That Double Team sure helped you out, or rather, saved you from losing the battle, that’s for sure!
That seems like something Ash Ketchum would do, challenge a gym with two Ground types using a Pikachu, AND win for that matter!

Do it without overleveling or double team
I did it with a pidgeotto , I was young and didn’t know you could catch mankey.
