I am watching your video and I am having trouble figuring out which wires go with which. It looks like the two whites go together. your brown and yellow go with your brown. your other yellow goes to yellow. your green goes to green. I am hopefully going to be fixing a trailer tomorrow and I would like to make sure I am right before doing it.
From the trailer tongue to the connector on the vehicle, how long should the wiring be to allow enough slack when vehicle is turning or in a jack knife position but yet not be too long that it drags on the ground when vehicle and trailer are straight?
It all depends on the vehicle and trailer. On this one, I use a bout 14 inches to 2 feet. If you have a little too much, you can wrap it around a frame or a chain to take out some slack. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching and commenting. Please like share and subscribe

I think my trailer has same wiring (5 wires with 2 brown, 1 brown routed to either side). I spliced them together with the 1 brown on my replacement connector, but lights are not working as they should after testing. I'm wondering if I have damaged wires somewhere and brown and green are touching on the trailer? Or maybe I need to splice together different wires?
How do you know you have to combine those 2 wires into one? My PWC trailer harness has 6 wires, but the connector is a 4 flat, how do you know which pairs go together?
Great video. Sorry for having to ask but im a little confused. Both browns can be combined to the single brown? So essentially just match up all the colors and everything should work?
What does the WHITE WIRE do coming off from the vehicle control? Actually if you know off the top of your head, what does each color control,,,,,,thanks in advance
For starters, thanks for watching. Here is a link that may answer your question www.hopkinstowingsolutions.com/doc/trailer-wiring-codes.pdf . I hope it helps. Please like, share, and subscribe.
I'm redoing a trailer at work and the wires are faded, I am left with two green two yellow and my white ground. would I put one green and one yellow with tracers together? also I believe the color is gray now not brown. may need to rewire trailer.
I would just re-wire the trailer. It's fairly inexpensive and easy on the most part. Campers and box trailers can get tricky tho. If you don't want to rewire , you can check each wire with an multimeter. I hope this helps thanks for watching. Please like, share, and subscribe.
Here is the link for the solder amzn.to/2vuUoom . Make sure it is flux rosin core solder. Here is the link for the soldering iron amzn.to/2vvhyLf , this is a nice and hot soldering iron. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching and commenting. Please like, share, and subscribe.
Hard wiring is the best way ( with solder and heat shrink) You can use electrical tape but that gets messy. Especially in wet conditions and heat. The connections also start to corrode. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching and commenting. Please like share and subscribe
Hi, I was also looking for a video like this. O.k. my trailer has 5 wires and the new connector has 4 wires. I was listen to your video, but unfortunately I missed something. what two wires did you burn together. can you give me the colors? Thanks
Yeah, they are not bad little trailers for the price. They can take a good beating,. Thanks for watching and commenting. Please like share and subscribe

White is ground
White = ground, brown = lights, green = left turn & brakes, yellow = right turn & brakes

Problem Im having is the solder isnt sticking to the wire... what kinda solder did you use and solder gun?

THANK YOU SIR!

Can I just spin the 2 wires together and use electrical tape? Is Soding a absolute necessary ? Thanks
Awesome tunes man
I know that you know what you are doing but should you've checked to see if the lights would've worked before you Sauter then together? Just asking
It's not a bad idea. But I've done it a ton of times. Thanks for watching and commenting. Please like, share, and subscribe.
okay
Are you going to test it to see if the lights are working?
+Steven McGauley yes you should test to see if they work and I did. Thanks for watching and commenting. Please like share and subscribe
handy man
thanks handy man
You would do that before you do your heat shrinking and making everytning look good.
Q: does it need to be soldered ? Would just black electrical tape work? Tia

big problem when trailer builders have changed wire code, need a meter to trace... Simple system but butchers mess, and you have to trace.

Rosin core solder already has the flux in it.

Thanks, and thanks for watching
@@handymanPF say , where did the 5 th. Wire go
ess verrry gud, mon. Menny Tanks
why didn't you just run the white wire to the screw.
Personal preference , you can but I like to run a ground all the way to the back. Thanks for commenting and watching.
i have that same trailer
