I was 6 years old when this was first broadcast. I remember watching it with the family, it was one of my favourite TV shows at the time. It was only years later I realised the episodes were based on classic 19th/early 20th century stories.
Great to see this clip.. I notice it says 'Part Three' .. pity its not the full episode? Surely there must be some more episodes out there somewhere.. such a pity
I remember a couple of stories from this series I watched as a child. One with Ian Ogilvie and one with William Mervyn. The William Mervyn one was about the time difference between London and Plymouth and the Ian Ogilvie one was about a man meeting a woman that could make her arms stretch across a room. I was only 12 so I don't remember much of the stories. I remember one featuring Nyree Dawn Porter but can't remember the story. I loved this series. Pity they are lost.
What a memory that was. Adored that series, on so long ago. What an awful pity that all, bar one, of the tapes were wiped clean. Maybe someone out there has old recordings from cinefilm?? xxx
Gosh! I was only eleven when this series was aired. I remeber it mostly for the catchy theme tune. I enjoyed this little clip though. I wonder how she got through all that food though...maybe she 'recycled' it. Thanks for sharing it.
This is my story, too. Everyone thought I was going a bit mad, I knew I remembered “The Liars” My memory was triggered by watching “The Railway Children “ again ! I knew I remembered the old man from the film and TV show, I do remember that this show frightened me, don’t know why, strange how your memory works.
I remember one clever episode in which a very snooty character played by Allan Cuthbertson was induced to pretend to be a humble, sociable and generous personna by various baits, culminating in the inevitable seduction by "Hermionne".
I remember this series fondly - Saturday nights watching with my babysitter. ❤

A tragedy that this series was lost ... so excellent to see this ......
Wonderful. A distant memory.
Well done on finding this episode. I was so surprised to see that one at least one still survived.

Used to love this program. Shame so little survived.

Lovely Sheila Steafel. I remember her best from The Frost Report, with John Cleese, Ronnie Barker and Ronnie Corbett. Very funny lady.
Great clip: thanks. I think William Mervyn also deserves a credit here.

I wish there were more episodes of The Liars.
A wonderful series. I remember a particular episode, I think it was called
“Germans at meat”.
Remember from my childhood . The one that sticks in my mind was a American had to stay in a haunted house by himself .
....always thought this series was a figment of my imagination because nobody I know had ever heard of it.....
This is my story, too.

Fantastic, remember this on Friday nights, very good stories which i wish were remade today. Where on earth did you get this, thought none existed?
