      I own both and love them both, the short comeing of the shield is the 7 or 8 round mag, but it shoots very well and feels very good in the hand, I also have the EX Shield and lke it very well too. But I am an old timer and the single action cocked and lock carry is right in tune with what I am used to

    Boge, I started learning from Jeff here on RUclips throughout my teens and now through my 20’s. Now at almost 30, I hope to be half the shootist Jeff was. Most of my firearms purchases have been after consulting a Gunblast video to make sure it was a “Dandy” before purchase. I can’t thank you enough for keeping the videos going. Awesome video. Jeff would be proud.
    The first CSX I handled had a bad click in the reset, and a later one had more of a hump in the reset but no click. This might account for widely varied reviews. I shoot to reset and I think the first one would have driven me nuts.
    First day ran about 300 rounds of powder coated cast RN with 100% reliability, and great accuracy. I naturally found myself at the true reset without bobble or having to think about it. Break started at about 5.5 with a bit of slightly gritty creep. It wore in to about 5 pounds, smoother, still with a hint of creep but very controllable break. Personally I wouldn’t want much less than 4.5 in an edc micro, even with a safety.
    I have large-ish but maybe not very meaty hands and had no issues with slide bite. To control recoil in such a small gun I prefer it to push the envelope as far as high grip goes.
    There were reports of some mags hard to load, or that drag or are hard to seat when fully loaded, but mine were fine. Apparently a few had the mag spring not hooked into the hole on the follower.
    Roughness of reset feel seems to come from the interaction of the top and rear of the trigger bar, and the front surface of the linkage for the plunger safety. The frame isn’t Glock simple to fully disable, but isn’t difficult.
    A well heeled trigger snob might prefer Wilson’s 3.75 SFX9. I’m admittedly a bit of a trigger snob, but not sure if I’m that well heeled. All and all I like the CSX. If a person is seeking a 1911 manual of arms in a micro 9, this works.

    Because of the trigger not being striker, is why I carry my CZ-p01. The single stage triggers are awesome, and why so many love the 1911. I might try one to get a pistol that is lighter weight. I am not getting younger. The holster is what used to be referred to as a Yaqui holster. My son stitched a very good one for me. Not fancy, but effective. Retention is achieved by the pants belt being tight and pulling on the entire thing. At the end, "Some call it a Sling blade, some call it a Kaiser blade" had me smiling. Nice touch there Boge. Good on you man.

    • @Gunblastdotcom

      I don't really see what all the fuss is about re trigger reset in the first place, but it certainly is fine with me, bearing in mind that the slide has to travel far enough to cock the hammer. If it helps, I am buying this one.

    • @JeffinTD
      @JeffinTD 2 года назад

      I handled an early one with a notable click in the reset stroke, and a later one that had more of a hump in the reset stroke but no click. I shoot to reset and I’m sure first one would have driven me nuts. The 2nd one was at a great price…
      About 300 rounds the first day and I had no issues. I found myself on the true reset every time, without having to think about it.
      The reset roughness seems to come from where the top and back surfaces of the trigger extension interacts with the front edge (by the bump) on the linkage for the plunger safety.

    I see you have also reviewed the Smith and Wesson performance Center sw1911 pro series sub compact. How do they compare? In size and in recoil. I have the Csx but what I really wanted was the sw1911, is there much of a difference besides the price gap.

    • @Gunblastdotcom
      @Gunblastdotcom  2 года назад +1

      There are many differences between the CSX and the SW1911 Pro Compact. It really comes down to what your preferences are, between the 1911 and the more modern CSX design. I am a 1911 guy myself, so I would lean toward the SW1911 Pro, but the feature set, cost, and additional magazine capacity of the CSX puts it over the top for me.
