Guerlain Patchouli Ardent is launched and I was excited and anticipating this new release. And even though it's a bit of a let down as to what I ended up receiving as a fragrance it's still a solid release. This does remind me of Bois Mysterieux a lot though but a patchouli fragrance take on Bois Mysterieux. Have you tried Patchouli Ardent by Guerlain? What are you thoughts? I have had this for a while and the fig pops on me lasts all day ....must be skin chemistry ...nice video
I really enjoy this one actually! The dry down is very addictive! I do get a medicinal touch. I feel like this collection has a similr dna, might be the rose. Cuz Ive smelled this one and santal royal, and I own encens mythique.
It's a great looking blue bottle, extremely unique for not only fragrance guru’s, but guys who purchase just for the bottle collection. Cheers!
the picture guerlain use for advertising is from The Shah Mosque (isfehan - iran ) So I think its supposed to be oriental perfumes
I think there's a lesson in here about expectations... It's like they were the only thing stopping you from declaring this a great fragrance on its own. Your description sounds lovely and I'll be sure to check it out as I'm a patch head too and I prefer a dryer patch, but FM Monsieur goes a little bit too medicinal for me.

@@sibyl999 I LIked it and would wear it again, but it gave me flashbacks of other Guerlains from the same line, even ones that don't smell like this. I'll give you a weird example, but it reminded me of Santal Royal without the challenging parts of Santal Royal (not that they smell similar, but it just reminded of the experience) AND, it also gave me whiffs of Bois Mysterieux. So, I had the Opposite or Rather, Flip Side experience of Sebastian, but still, I understand what he is saying.

I know this sample is so hard to find and this fragrance is new and slow to obtain due to this situation we are in. I was looking forward to get this one, but now I probably won't. I do own two of the initial collection, Ambre eternal and Santal Royal, and I am pretty pleased with those two. Guerlain has been one of the houses I started to wear when I was still an adolescent, thanks to a friend much older than me, that introduced me to the fragrance world. This is just the 3rd video I watch from you.. and I am liking you ;-)
I enjoy Guerlain but this line didn’t do it for me, Bois Mysterious was the only one I might consider buying.
I own the full line and am looking forward to trying and eventually owning Patchouli Ardent, if only to complete my collection. With the pandemic is was not able to sample it yet, unfortunately. Thank you for the review!
Didn't try try this one yet , I like this guerlain line , but I find bois mystérieux leaning masculine for my liking , loved encens mythique but I was reluctant to get a bottle , the ambregris can be overwhelming sometimes , I wish I can get a sample of rose nacrée du desert. Lovely video as always ❤

Thanks to God and you I’ll give up. Please look the presentation it is like cheap soap or something like that,and quality of perfume as you sad isn’t astonishing so that is enough for me to save my money as well.

Just tried a sample and this is the only one I have tried in the line. I really like it but will try the other one you mentioned as well. The price point is higher than what I usually purchase BUT I am considering it.
I recently bought Oud Essentiel and a decant of Santal Royal. I prefer the former. Got a sample of Bois Mysterieux the other day because of your enthusiasm for the scent. I might have to wear it again, for I wasn’t too keen on it. Haven’t tried any others in the line.
I tried them all today and the patchouli is the only one that sits with me and is actually really attractive to me. Absolutely gorgeous
I hope it’s still selling and not discontinued. There was a rumor was gonna get discontinued but I’m not sure.😀
@@ThePerfumeGuy I work for a large european cosmetics distributor and to my knowledge its still being sold. However no idea if the house itself stopped production? Hopefully not :)
I have not tried any of the Les Absolus D'Orient Collection of fragrances from Guerlain. I think I would love it. The muted fig note on top sounds great. f

Also if you are still searching for great patchouli fragrances, I recommend patchouli noir by Aaron Terence Hughes.
great review, you are the second reviewer who talked about it, I would like to try it, because I am a rose lover but I am very scared of patchouli, depends on what notes is blend with it, I have fragrances with patch but not too much of it, so probably I will like it!!!!
In the end it’s patchouly but with loads of rose and leather I suggest a sample. 😄
well...I was about to buy a bottle, but I will sample it first. As for Bois Mysterieux it's inferior to my nose to the original release which was Songe D'un Bois d'Ete. I think they have replaced some expensive materials with cheaper equivalents...it's unacceptable for my nose. Why should I buy something...good but still worse. I have expected dominant and dense patchouli, could have been dry but still would love it to be just...intense..Thanks Sebastian for honesty!

That’s too bad- I’m gonna just stuck with my Rememiscence and my Patchouli Antique by Les Néréides.. And speaking of that little house have you tried their Oppoponax? It is WONDERFUL! It’s warm and very well blended like Ambre Précieux or Myrrh and Tonka . I recently watched your resins and balsams video w Dana and I am collecting from that list now- so far I have ordered the Joop! Le Bain and the Etienne Aigner fragrances. So far only the former has arrived and it is so good!! So I love her taste- yours too- and was really happy to hear that she loved that Oppoponax.
Seems like most in this line rose and leather dominate. I however absolutely LOVE santal Royal! Master piece, will have to try this one, thanks.

I understand what you mean, but I love this fragrance. Extremely original and addictive. Patchouli is not the dominant note (and I know you are a psycho) and the name can thus be deceiving. Love it!

I tried Patchouli Ardent at the store and it is a Must-have for me but i do get what you mean.

If you look at perfume bottles, you will find that there is a gap between the Atomizer and bottom of the bottle I.e. the pump doesn’t reach to the end. There is a technical term for the gap. Do you know what is it called?
I love it, I got a sample of it and can’t wait to add it to my collection.

Hi there. I love Musc Noble on my skin. A lot of Musc with good quality and beautiful rose scent. Do you think this Patchouli one smells a lot like Musc Noble? I also love Santal Royal, which I have (hairmist).
I personally do not find similarities. To me Musc Noble is very soft scent.

I got a sample of this and … I get the rose and pink pepper and then it fades off and there's just no patchouli. All I get is miles and miles of sandalwood. Did I get a counterfeit?

Thanks for your review, Sebastian! I do love Guerlain and most of their fragrances. Do you find that all or most of this line has ambroxan? You saved me money on this one, it makes my brain hurt. :) That's why aside from Les Absolus d'Orient collection and LI Cool, Guerlain and I tend to get along so well.
it has natural ambergris, not ambroxan, but yes, its a theme throughout the line
Isn't Ambre Eternel the only one with natural Ambergris?
I am smelling wet grass at the beginning i don't know what is that after an hour i start liking the smell

Does it have a strong cumin feel? I remember Bois having some sort of note that did not agree with my skin chemistry? This might be more agreeable. Thanks Sebastian
Cumin is quite faint.
I suggest you test it tho, you might be more sensitive to it! 😄

Sell it to me 🙏😂 where did you find it? Guerlain straight up told me I wouldn't be able to get it in Canada till late August or early September 🤷♂️ I'm so confused.
I called Holt Renfrew and they told me the same thing. I'm keeping this though it's mine ha!! It's not a bad fragrance I was just expecting something else. Hope that makes sense?
