Do you know Time!!!!. Latest Locos have a Valve connected to the Horn so that the pressure can be controlled which in turns control the Volume of the horn. Old Locos do not have that option but new Versions of WDG/WDP have them....

If you're wondering why the fans aren't spinning, that's because they're not for cooling the engine. These locomotives use dynamic brakes. When these are used, the electric motors temporarily become generators, absorbing the kinetic energy of the train (thus slowing it down) and turning it into electrical energy. This energy then goes to massive resistor banks in the roof, where it gets dissipated as heat. Those fans are there to blow the heat away, which is why they only turn on when the dynamic brake is used.

aaj kal sab off karte hein .. i think as per rule if loco will not be used for an hour or so they switch off and then start. it takes 15 minutes before you can move the loco but yes the diesel is saved when they turn off. not much diesel is used in switching on a loco
