In the mid and late 60's, I played as a drummer for the Buccaneers who were a local rock and roll band out of Salado. They originally formed there ass The Salados and my ex-father-in-law had painted all of the old signs across the highways and all for the Stage Coach Inn. My ex-mother-in-law worked in the kitchen and my ex-brother-in-law ran the desk back in the early 80's. My present wife and I spent the night of our honeymoon 37 years ago there at the Stagecoach Inn. Salado was at one time probably just as popular of an artist colony and antique and eclectic gathering of shops as Fredericksburg ever was. Unfortunately, the high cost of all the high dollar homes and rental costs for businesses and such pretty well took a significant toll out of how many businesses still thrive there. A lot of those homes about the Stagecoach were actually moved down there to give it a unique charm. You do the video a great disservice by not showing off the community and history there. Also, get rid of that crappy fake crushed, straw cowboy hat, as it makes you look like a "goat roper" instead of a Texan. The meals served there are pretty much high end stuff and not as great as the comfort food of years past, no matter how it is all dressed up. They painted that stage coach a totally stupid color. Not sure who had that idea, but it sure was not what you would have seen a stagecoach look like as far as being historically correct. Sadly, Salado has lost a lot of its charm these days and will likely never recover. I can relate to it being pretty unwell kept over the years, as some of my in-laws and my wife and I spent a weekend there many years back and nothing worked, not even the hot tub. My uncle and aunt owned the home that was the Baines (President Johnson's great grandfather) home there in Salado. As kids we grew up in visiting them all the time and going to the market and shops there in Salado before it all became such a tourist trap location. Sadly it was turned into a bed and breakfast and the family home charm aspect has long ago lost. We played and practiced at the High School Gym before it was torn down. There really is not much of a real draw to pull you off the highway and into Salado anymore, as so many of the shops have long since closed or moved out of Salado.

The Stagecoach Inn was THE very first restaurant I went to. Of course I was a newborn just passing through with my new parents from San Antonio to Arlington. I haven’t been since the new renovations. Is it true they removed the Strawberry 🍓 Kiss dessert?!?! Hopefully this is just a rumor.

I lived in Salado for a couple of years when i was young. I stayed there a few times between 2015 and 2016 and it was AWESOME. Now they have ruined it. Who buys a piece of history and erases it? Resort companies do and they trashed this place. Will never see a dime from me again.

It's a group of local investors. And I think it's better. The old Stagecoach was deteriorating and not making money. Now it's at least financially sustainable.

I was just there 2 weekends ago. I have been hesitant to eat there since I grew up with this place. My husband & I had our honeymoon there. I love the decor but the change in the food and the way they serve is just lost to me. I weep for the loss of the old way. It was unique and I miss the comfort of the way the food "WAS". I also miss the ole Grandma type servers that named off the menu of the day. There were no menus, they kept it just like it was in the stagecoach days. They millennialized the menu. So sad....................

me too, its renovation is modern and it feels fake western, sorry. was all about turning profit which I do not begrudge the investors but the historic nature is now a thing of the past

I use to clean the hoods in the kitchen up until last month. About a year ago my stepson said he warched a woman walk down the hall by the water closet in the kitchen and disappear. As ive been told (not of the truth) is that Bonnie and Clyde robbed the old bank across the street.
