Ladies, gents and teddy bears. We hope you enjoyed this wonderful video of “Just Jane”. Don’t forget you can actually get a taxy ride too at the LAHC. A Lancaster Bomber had a crew of seven; a pilot, navigator, bomb aimer, flight engineer, wireless operator, mid gunner and rear gunner. Deliveries of the Lancasters were often carried out by women. How many women did it take to fly a Lancaster? Answers below please…
Big shout out to Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre. Wonderful to visit and a marvellous team passionate in conserving and preserving our precious history & legendary aircraft. Had a fantastic day there.
Beautiful video of such a special aircraft. Thanks a lot Ted and Nikos for once again taking us behind the scenes at East Kirkby. It was great seeing Ted in the cockpit also. What an honour for our Squadron Leader Lest we forget.
An absolutely fantastic day at East Kirkby and extremely proud & lucky to be a member. The tour and history of Just Jane and the Mosquito was fascinating and very interesting. Had the privilege and honour too, to meet a wonderful WW2 veteran who was celebrating his 98th birthday. He was a "Tail End Charlie" on the Lancasters. It's a marvellous museum and well worth a visit. Thank you Andrew & the Team there.
Totally in awe of what the airmen went through. The info on conditions and loss of life are quite staggering statistics! We thank them for their service. We thank East Kirby for their love and dedication to bringing these beauties back to how they should be? Flying and restored for us all to enjoy. Respect! To our RAF past and present. Hugh thanks to East Kirkby.
Love this! If you ever find yourself in Lincolnshire with some time to spend, East Kirkby is well worth visiting! Some great aircraft, lots of information on the Dambusters raid Operation Chastise and its preparations. And Ted in the Mosquito... an unforgettable day!
Well said Arjen, it is a must visit fantastic HC and the staff/volunteers are wonderful. Be sure to take advantage of a tour and be sure to check out their events too
What a great place! What about those aircraft? The Lancaster! A real beauty.. 💯 % No wonder that last years stream from East Kirby is one of my favourite ever. Fantastic place, fantastic aircraft and ace info. Love ❤️ " Just Jane" Respect! 🫡 to all that served alongside and flew the Lancaster
I was lucky enough back in the 80's to be ordered to go to RAF Scampton by my Co with a colleague from our base at Digby, we got a free tour inside the Lancaster PA474 of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (BBMF) kindly given to us by the technicians working on the aircraft. Cheers for the video Ted.
Thanks for this tour of "Just Jane". My uncle (my Dad's brother) was part of a Lancaster crew that didn't come home after a raid. I have the telegram that was sent to my Grandpa and other memorabilia. I wasn't born until after the war but am honoured to have his first name as my middle name. I always have a tear in my eye when I see the BBMF at e.g., Airbourne. I also saw the last two flying Lancasters at Southend Airport when they were on their UK tour a few years ago, and was able to talk with the crews.
What an incredible history "Just Jane" has! I really loved this video! Looks like Ted enjoyed his Mosquito ride! My guess is 5 women to fly a Lancaster - Pilot, FE, Nav, Radio, and maybe one gunner instead of the 3 gunners. What a great tribute this plane is. Love a good restoration, can't wait to see it become airworthy. We will remember them. We salute you P/O Christopher Witton Panton.
Oii oiii Eric thank you so much. It is incredible to time and effort put in to restore these historic aircraft and also to get it airworthy again. Amazing LEST WE FORGET
Can't wait to visit here this year hopefully. Been following the Mosquito for a number of Years now, but it's great I get to learn about a new Lancaster now and potentially and hoping see it fly within the next 10 years.

Great plane is Just Jane, hope she will be able to fly once again. I've got a picture of Just Jane taxying and Vera and Thumper flying over her when the Canadian lanc was over here

❤️🧸
Thank you for your company at the museum. It was very special. ❤❤❤
It was a lovely day
Thanks Margo
Look at that Mossie. I knew that there was an air worthy one in the US but I did not know that there was one in the UK.
Sadly the Mossie isn't airworthy, but even the taxi-runs are impressive.
Sadly this Mossie is not Airworthy but at least she can taxi ride
She was actually Built in April 1945.
Oii Oii, thank you, misread notes by Nikos. Gonna need a miracle edit on that
Nikos, it was Lord Lifford mate
Thank you for correction. Sorted out the typo 🤙🏼

Man...is there anyway to get tours similar to this for civilians? rcaf members?
It’s a heritage centre open to the public. So make sure you visit. Check out their website for entry fees and events.
