    I ran across this song while working in Japan near Kobe about 20 years ago. I learned to sing it while learning the Japanese language. We frequented an international country club and with about one week's notice, a Doctor friend asked me to sing it with him at a party. I had never sang in front of a crowd but for some reason I felt comfortable with it. I think it went well - a great memory from some fantastic times with the wonderful Japanese people.

    Thank you for the corrections and explanations. Not knowing Japanese, I often wonder if there's a subtle meaning in the use of the word 'sakasouyo' in her song. Now I know. Thanks again.

    Olá! (Haisai!)A canção é linda. A letra fala que em algum dia as flores irão desabrochar. A efemeridade do tempo. Chibariyo! Saudações do Brasil!

    At least change the chorus:-) You have the Japanese right, "Hana o sakasouyo” but it s "lets make a flower bloom" not gather (sagasouyo?). Gather is not bad, because she is singing about having many powerful emotional experiences, which might be in a sense "gathered." it is more profound than that. She is saying we can make of our hearts a flower, make our heart bloom, so that emotional experiences are not merely collected but lead to a beautiful blooming state. Enlightenment? Zeami? W. James?

      My friend, you are a boomer. But, from a young head to an old head, maybe, maybe you’re right. I have been reflecting on the fact that indeed age does come to us all. If I may ask an old head, a boomer perhaps, a question:
      Is there anyway to appreciate life now, while I’m young, or will I only understand with age?

    • @nihonbunka
      @nihonbunka 3 года назад +1

      @@JJN45321 Sorry, umm, I think that you may know more about how to appreciate life than me. You have the humility off pat, and that is half or nine tenths of the battle, afaik.
      But how about, the advice that a famous old Japanese doctor's dad gave him, and I relayed to my son: live your life like it is a painting and make it a beautiful one.
