lost Brees.
I have my doubts that Coach Peyton can fix Russ. Russ has lost much of his mobility. As a result, he must pick up his pocket play. But he's pretty short, he holds onto the ball too long and he stares down his recievers. Two of the three can be fixed. But the biggest obstacle is his sense of self-importance.
If russ stinks this year, the broncos can draft a qb early in 2024 and have him sit behind russ for 1 year and cut him in 2025 with a manageable cap hit.
Russell hasn’t lost much mobility. After Hackett was fired he used it more. Two rushing Touchsdown @ KC and they ran the read option a lot more… and successfully too
Russ doesn’t need to be athletic like Lamar and Fields, but just able to extend plays outside the pocket. Like Mahoney for example, he is not fast but he can extend.
How quick everyone is to forget. It was stated publicly by Russ and Hackett that Russ would have more control of the offense in Denver than in Seattle. Russ wanted to prove he could be a pocket passer. Plus, he doesn't have the legs to play like he did before.
@@johnnyblazers no. They had to say that. That was A. Rogers offence. And a rookie coach who had no time to change it. And having a fumbling running back didn't help
This will probably be the 1st year Russ will have a coach that's not a my way or the highway guy. The seahawks are too systematic. If this don't work it's because the media is trying so hard to push Payton at Russ. Russ is about as humble as a quarterback as you can get. In a corny way.
