- As the impacts of COVID-19 continue to ripple around the world, the aviation industry has been hit hard with the cease of global travel. Many airlines have been forced to take extreme measures to mitigate these impacts, with Virgin very sadly being one of them as it tries to survive the crisis.
In an announcement yesterday, it was awful to here of the 3000+ expected job losses in addition to the reduction in fleet size which sadly see's the immediate retirement of all Virgin Atlantic's B747-400 fleet in addition to the withdrawal of operations at Gatwick airport.
Its truly shocking the scale of impacts of which COVID-19 has had to the industry in the space of just a few months. Our best wishes go to those affected by these cuts and changes and hope that the industry is able to recover in the near future.
We have compiled this short video of some of our favourite clips of numerous different Virgin 747's at Manchester throughout the last few years. Last summer Manchester saw a high frequency of Virgin 747 flights at Manchester with up to 4 flights a day. The 747 has been an integral part of Virgin's Manchester operation and we are saddened to see this iconic aircraft removed from service. It will be truly missed! Кино
This is truly heartbreaking. Godspeed to them all... the flying ladies are gone but never forgotten.
The flying lady has been replaced by the flying trans, black and gay person.
Part of the history of our lives and of the contemporary era is disappearing in our eyes. Only good memories.
Absolutely gorgeous I loved flying on the 747 virgin Atlantic to Orlando Florida 🇺🇸🌴❤️🥰😘😘
Had so many childhood memories on this beast
Manchester will be a less appealing place without these beautiful big birds. And to think that we took these for granted. I was always so proud, sat at some American airport waiting to be taken home and one of these showed up in amongst the ‘sameness’ of the twin engines planes. Won’t be the same without them. Desperately sad.
Barry Coomer jjj
So sad, flown Jersey Girl, Ruby Tuesday & Barbarella, all Manchester to Vegas, best takeoff experience ever, goodbye old girls, you’ll be very missed 😢😢
Stunning video guys, and a very fitting tribute to an iconic plane ✈️
Beautiful tribute man! So sad to see her go!
I do miss seating upstairs in the 747-400s. Great airc raft to fly on!!! Simply great!!!
Yes, typing to fast sometimes. Yes, this aircraft- one word together I'd better. Thanks.
Such lovely crew, 747s fantastic. Love travelling on this. Wey we a go do now😢
OUTSTANDING TRIBUTE! Love It!
🇬🇧 Virgin Atlantic ❤️👑
The most beautiful girl ever built
Lovely shots of these Virgin Atlantic 747s - definitely sad to see them go, but lucky that you were able to film them so many times! :)
She's so beautiful! A real Queen Airplane!👑
Very sad times, loved getting up close to the Queens at Manchester
i have flew on many of virgins 747 was ment to fly on another 1 at the end of the year from Manchester so hopefully i will get on a 787 or a350
So many good memories! My first ever 747 flight was with Virgin Atlantic. Flown on their 747s 3 times. Hopefully BA won't retire their 747s. BA is the sole surviving UK airline with the 747.
I say the same. I hope they can keep their word and honour it until 2024. I hope they fly again back in the skies where they belong. Flew on both BA & Virgin 747 loved it
@@rajnirvan3336 Same here. I've flown on both BA and Virgin 747's. WIth BA I've flown upstairs in the hump both times. Absolutely loved it. Very sad to see the 747 being phased out. It's one of those iconic aircraft that we don't like to see go away forever.
@@GregLloyd76 Exactly sad feeling. Was glad I came back from Miami last year on BA 747 probably the last time
Amazing tribute pal. So sad to see them go
Many emotions...
Absolutely terrible news, but great to see you got some outstanding footage of them at MAN while you could. I sent you guys an email, hope to hear back from you soon :D
I'll miss travelling in the bubble. Hard to believe this has all happened in the space of a few months.
It's sad to see her go and i never will get to go on one now 😭
Ethan's Aviation same I was ment to go on one to Orlando in August, I’m devastated
Stupendo , stupendo , stupendo....♥️🇮🇹
Sad, sad, sad! Beautiful!
Vind het een fantastisch vliegtuig, spijtig dat ik het nooit echt van dichtbij heb kunnen zien, dat is mijn grootste wens nog dat ik het kan zien en er mee vliegen.
Incredibly sad to see them go... nice footage though, big like!!
Let’s hope Virgin survive and move forward with the long haul from Manchester.
A true long haul airport for the north of England. Looks like uk longhaul will be top, middle and bottom of the U.K. ( one Scottish airport, Manchester and London/southeast )for the foreseeable future.
Nice video! I loved seeing the Queen of the skies at Manchester. Amazing
indeed
now that was awsome footage
So sad.😪
It is sad to see a liot of 747's retired, and some sent to be scrapped but i remember when BA scrapped its trident aircraft at Heathrow and used JCB's on them to break them up and i found that rather painful at the time, a friend of mine a great aviation enthusiast bought part of a Dan air comet in to my workplace a remnant of it, that had of course had the excavator treatment and was very heavy to hold just that small section!!
Nice video, thx ♡♡♡.
You certainly dont get much closer than that. Really nice views of Virgin 747s and the sound is great! Really well filmed.
Fabulous,my ex-wife and I took our kids to Florida back in 2003, and it was our first experience of virgin Atlantic. Great flights and fabulous holiday. Pity about the ex wife lol!
I’ll miss her
So cute. The big wide bodies tale off. Nice.
Sad end to what Virgin Atlantic was the Boeing 747 (All Variants). Be strange not seeing a Virgin plane with 4 engines just won't be the same as it began. I was happy to fly in 2012 Gatwick to Las Vegas on Pretty Woman & returned on Hot Lips. I'll got few 1/400 scale Gemini Jet die casts which I will keep forever.
Raj Nirvan awww I travelled on Hot Lips a few times too 😭
I travelled on Tinkerbell, Jersey Girl, English Rose, Pretty Woman, Hot Lips, Calypso something or the other, over the years in and out of Gatwick. This past Christmas we came into LGW on The Falcon. Heartbreaking. My absolute fav airline has to retire my fav Queen (after The Concorde of course). 😔😔😔😔
Very sad day for aviation 😢
The boeing 747 ...the world first wide body jet plane since 1969...Sadly...seeing these planes one by one gone...it's a historical iconic aviation N a famous big wide jet in the 80's.
B 747 - 8 is the last model...I love that plane...
B 747 ..lovely planes that we won't see them flying anymore :(
It will be weird not to see these at MAN anymore 😨
G-VROS will always hold a special place in my heart 😔❤️💔
Already miss you 😭😭😭 i wish I could have saved you real tears crying
Great video. Sadly due to COVID-19 which has impacted Aviation Industry financially, they have sent those 747 aircraft off to retirement. Everything is going to be different following those changes at every airlines (not just Virigin Atlantic) as other older and inefficient aircraft are retired early.
What a beauty.
Does this mean that the A350-1000 will start operating here as they are replacing the 747-400's?
Plus. I saw the 747-400 (twice and A340-600 from Virgin Atlantic just 2 months before lockdown. I got pictures of them so I can forever remember these great aircraft
Very sad
That butter though! Am I right??
Anyone no what they will be operating on the Manchester - Orlando route now they have retired the 747-400
If they are surviving after coronavirus pandemic, I would imagine they would use either A330-300, A330-200 or possibly B787. But not sure yet
Joshua Anderson I heard that they are swapping the 747s with a350s but I don’t recon this will happen straight away so I think they will be using the a330
@@J.T.J8618 ah right thank you👍
I hate this.Were my favourite.nice video
Het is niet schip in de lucht
Moet erg pijn gedaan hebben voor zijn laatste vlucht, ook voor de piloot die de laatste vlucht heeft gemaakt
