Thanks, for the tutorial, it was super helpful! Something I discovered as I was playing around with this is that if you turn the physics from newtonian to none and zero out the velocities the particles will stay stuck to your object no matter the direction it is moving.
Amazing Tuto Simon, thank you. Note for those who are applying this (the electrical particles) to a mirrored object, make sure your ParticleSystem modifer is below your Mirror modifier, then in your particle system, under source, select "Use Modifier Stack".
This is one of the best tutorials I've ever used. Thanks so much. The pace and explanations are perfect to allow me to pause, do what you say, then restart without doing a bunch of (what the heck was that?) that I have to do with so many other tutorials. I now have a full working Node Ranch to do this, that I can copy and alter however I want, all while learning a bit more about how it all works together.
man you are amazing not only do you put the blend file in the description for free but you saying that just encouraged me to watch the whole vid and learn how to make the effectanyways i subbed keep up the AMAZING! tutorials
Hey, glad you appreciate it, i stopped providing the blend files in the newest videos tho, because ultimately I want people to actually make an effort and do stuff themselves ^^
Good stuff. I used the node setup of the electric sparks and applied it to my object (no particles). Easy way to add arcs to any object, static or animated. Thanks
@@Simon3D who knows might have been, I have an idea you can consider In Encanto there is a part where the protoganist finds Bruno's vision and the padlet has a nice 3d effect I was wondering if it was possible to do that in shader nodes?

The portion on 5:44 doesn't work and so on. Seems that you haven't totally reveal all the info behind that. Well, I appreciate your effort bro, thanks.
There are plenty people who followed that and seemed to work fine for them, if you are having problem, then make sure you are using the same Blender version, because that may cause some issues

This tutorial is a treasure! I wanted to create a foggy aura around a character through geometry nodes and emission glow only. My character turned out to shine like a lamp. Had no idea that this was possible through particle systems. Thank you so much!
Hmmm a treasure ? That may explain why not so many people were able to find it ^^ about foggy aura - i think i might have better tutorial about that soon in my channel :) stay tuned
Does this work for cycles? Even when using this in Eevee, I cannot seem to get it to work, despite following instructions exactly. My cube is not transparent. Is anybody else experiencing the same problem?
Hi Simon, first of all, thank you very much for the tutorial. I wanted to ask you, is there any way to make it work in CYCLES? Thank you very much for your time.
Yes, i used metaball because if you bump the electricity up and the particle size, then in case of icosphere you would have kuch noisier and cutting through each others sparks, but metaball (and im not sure why or how it works behind the scenes) has a noise applied to all metaballs together as if it was 1 object, so the sparks all look like they beoong with each other
@sebyta7040. I haven't tried this out yet, but inserting a keyframe or two on the timeline, then going to the graph editor and right clicking should give you an option to make it cyclical. Can't say 100%, but that's how I would try to do it first. I will try this at get back to you later.
If someone has taken the tutorial to a tea and is still not transparent, try to move the particle object. For whatever reason, it becomes transparent at certain angles, so I went to my camera and moved it to where it is transparent from my camera view.
@@Animation_Entertainment probably becasue you dont have enough light path bounces. Go to render settings in cycles, Light paths > and there increase the Transparent number, to like idk, 512 or something. it will make the render slower but will make sure the light goes through all the layers of transparent faces. worked for me :)

This might be a stupid question but...i am new to blender and i wanted to know if there is a way to add this effect to a video shot by me?Maybe a video of myself?? :')
Hey, it would totally be possible with even just blender, but you would have to match your footage with the particles quite flawlessly so I would assume it would be easier in programs for vfx such as davinci or one of the adobe compositing software
You can directly in particle settings go to field weights (not sure whats the tab name) and turn the gravity down there, so it only will affect the particles
Hey, sorry but unfortunately i focus my work solely in eevee render engine, so I'm not sure why cycles has problems with it but im sure there is some settings to flip or checkbox to check - this kinda solution to fix it up
Just switch to cycles and then it should already work, just make sure you have enough light pass setting, and to add the glow effect you have to do it through compositor
Hmm for that im not sure, i would assume that when you render animation then compositing is applied witch each frame, but if thats not the case then check some blender forums for help in that regard ;)
@@Simon3D I used it on one character the way you done it here, then a second character I put it just on hand using cubes, really good, Simon 3d will you do a levitating character next, with the effects around it well she moves up n down
