If anyone else is using Squarespace to host their podcast Stephen is an excellent teacher. I have had to email him a question and watch the video multiple times, but he most definitely assisted me with my questions to point me in the right direction, very helpful! So, I give The Bearded Teacher a 10/10 !!!!!
Stephen is a lovely human! I'm not tech savvy and just followed everything he said but then a capital letter and a space derailed the apple podcast submission... but Stephen helped me through it! So grateful for his expertise. It was not his fault at all that it happened -- his tutorial was spot on. But he was integral to fixing it! And not even SquareSpace could help! Fingers crossed that all pops up tomorrow! So lower case letters and no spaces! Thank you, Stephen!
Thank you so much for this, Stephen! I found your podcast host review video when researching BuzzSprout and others, and you're the first person who informed me I could host it for free on my exisiting Squarespace site. I've been a Squarespace user for years and never knew I could host a podcast on my site. I may choose to move elsewhere later for reasons I don't even know just yet, but this is a great way for me to get started. Thanks for the detailed tutorial. I just followed along with you and created my podcast! 👍
This is an amazing tutorial, thank you Stephen. I had to search all over RUclips for all of the specifics that you noted, very simple and in one video. I appreciate your insight. x
I am a visual learner, so I watched chapters of this video repeatedly to learn what I should do when the time comes to start (or, in my case, transfer) my podcast on Squarespace. Note: My professors love using WordPress, but they RAVED about my Squarespace website❤️🔥! Only getting better with time (and great tutorials like yours).
You are a natural teacher. This podcast covers everything Ive been struggling to find elsewhere in one neat parcel. You took it from beginning to end in a methodical way and made my day/week/month. Thanks
Absolutely outstanding communication! Just subscribed after listening to about (5) others. Excellent teacher. Now I must binge watch your channel! Started a RUclips channel and now want to start a Podcast (weekly). I struggle with Squarespace so I really want to improve my skills. Top shelf!
Hallelujah this was perfect! I spent way more time than I’d like to admit trying to figure this all out using Squarespace’s how-to pages and was so lost and frustrated. This video saved the day thank you!!
Amazing tutorial! I am new to the woodworking le of podcasting and this video has made it manageable and easy to set up. Thank you!! You explain things extremely well.
Wow. I am just starting out and this is exactly what I needed. Thank you so much. You have a great teaching style and demeanor and I am happy to subscribe and dive into more of your content. Thanks again.
Bro, I just want to say that this is by far THE BEST VIDEO explaining the process with Squarespace. I went around in circles for 2 days with other videos and articles before finding this one. I had set up multiple podcasts in the past with Squarespace but the new layout had me so confused. THANK YOU FOR THIS! Just subbed and I'm currently deep-diving into the rest of your videos! Keep up the great work.
Thank you for guiding me in this process. I honestly was feeling super lost in the Squarespace Guidelines. You made this process so easy to follow! Wishing you all the success in your podcasts! 🙌🏽
This was so so helpful! I have been procrastinating because setting up a podcast seemed extremely confusing and complicated. Your step by step no fuss method will have my podcast running!! Thank you Stephen. I would also love to see a simple tutorial for editing and adding music to the audio. Thanks again. ❤️
Stephen rocks, everyone! If you need extra help, he's amazing. He's helping me perfect my website and get my podcast launched. Thank goodness I found him here!!! :)
Hi Stephen I followed your video on how to set up your podcast on my Squarespace website and then connect to Apple Podcasts etc and it was brilliant. The only problem for me is that the formatting on Apple Podcasts is not the same. Do you have any videos on how to make the formatting work on Apple Podcasts? Many thanks for your time.
Hey Stephen, thanks man, I was very confused with all the podcasting structure this video cleared my vision for SquareSpace structure. I do have one question, do I need to do this RSS feed process every time I post a new episode or it is just one time work? And what happens when I post new episode?
Glad I could help! You only need to do the RSS feed part once when submitted your show to Apple, Google, and Spotify. Never have to mess with it again. Then once you Publish a new episode in the “blog page” in squarespace, it will automatically push to all the podcast providers.
Squarespace doesn't support video podcasts that I'm aware of. But honestly, I would just create a RUclips channel and post the video episodes there, way better for discovery.
Stephen - Thanks! I just used this to fine tune our podcast setup on Squarespace! Question: At about 1:55 you mentioned that you have suggestions on how to showcase episodes on a Squarespace website other than using the blog view. I didn’t see that section. Is it in a different video? Any suggestions?
This video is terrific! Helped me get my podcast out. Need to upgrade so will look foward to see my incredible videos. I have outgrown where i put my podcast. can i move my podcast from one spquarespace site to another squarespace site?
Thanks! I believe you can import content from one Squarespace site to another, but if you're looking to upgrade your podcast host, I'd recommend looking at transistor.fm
This is a very well-done software tutorial. Very useful information as I'm researching for a client's setup. Thank you for the clarity and visual walkthrough of the entire process-I very much appreciate this 👍🏾
This was such a great tutorial! You told me exactly, what I wanted to know. Have you made any videos about checking statistics on a podcast hosted on Squarespace yet? I'd love to see that!
Thanks! I haven’t, but Squarespace doesn’t provide in-depth metrics on downloads. I would recommend integrated with podtrac.com (which you can do in Squarespace) to get better metrics.
what a brilliant guide! this is exactly what i needed, and explained so wonderfully too! is there any limit to how big the file size can be per upload? in other words, can i upload a 200mb audio file at once, or will i have to separate it/cut it to a certain file size constraint?
Thanks! Looks like Squarespace has a limit of 160MB per audio file. Rather than break it up I would recommend using a lower bitrate, maybe 96kb MP3 to fit it all in one.
This video was so very helpful and I thank you for keeping it simple and to the point. Question though, how do you add url feed to spotify to an already created podcast?
Glad it was helpful! Is the podcast already in Spotify? For that you can claim ownership by going to the Spotify for podcasters page, searching for the podcast, and then claim a show via email. Otherwise, take the rss feed from your Squarespace podcast and go to the same Spotify for podcasters page to submit it!
Sorry for the multiple questions.. but once you hit publish.. how do you know when your podcast is live? Do you get some sort of notification from Apple or Spotify? And if you have a link to more RUclipss on changing the blog/podcast layout, editing SS pages, etc that would be great!
Apple and Spotify will send you confirmation emails, but remember your Squarespace website has to be live and published in order for the RSS feed to be approved by those podcast platforms.
@@beardfm How can we make a site look as polished as yours? Also, what led to you making this video? I find it cool that you took your time to walk with us, step-by-step to help us.
Amazing video! My question: I have purchased a license from Audio Jungle for the rights to briefly use some music as part of my Podcast intro/outro. When completing the Content Rights Tab for Apple podcasts, should I click the box that says: This show has rights to its third party content? Thanks so much for the help!
Hey! THanks for this! I'm hitting a snag though, I'm getting messages from apple and spotify that something has gone wrong, and please try again. I just loaded, should i wait a day?
Hi this is awesome! Loved it and you were so helpful! I followed all your steps :) My one question is how do I know my volume level is right for the podcast? When I play my podcast on my Mac (after normalizing the sound) it's much softer than current published Apple podcasts. Any suggestions? I don't know what amplification it should be or does the podcast hosting site increase volume on their end when they post? I'm using Audacity to edit and finalize the episodes. Thank you!
Thanks! What’s your podcast? I can take a listen. And normalizing does a variety of things depending on the number of tracks, loudest sounds, etc. Are you using a USB or XLR mic? You can also add a compressor and increase the gain for additional volume. Just don’t want to peak / distort
@@beardfm OMG you rock. It's a Yeti Nano...so USB? I think..not a dynamic mic. I don't have it published yet. I just edited 5 eps. You lost me with the "compressor gain" lol. Can I contact you via your website? I'd love to share my short intro. This/your video is what taught me everything I needed to know about building the podcast and launching it on SS.!
Hi, Stephen: Just uploaded my podcasts to Apple/Spotify thanks to this video. I have one question. Is there a way on Squarespace to include the Artwork for each episode, so it shows on those platforms next to the episode? I'm not seeing that as an option when filling out all the info for each one.
Wow! Great video, thank you! I'm still setting up my Squarespace site and discovered I could add my podcast to it, which led me to this video! I'm curious to know your opinion on the advantage to hosting my podcast on my own website vs another host service? I'm also considering other hosts and I'm specifically interested in how my podcast will interact with ads if I publish through my own site.
Thanks! I actually prefer to host my shows at transistor.fm as they have lots of podcast-specific features and is really made for hosting. If you’re just trying to deliver a show without dynamic ads or transcript integration, Squarespace works fine, but I’d go with transistor.
Fabulous tutorial. Pro-tip for learners (esp with ADHD or others who struggle to pay attention when there's a million arguably helpful tangents): set playback to 1.5x to keep from getting too lost.
So great! Thank you! One question: Can you add a RUclips video of the podcast as well? Or will that break the RSS feed thing when submitting to Apple/Google/Spotify?
Great video! Thank you! 👏 Can I ask Stephen - I have a Buzzsprout account already with 35 episodes and also a Squarespace website (running for the past 2 years) but I never used the podcast blogpost feature for my podcast, only the standard blogpost feature for both articles and podcasts (embedding the buzzsprout player). Do you think it's a good idea to create a blogpost specifically for the podcast on Squarespace and feed in there the past episodes and any future ones, but still keep running Buzzsprout aswell? Will it confuse the SEO or feed of our Channel (which is already on iTunes, Spotify and GooglePodcasts). Thanks 😊
Hey Catherine, I would keep doing what you’re doing. Buzzsprout offers more features and better analytics specifically for podcasting. Since your show is already hosted there and has been since the beginning, I’d keep it there and embed the player like you have been.
Hello Stephen, thank you so much for this video. It has helped me immensely however, I have a question after posting a podcast episode how do I delete it from Apple podcast?
So question, do I hit connect on the feeds settings before I record my first podcast/trailer? Or do I connect after? if i dont have an audio file quiet yet, do I not "connect" until i do?
Wait til you’ve uploaded a first piece of audio, either trailer or first full episode to connect. Apple Podcasts requires at least one piece of audio present
Hey Sophia! Unfortunately Squarespace doesn’t have an “import podcast rss” option. You would have to manually create all the archive episodes as blog posts in Squarespace, then change the RSS feed in all the distribution platforms. You may want to look at Buzzsprout for hosting! They can import all your old episodes and they have great features specifically for podcasters.
You don’t have to use Squarespace, this was mainly for people that already had a website and didn’t want to pay an additional hosting provider for their podcast.
If you have your podcast hosted somewhere different than your website, but you like both platforms, of course, keep them both! My website is Squarespace: beard.fm and my podcast is hosted on Buzzsprout: mots.fm
Enjoyed the video, very well done! My question is regarding the same process but for a private podcast (members only). Is that doable and will is work with Squarespace membership block? Thanks.
You can create a member area and put your podcast page behind the paywall, and once members gain access they can find the RSS feed to add to their podcast player. For supporter-only shows, I would recommend checking out Memberful or Patreon. They have better tools for private RSS feeds and measure to prevent sharing the URL to people who don’t pay for access.
Great video! Since we use Blog pages to host podcast episodes, when on the Podcast page I created there is that "Read More" link that shows up and it's redundant because if you click on the episode name it takes you to the page where the audio file is, and when you click "Read More" it takes you to the same place. I can't figure out a way to remove the "Read More". Any ideas?
Thanks! If you go to the page settings for the blog page, there should be post options that allow you to remove it. Otherwise you *could* create a new page with a summary block that pulls in the podcast episodes and you get more design customizations there.

You may want to look at Buzzsprout for hosting! They can import all your old episodes and they have great features specifically for podcasters.
@@beardfm Do you think it even matters if Squarespace is used at all?
You don’t have to use Squarespace, this was mainly for people that already had a website and didn’t want to pay an additional hosting provider for their podcast.
@@beardfmYes, so you think it makes sense to have two hosting providers?
Thanks for taking the time to clarify this for me.
