    Wow, that trip was really beautiful! So much to say about this one! It made me laugh a little that 75 degrees is hot to you. This is one of those trips that I would imagine would be great and then I remember that driving for hours on end for multiple days straight would put me super on edge, though I suppose I could take longer breaks in between, haha.
    The polaroid thing was super cool and I never even thought about the idea of bringing one so I could give other people pictures, but it seems like a cool idea. Maybe it is because I spend all day in front of electronics, but there is something nice and vaguely nostalgic about getting the physical picture from a polaroid. Also, I can't speak to how nice the apartment is on the inside, but that location was fantastic, especially for a surfer such as yourself!

      Thanks, Mark! Your comments are always so thoughtful. Hahah yeah 75 is paradise for us. Though we used to live in Texas and had to deal with 100+ and humidity. We have quickly forgotten I guess 🤣😅
      It was a ton of driving and with limited day light hours it was a bit stressful at times. I think I decided it was more of a recon trip for areas I want to spend more time and slow travel.
      The Polaroid thing was a great ideas by the couple. Missing the nostalgia of printed photos. They were super sweet.
      That view from my apartment was so special! The panoramic sunsets!! I’ll try to dig up a photo. I was living there during the recession around 2010 and my studio apt was 1300 a month. I can’t imagine, by the time I moved out a couple years later they wanted almost $2k a month. I can’t imagine what it is now -Helen

      @@HelenandTimTravel Haha, the price of that apartment now would probably be crazy! It would definitely be a steal at $1300 a month nowadays (assuming there weren't tons of issues inside). And the recon trip idea is interesting. I am glad it was such a rewarding trip for you, and that you got to see your brother!

      They had just renovated it when I moved in 2011 so it was a sweet spot. The good old days. Young and having too much fun. Probably good I moved away, I was close to becoming a surf bum. It was nice to catch up with my brother for sure! -Helen

      Thank you! It was much needed after a stressful year. It was a good recon trip for future camping and surf trips. Lots of mountains to hike along the way. But of course not as prominent as the ones in the PNW 😬 -Helen

      @bauhaus1000_PoetryinMotion right?! That would’ve been a great investment. I lived in Venice beach almost 10+ years ago during the recession and wish I bought real estate in that area. Cali is very expensive now and we couldn’t afford anything in a place we want to live now! ☺️ Take care and we will catch you soon! -Helen

    I just came across this video by accident but just wanted to leave a comment. I understand we all need our alone time & I admire your courage & commitment to take a solo trip, but please don't ever do it again. There are too many weirdos out here in our world that would love to take advantage of a beautiful woman as yourself. Anyways, I'm glad you're safe & sound & good luck on your channel! 💙

    We are doing a road trip in about 3 weeks. From Marina del Rey via Mammoth lake to Lake Tahoe. We then head west to eureka, explore the lost coast and head south to SF via the 1 starting at Leggett, CA. then drive down the 1 towards HMB to Monterey, thru the 17 mile drive pass Carmel by the sea down to the big sur on to morrow bay south to Prismo then Santa Barbara. Still on the 1 all the way to the Bu and back home in MRD. we plan 8 days with 1 day in Mammoth, 2 days in Tahoe, 2 days in Eureka ( so we can do the lost coast thing), 2 days in SF and 1day in Monterey. I have never done a go pro video but hopefully we can film the Leggett to Big Sur run. lost coast, redwoods (ave of the giants) point Arena light house and point Reyes lighthouse. if you have any suggestions for stops from Leggett to SF, feel free to comment.

      Sound like an awesome road trip you have planned! Filming it would be awesome. Please share if you do! Some stops we recommend between Leggett and San Fran include: Point Reyes Light House, Cypress Tunnel, Tomales Point, Bodega Bay Trailhead and the Lodge near there has great seafood and view (so quaint!), Point Arenas Lighthouse, and Mendocino Headlands State Park are some recommended stop! Have a safe trip 🚐

    The Pirate Tower, also known as “La Tour, ” stands 60 feet tall and looks like it's grown out of the cliff. It was built in 1926 along with the house that goes with it for William E. Brown, an L.A. Senator and has a castle-like aesthetic. The tower gave access to a staircase which connected his home to the beach below

    Hello again!! Solo road trip - love it! Ohhh your sleeping setup looks extremely comfortable. Sorry about the battery being dead to start the day though 😅 The cliff seaside looked absolutely beautiful - Mendocino especially! We LOVED i-overlander while doing our road trip in Patagonia. Okay the kingdom of dumpling food looked super delicious - I'm craving asian food so much!! Some of those days seemed like a lot of driving - did you ever get exhausted!? One day of 6 hour drives would wipe me out haha. Aww so glad you were able to see your brother again! Thanks for taking us on this awesome adventure!

    • @HelenandTimTravel

      You guys are so thoughtful when you write here ❤️ The sleep set up was so so so comfy and cozy. Stayed very warm! I can’t wait to do it again. Luckily I was able to jump my own battery with a kit I have 😅 That would’ve been a rough start if I didn’t have that.
      The drive was so magical and northern Cali has some gems! Trying to justify it on film and photo sometimes can be tough. So much driving (a bit too much) but totally worth it! Definitely slow traveling it next time. Can’t stop in San Fran and not have Asian food!
      Appreciate you tuning in! Agreed IOverlander is so helpful, but many of the spots I wanted to stay in were not available anymore and my first time solo sleeping in my car I felt safer at campgrounds, plus, having a bathroom is nice 😎

      Really looked like you had the best time, and so glad you had that battery kit otherwise I would have taken it as an omen and would aborted the whole trip 😂 Would love to do a slow road trip like that one day though - solo would be a welcomed extra challenge.
      Tom would love to live in California one day, and northern Cali looks super beautiful. Didn’t know San Fran had a huge Asian food culture but I’m TOTALLY there for it.
      We found the same with ioverlander - definitely helpful sometimes but 1/3 of the time the place didn’t exist or looked way too dodgy haha. If you’re flying solo campgrounds are definitely the way to go. Also bathroom things also haha!
      Hope you have an amazing weekend! ❤️

    Thanks! Are there hotel options along the PCH from LA to Portland?

    • @HelenandTimTravel
      @HelenandTimTravel  Год назад

      Depending on what town you want to stay in there are plenty of hotels and inns. They are smaller towns except for San Francisco, so I would recommend booking ahead instead of showing up on the day of especially if you go during high season in the summer. I was on a budget so ended up sleeping in my car and it was mid Nov so there weren’t that many people traveling on the PCH. Airbnb is another great option!

    • @HelenandTimTravel
      @HelenandTimTravel  2 года назад +1

      Thank you! It was my first time solo traveling actually minus just flying to a destination to meet people. It wasn’t scary at all and sleeping in my car was cozy. I stayed in campgrounds this time around to ease my way into things. I didn’t plan ahead so really found what was available. I did find a campsite a couple days ahead online through CA state park website along the way too. It was off season so it made it easier. I put privacy covers around my windows so no one could really see in. If your curious some of the links are in the description. Let me know if you have any other questions :) -Helen
