I love it! Great tips, great quality, great dad humour minus the annoying fluff on other channels. I'm definitely a fan of the choice, appreciate your content man!
Love the content and your cutting edge format! I have a zip up hoodie that I love but is too baggie. I'm going to try the same technique with my hoodie, just re-watched you video for the last minute inspiration and technique review. Here goes! 🤞
You and me both man. Or when they need to give you the entire back story on where they got the hoodie and how much it cost and all that, I'm like "just get to the point..."
@@StylishDTailors Thank you for being detailed! I learned not only what you did but how easy it is. Sometimes you don’t know you could do something until you’ve seen a good refined process.
I know this channel is geared towards men's tailoring, but I'm a woman and I've found that most of the time hoodies are sized for men and are super baggy on me (same with t-shirts). I'm new to tailoring and so many of these tutorials are just what I need. I'm looking forward to using some of these methods on my clothing!
You made all my hoodies that have potential to bring their true potential out, I spent hours looking for hoodies that are stylish and fitted but just to find dresses and potato sacks, I take my clothes to get them tailored, yes i know im lazy but your work gave me hope. You are truly my hero :)
Awesome. Thanks for putting this out there. I'm a tall skinny dude (6.6" 225) and it's tough finding stuff that fits. Buying larger tall stuff and altering down is the answer to get sleeve length without swimming in it. Appreciate you, man! Carhartt has awesome tall sized hoodies but you're quickly swimming in them. Bringing in the sides makes them way more practical esp if you're wearing a tool belt.
RUclips is blessed for the abundance of brain imploding content. Thank you good sir for introducing me to a brand new hobby! Great content, filming, delivery and overall impact of the video. Kudos!
Hell yeah brother! I have an extremely huge chest and even bigger shoulders so my ab area always looks awful in any hoodie or shirt I put on. This helped tremendously
Aaaaand...I finally did it. Been watching your videos for a few years now trying to work up the guts to start messing with my clothes. You, sir, are a) brilliant and b) inspiring. Thanks for all the time and effort you've put into these tutorials!
Tall men’s sizes seem to assume too much. Slim tall men are so under represented. Thank you for your concise candor on how to sew for a sharp, put together look. I so wish there were more content creators for men’s up-cycling like yours. Keep up the amazing work.
Great tutorial. Might I add, if anyone is scared of pricking themselves with the pins when trying the fit on, try using small or thin bobby pins. They are safer and will stay in place even if the fabric is stretched.
As a lady who like form fitting clothes over baggy ones. I love this. You might have just saved me from turning a hoodie into a pillow cover I didnt need
Yes I guess it is sometimes better and faster to buy sewing machine and learn how to use it then spending your entire life in shops looking for clothing that will fit you perfectly. It is close to miracle. My grandmother taught me how to adjust (tailor) shirts, trousers and even jackets and how to use sewing machine and I´m very glad she did, because tailors can get pretty expensive. If you really want to look good in what you are wearing, it needs to fit you. And you got to be very lucky to find anything that fits you right away, without need of tailor. And BTW, you are great :)
Oh god you've gotten big enough for the spam bots to take notice. Seriously though, great video! I liked how to the point, matter-of-fact it is, and it feels like I'm not having my time wasted. Please keep this up and become the Adam Ragusea of tailoring! ᵃˡˢᵒ ᵖˡᵉᵃˢᵉ ᵐᵃᵏᵉ ᵃ ʳᵉᵖᵃᶦʳ ᵛᶦᵈᵉᵒ
This video randomly popped into my feed a few months ago. Recently I tried it with a t-shirt. Quite easy. Will be doing it with all my baggy clothes now!
At 2:17, I expected “And in the event that you *do* stab yourself, assess the damage inflicted upon your body and either self-medicate or call an ambulance.”
Hey Stylish, can you do a video that covers underarm bunching.or really bunching in general Ive. run into this a few times already where the hoodie is too large and it bunches where the sleeve meets the torso. I'm able to blindly power my way through it but I'd love to have why it happens and how to prevent it down to a science. Love your videos! I'm pretty sure this is the first time I've ever commented on any channel. So from my meaningless merit you're an awesome channel
Too much room in the torso (width of the hoodie), the sleeve, or the chest (depth of the hoodie). Sometimes, you can get ill effects if the top is too long, but that's less an issue with your top half than the bottom. Buying clothes that are too big will always create unnecessary effects like bunching and blousing (tops), and wisping and breaking (bottoms). Wisping and blousing are fairly similar, where the garment is too wide or too deep. Breaking is a result of pants being too long. 95% of the time, bunching occurs when blousing is present. But slim fit clothing isn't the best option, but clothing that is selected based on your particular body type. If you're not slim, it's not going to fit you correctly. So maybe (e.g.) Under Armour makes a close fitting top but your body type is less athletic 'V' and more pear shaped. Those fits likely won't be flattering or give you the desired look. Finding clothes with stretch is good as they'll be more adaptable to the person wearing them, but finding the right cut is more important. Try not to buy from brands you're not able to try on, to avoid companies that won't accept returns if something doesn't work, and to not be afraid to buck a trend if it means being more conscious about your shape. Having spent years in men's wear and the fashion business, I've seen far too many guys try to force a look and it just not working out. So, three tips to remember: 1) Know your shape and like your body. Self hatred isn't productive, but a desire for betterment. They aren't the same thing. 2) Find a tailor who you can trust and build a relationship with them. That way, they'll get to know what works and be able to better accomodate. 3) If you need to get something fitted, start with something close. Pants can be shortened A LOT (I've seen dress slacks shortened up to a full 15 inches). Waistbands and intricately printed clothing? Not so much. If you're buying something decent that's way too big or small, don't expect to wear it, or for it to be flattering in any way. So I'm not sounding overly negative, I'll stress: if you have comfy clothes that are too big, keep it for lounging at home or consider donating. People are always in need and bigger sizes can be hard to find.
Great tutorial, I'm a fairly lanky dude so I have to by XL and L clothing but my body type is closer to a medium so I can either have clothes that fit my body but too short or buy clothes that fit my arms but look like sacks. Nice to know how easy it is to fix. Need to work out what one of the many sewing machines in my house is best for this 😂
