I never thought I would ever see this concert (albeit incomplete here) following the original broadcast in 1976 on the Phoenix PBS affiliate. I wonder if there is a complete version on RUclips or elsewhere. I saw him perform in Central Park, Manhattan in around 1967 and at Brophy Prep in Phoenix during the early 1970’s. I’ll never forget the opening song of his set in Central Park, “I’ll say it now” which appears on his Live in Concert release. I was simply blown away by the power of his singing and guitar accompaniment instantly. Like him, I was brought up in Far Rockaway. His death by suicide has haunted me.
Im a fan also. Never saw him live. Had the Phil Ochs Live album when I was very young. He had a great voice.
It looks like Eddie or Finbar Furie on the Irish pipes.
Phil Ochs lived for a short time in Edinburgh Scotland ,where his mother was born.
His ashes were scattered at Edinburgh castle
I was under the impression that it is Ed Sanders (a member of The Fugs) performing on the Irish pipes.
Why didn’t dylan turn up, wasn’t he supposed to be his pal!.
I like the From WHYY logo at the beginning
00:00 Patrick Sky played the pipes.
I wonder if Melanie knows this exists..
Great!
