Got Windwaker with my twin brother at Target back in 04'. We had no idea what The Legend of Zelda was at the time, but everytime we figured out a puzzle, cleared a dungeon, or got a new area on our sea chart we were so ecstatic. Been a huge Zelda fan ever since, and while Wind Waker isn't my favorite zelda game of all time, it'll always have a special place in my heart. (My favorites are a fourway tie between Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Twilight Princess, and Tears of the Kingdom)
This is engraved in my mind after playing this for a straight year and completing the sea chart. There's a lot of stuff in my life I don't have but at least I'll always be able to cherish these memories. Love you guys, sea you around.

Nothing will ever hit home just like The Legend of Zelda: The Windwaker but very few games come close to it: First being Sea of Thieves and second Valheim, both great games with the same idea. Always and will love Windwaker!
I was a 2000’s DS kid and played Phantom Hourglass before ever playing Wind Waker. Hearing the Wind Waker ocean theme always fucks me up because it sounds like a wrong version of Phantom Hourglass’s theme 😂

The experience of sailing through the open blue sea with this song is amazing every time. No other game has evoked such feelings of freedom and bliss in me. Also I love how the triumphant section at 1:22 almost evokes the call-and-response of a sea shanty!
Played this game for the first time about a year ago at 26 years old, no attachment or nostalgia (I never played any Zelda games as a kid) and this is one of the only games I've played in recent years that's stuck with me. I think it can truly be called a masterpiece because it's so impactful to a completely new player even being as old as it is, a timeless classic even more so than any of the other Zelda games. I tried all of them and the only ones able to hook me to the point where I completed them are Wind Waker, Skyward Sword, and Breath of the Wild. Going to play Tears of the Kingdom soon, I'm glad this series exists.
I love that the original trumpets aren't as loud, that way the theme feels less cartoony and more balanced. It also adds to the moments where you go through a storm as the violins play, or when the bass kicks in when you open a chest during the setting sun. It's even better when you hear it start up as the sun rises again.
I remember back when i was a kid my brother and i would play this game every day, though i was doing more watching than playing lol, but this brings me back to those sleepless nights as a little kid with no worries in the world
20 year later, The Great Sea is still the single best piece of music ever put into a Zelda game. Koji Kondo and his crew outdid themselves with this one.
I had my first boat trip recently. This song came to my mind first, played this on the deck while sailing across through the cloudy, rippling vast sea with a few rocky forested islands on the other side. It was one of the greatest experience I've had in my life.
If they do port it, I want them to actually complete the game. Because as good as WW is, apparently it's unfinished. Like, there was supposed to be another dungeon or two or three. If I had my way, they'd make it a port of the original (but finished), not the HD remake.
It really fits what you do while sailing between islands; riding the wind, the ocean swelling up and down, with occasional seagulls, enemies at outposts, treasure markers, and more. It is the perfect adventure theme.
Same here. At least the one i got close to completing. The first zelda game i saw was ocarina from my older brother. That opening music still ingrained

This just feels like… great. I can‘t describe it, it‘s not possible. Just like a great longing being fulfilled
OUR era love this track.
the amount of goosebumps I got hearing this again, i originally heard the theme from phantom hourglass but nevertheless, i never finished that game despite having the ability to, gives me a sense of longing pain and nostalgia to maybe finish it, and this song PUTS SO MUCH SALT TO THE WOUND
while ofc not all negative like holy frig did i miss this song, absolutely amazing song
Playing this while underway on the ocean in real life is surreal
My fav Zelda theme Good times
unlike some other folks I actually experienced the original Wind Waker on my cousin's GameCube. I was a kid when I did it, and the GameCube eventually stopped working shortly after I finished the Tower of Gods (with my cousin's help admittedly) and getting the HD version made me so happy cause I got to play Wind Waker again.
I still haven't beat it, and the moving company kinda sorta messed up my Wii U beyond repair, so... that's unfortunate... but I still have memories, I suppose.
Theres always an emulator if you really want to play the game.
Edit: theres also a possible switch port you can hope for too!
@@FredDoesStuff0423 oh yeah!!! If Online gets a GameCube port I'm gonna lose my *mind* I know that for sure.
I've never played this game, but lately I've been listening to some Zelda soundtracks and now I want Nintendo to make a port of wind waker for switch so bad... The game looks gorgeous and the soundtrack is phenomenal.
Pure adventure
love's a many, splendid thing - all you need is love!
