    As the CMDR who discovered this farm, I am just glad to see that it has spread throughout the community. When I found this location only 24 CMDR's had been to the system according to EDSM, now fleet carriers are always present.
    I discover candidate planets by cross referencing the Cannon biology database with EDSM queries. Then I use an easily identifiable landmark to do mapped farming, here I get 150 Selenium in 20 minutes.
    Landmark: Black "Z" shaped mark by large crater
    Location: 52.6000 | -165.8786

      Its not as fast as 150 in 20mins buts its still a great farm. I got about 50 in 30-45mins the spawn rates for manganese are just way higher but thats fine and makes sense since its a less rare material.

    These still work as of 1/15/24, just reposting for those who dont want to dig. All but Selenium can be harvested using the flak cannon / limpet method. For some reason the limpets dont recognize the Selenium shards when blasted off so you still have to use the SRV.
    Polonium : HIP 36601 C1A , Sight doesn't really matter its almost everywhere on the planet as long as you land at a Crystalline shard sight ( use detailed surface scanner then filter for Crystaline shards)
    Ruthenium : HIP 36601 C1D , -24.6, 105.35 in between the mountains its a bit hard to see so fly low when arriving !
    Tellurium : HIP 36601 C3B , 67.00, 131.75
    Technitium : HIP 36601 C5A , 3.746, 78.68
    Yttrium : Outotz LS-K D8-3 B5A , -1.9216, -145.7013
    Antimony : Outotz LS-K D8-3 B5C , -62.4905, 80.2426
    Selenium : HR 3230 3 A A, 45.66, -30.49 (really find any brain Tree forest to get, pretty much everywhere but you will probly have to relog a few times to fill up.)

    Attention commanders!
    Urchinow here, I found an incredibly good location to maximize your grind for selenium. The following braintreecluster contains ONLY "Polyporous Growth" which causes a drop probability from 20% to 25% of Selenium. In addition to that it is also way less annoying if you dont have to filter the "polyporous growth" out of the other types that are useless (there are 5 different types)
    The coordinates for this cluster are:
    (45.665 / -30.497)
    I needed for the first 60 units of Selenium around 1 hour in mixed clusters with other kinds of growth till I found this cluster. There I could gather 90 in 20 minutes, that was incredible fast! I hope I could help you guys and enjoy your selenium!

    Finally got around to try this with a prox mine launcher. I definitely recommend dive bombing runs in a high speed ship. It's highly entertaining. I hauled my engineered imp courier out of mothballs and really enjoyed buzzing over the landscape at 600 m/s in vr. I also tried an unengineered Dolphin and Clipper, which also worked well.
    A single prox mine's blast radius can destroy a lot of growths, and it's definitely easier than shooting them out of a tree, one a time. Hovering just over the treetops is close enough for the ship scanner to see if enough good materials spawned. If not, just keep looking for the next grove. If so, land, scoop up the good stuff quickly and move on.
    I haven't really figured out the spawn patterns, but it seemed like Selenium was more likely found in equatorial flat lowland regions, and Technetium and others seemed to spawn in the higher latitudes and slightly hilly higher altitudes.

    If you know how to read the percentage bar on a planet scan, you can find Selenium inside then bubble, especially lava planets. The third list will have the rares on it, IF its over 5% then you''l have a good chance to find a higher drop of rares. The engineers also have many moons near them with high rate rares on it too. Selenium usage is high for Thermal protection in shields and shield booster and thermal vent. Its a very useful rare.

    Just checked this place out today 19/12/2022 and it's still worth visiting if you have ODYSSEY. With so many Braintreeclusters around it's easy enough to grab some Selenium along with other mats. The big issue I have is that a high percentage of falling mats gets stuck in the trees, there for you will need to drive up to the tree's gently, your srv can get stuck in the tree itself. Overall, this is a frustrating grind tho.

    For what do you need selenium?

    • @BloodravenD
      @BloodravenD 4 месяца назад +1

      All materials that don't take up cargo space, are for engineering. Grade 4 of the Dirty Drive, Grade 4 of the Efficient Weapon, Grade 3 of the Thermal Resistant Shield, Grade 3 of the Weapon Power Focused Power Distributer modifications, as well as a some premium and standard ammo synthesis. There are a few other modifications that require it, but the ones I listed are the most useful of them.

      The other trees besides Polypourus also drop some grade 5 mats like Technetium and Rutherium. I've done Crystalline shards a few times and it is a bit faster, however I like this site a lot especially for Selenium.

    There's an easier way than that, just use EDDB, locate a system/planet in the bubble with high % of Selenium and volcanicity. That also has Geysers and look for Crystaline clusters (think that's what they were called), everyone I have been too has had Selenium on them and there easy to spot as you can see the Geyser plumes from quite a distance. Just time your shooting of the cluster so the geyser is at its lowest point otherwise the Selenium will shoot into space.

    • @MrDiMaggio5
      @MrDiMaggio5 Год назад +1

      The most you'll find is about 5% Selenium on a planet. With this method, you can find 1 cluster of trees that will give 150 selenium as well as other G5 raw mats in about an hour of farming in SRV.

    • @MrDiMaggio5
      @MrDiMaggio5 Год назад

      No they're not biological or geological sites like crystalline shards site. It must be an Odyssey thing as I didn't know you can filter in the system map. Just follow D2EA video, its the darker blue areas. Once you get close to surface, they're everywhere. You can also just drive SRV to new locations by watching scanner. This is a great find by D2EA!

      Travel to HIP 36601 C 3 b site 5 Tellurium - you'll have 150 of them in an hour. This guide is very helpful for all raw mats, and this video D2EA posted you'll have all your raw mats maxed in about 4 hours. So worth the trip as you can then trade down for all other raw mats. Roughly 1 out of 10-15 does actually do fall for me... they detach from the tree but just stuck on the branch. I need to get out on foot and jump, push it down with my body. (UPDATE: if it is stuck on the tree, the SRV stilll can collect it if the material is targeted, needs to go close to the tree to get it from the tree) It is very annoying, sometimes Devs see these videos then decide to destroy that farming method. Do they still believe that it should be a week of grinding for one level of engineering for one unit? Well I also hate that I need to farm these, but the other methods are very long.
    This game has so much potential yet they cannot balance it and things go sideways. Ody mats are collected by robbing the same few anarchy settlements, yet they should be mission rewards and salvage from fallen shipwrecks, smugglers/thieves storage, that would disperse players. Horizons materials come from Davs Hope, Jameson Site, and those raw farm planets, yet those also should be mission rewards and signatures, salvaging from wrecks. Salvaging could be a real thing... like salvage laser could extract material from ship wrecks, raw and manufactured depending on ship type. Passenger missions when I last tried were either to 10-20K ly targets for ridiculously low price or the thug smuggling between Robigo and Sothis. There could be passenger missions between tourist settlements and other stations so those passenger ships would actually make sense, and a new cast of space truckers could arise: the space bussers. We have 400 billion systems yet most of the carriers are like insect swarms, wiping trade/mine possibilities from other players, yet those should not be allowed in the bubble or at least they should not have cargo capacity.
