Glad you liked it. I was one of many of those that gave input on this song. Bob Seger has many great songs but the guitar rifts and lyrics of this song make it stand out.
Here's the story behind this song - back in the early 80s, farms were in trouble and Congress was holding hearings on putting together aid packages. Among the people testifying on farmers' behalf was Jane Fonda. Bob Seger was watching on cspan and was mesmerized, watching her walk in to testify. He loved her "strut". The song is about Jane Fonda! Years later, she learned about this, and she said she was flattered! 😁👍
I am up late watching videos and I pulled up her strut by Bob Seger, 1980 I was a bartender at the most popular bar in Tucson Arizona, whenever I would walk in the bar for work the DJ would put that song on saying very loudly she’s here are very own bartender who we love to watch her strut. Watching your reaction to the song is great! It’s a great song, it sure brings back wonderful memories for me, boy I guess I sure was a cutie. Something tells me that Bob is the nicest rock & roller out there. One of those what you see is what you get guys. Hope he continues to write and make albums.
Jamel, a little back story on why he wrote this...😊 "The song was released in 1981 and it was indeed written about Jane Fonda, but Seger was inspired by her appearance before the Campaign for Economic Democracies, most likely in 1980. The Campaign for Economic Democracies was formed by Fonda's ex-husband, Tom Hayden, after his unsuccessful bid for the US Senate in 1976 . The US pulled out of the Vietnam War after a cease fire was declared in January of 1973. Speaking about her appearance before the Campaign for Economic Democracies that took place most likely in 1980, Seger said, "I was quite proud of her for doing that. I admired her crust. For going in there and having the strength to speak her mind, so I kind of wrote 'Her Strut' for an '80s woman … you know, it was the dawn of the '80s, and I wanted to write a song about how women have become so confident and stepped out so much, and I thought Jane was a great role model." A great deal of the proceeds from Fonda's workout books in the early 80s went to fund the Campaign for Economic Democracies and Tom Hayden's successful bid in 1982 to the California State Assembly."
