The second animatronic says: your curiosity drove you there; pay for the price and experience what you never dared to know. In the lift he is saying: I was persecuted, driven and finally hanged. But I'm always here. Edit: i didn't know, that there was a slide. Wtf? But in the maze there were people in the train before us hidden in the maze and scared us.😅
Just curious: So what are your top 5 German coasters? I mean, there are a lot I consider to deserve to be in that list: Colossos, Silver Star, Expedition G-Force, Taron, probably Blue Fire and Fly as well. But yeah, Hansa Park is definitely underrated!
@BTICronox Well, when it comes to airtime I would personally rank Colossos way higher than Kärnan. I was in Hansa Park and Heide Park within 14 days and compared to each other Colossos wins the airtime-race. But still Kärnan is in my opinion better due to the lifthill-feature, the good layout and the theming.
Yeah they’re good rides, but both are not in the top five. I could see a case for one of them being in, but when you have coasters like Taron, black mamba, flight of the demon, expedition GeForce, Star trek operation enterprise, blue fire, F.L.Y., etc. I just can’t put this one in the top five. Kärnan Is a great ride, but Novgorod just doesn’t do it for me. Other than the launch and the beyond vertical drop, it’s not that good of a ride. Looking back it kind of just feels like if mystery mine had a launch, was a bit taller, and didn’t have the zero g stall.
YES!!! FINALLY!!! This is in my personal Top 3. That launch is crazy fun, and the airtime hill right after gives some of the most breathtaking ejector I've experienced
Taylor: “I’m so glad I knew nothing about this in advance! Now let me tell you all the details ...” 😂. Great review, though, really. I’m hoping to ride this this summer and this got me pumped.
i like Fluch von Novgorod much more than Kärnan, dont get me wrong, der Schwur des Kärnan is a soild intimidating coaster, but i prefer that punch of Novgorod. The Theming is really good, the coaster is short but intense and that maze at the end is fun. I am also not sure about any scare actors, i was there just once and there just the guest scared each other... which is also really fun with your friends :D... I was also surprised by the launch, it is soooo fast, especially when you are used to the Mack Launches :D But i like to see that you talk about Fluch von Novorod because most German enthusiast forget about that... not sure why, but actually the whole Hansa Park is such pretty park, which a good variety and fantastic theming. I really like the approach, that they take northern european/ hanseatic Ideas to create there stories. I can just recommend anyone to visit this place, when you have the chance.
From start to finish, this coaster is absolutely hilarious. That first launch, that lift hill, that slide and that maze all caught me off guard. I didn’t even know launched Eurofighters existed.
I‘m from Germany and I love your videos. It is very interesting to see what you think about German coasters. I like Gerstlauer because I only know the Europe Gerstlauers. Have a great time, BYE
Really good video! I too love this ride and have been in it several times. But I spotted on tiny flaw in the video: at 0:52 and 7:01 you actually show a part of Kärnans queue.
All of those park and coaster reviews in Europe shows me how lucky I am to live in Europe instead of the USA :D (well, we don't have record breaking rides but at least the themes are magical !)

Thanks for uploading, this in now officially my favourite roller coaster in the world. My top 10 favourite roller coasters list is this: Fluch von Novgorod is 1st, Maverick is 2nd, Top Thrill Dragster is 3rd, Do-dodompa is 4th, Vanish 5th Time Traveller 6th, Mystery Mine 7th, Stealth 8th,The Rage 9th and Mr Freeze Reverse Blast 10th.
This was one of my biggest surprises. I absolutely loved this ride. I might even prefer this one to Der Schwur des Kärnan. The whole park doesn't have that many rides but it's just a really relaxing, fun day. So different from any of the parks in the USA or Europe.
FYI, the first season they had two more details , that were removed later on ( i dont know why). After the first two scenes on the ride, before u accelerate, they would spray u with water. And right at the end before u enter the station, there is a scarecrow that dropped down from the ceiling to scare u. If u look closely u can still see it today, but it's just hangin there :D and i think at some point there actually were people to scare u in the maze
As far as i know the water at the beginning was removed because there was problems with calcification. The scarecow at the end were removed because it caused breakdowns and some guest were extremly scared.
I think I was on there back in 2011 or something and had no idea what was coming up. You see that the carts come out of the building pretty fast but you have no idea where exactly they come from. So I went in, at least knowing it has a very steep drop but I thought the drop would start off the ride. Wrong. Surprised me completely. In a pleasant way. Also I am German and when I go there again I can write you what they are saying in the themed areas.
Whoa this is defenately one of the unique roller coasters I ever just heard about, the craziness of outdoors then indoors then exit via the slide and the dark maze, looks really fun indeed.
The ride is actually built around its theming/Story. The "monk" is some evil magician Who has Killed "your" father, so you run away from him (the launch). The second monk is actually the same guy, he tells you how they tried to murder him and he survived it all, you run away in the night again but this time you Fall down over your feet (the drop) I dont know everything anymore, but the magician is Alive due to the "curse (=Fluch) of novgorod" or something like that
Fluch von Novgorod is actually the 2nd fastest accelerating Launch Coaster in the World, only Do-Dodonpa beats it. Also Novgorod is ma favorite coaster at Hansa Park, probably because like you I knew almost nothing about it before riding it, unlike Kärnan wich I pretty much knew everything about.
tbh, i like the really small details, for example the hand gilloutine, or when you go back inside, how the part of the coaster (u can see at around 2:40) kinda looks like its old, you know, those loose strings reminding you of spider web parts dunno the name, the lights flickering wildly when you start the ride is also pretty cool imo, or the doors with the paintings of the people on them, the lockers with the names of the people from the paintings too, yea i know this is all not structured but im too lazy for that
Taylor maybe for a better understanding : The first Monk before the launch is saying: „Your curiosity has brought you here, now pay the price and experience what you never dare to know“ And the second monk in the Lifthill section is saying:“ I was persecuted, driven and finally hanged... But I‘m still here“ This monk is named Volkov, he is the „bad guy“ in the coaster‘s storyline The Cobraroll element is called a „Buchtknoten“ and usually when the train passes the brakerun there is a spooky scarecrow animatronic coming from above😅
I've been on it too, and I TOTALLY agree! The first day was rainy and cloudy, so I got more than 20 rides on it, and the second day was sunny and VERY busy, unfortionatly there wasn't any scare actors tho :(
Originally there was a small "jolty" hill shortly before the end, but so many customers kept complaining that the park brought the manufacturer back in to remove it after 2010
Awesome review. I just have to say it does not accelerate you from 0 but you are actually doing a Little pre-drop and then being launched directly after.
We need better Gerstlauers in the USA. I really love Mystery Mine but mostly because of the ending and the theming. If it was just an outside coaster no one would talk about it. It's like the best thing we have of these sort of coasters is Cannibal (which only looks like a Gerstlauer but isn't one.)
Did I see the kitchen in Kärnan's Q two times? ;) First time I rode FvN, I barely know nothing about it either. The launch is like an express-train crashing right into the back of your car, pushing you forward. Great punch, Great review
I like Tarons launch, but there are a lot of coasters with a better launch, why does everyone compare launches to Tarons launch, I think its only a pretty good LSM launch, not more

Philip K. I just rode this today, but I still can’t forget how Taron’s launch just blew me away. Novgorod, great coaster, but its launches are definitely not better than Taron.
@@MrPatrickbuit I think the difference is, that Taron starts at 0 speed, while Fluch von Novgorod already has some speed because of the pre-drop. I‘d only take a half point away for roughness that it has gained the last few years and the shoulder restraints. Man this would be a blast without shoulder restraints. And there was scare actors in the maze for a few years after opening :)

Can I give you some advice on how to pronounce the name of the ride? In general, your German pronunciation is pretty good but the way you say "Fluch" is quite off. It sounds like "Flug" which is a completely different word and translates to "flight". "Fluch" means "curse" in English. The "ch" sound in "Fluch" should sound more like the "ch" at the end of "Loch" (referring to the Scottish lake Loch Ness). If you did it that way, your pronunciation would be almost flawless. All the best from Germany and keep up the good work!
