- In this video I discuss some of the evidence for the existence of the Indo-Germanic Mannebunde and the Ulfhednar of Odin.

Great work. Anglo Saxon’s history deserves to be told and venerated
For what?
Agreed!
Great video. More on the Wolf Cult would be much appreciated.
Woah, this is saturated with information. I would love to hear a part 2
I'm curious, I may have missed it but you mentioned that by Snorri's time the idea of Ragnarok was relatively new, do you have source material or reference that goes over this?
Hey Bjorn! Thank you for your comment, and I'm glad you asked for clarification. I'll make sure to cover this in a later video!
When I refer to Ragnarok as relatively new, I should've clarified that I meant in terms of my comparison with the concept of the Einherjar. Whilst we see numerous references to the Einherjar in the pagan periods of Viking history - whereas our main source for Ragnarok is in the poem Voluspa, which was written at the height of Christian efforts to convert Iceland. There is a growing argument that places Ragnarok as a relatively late story, inspired by Christian tradition, but whether or not this is true or was actually a 'new' idea is certainly up for debate.
It's something that's definitely worth a deeper look at though, and I plan to cover it in a future video!
@@thefyrdsman9590 Excellent, I fully understand. Thanks for all the info!
I would also
@@thefyrdsman9590 Not really wrong though. Snorri took out from verbal poems and more. Second one who dreams the gods cannot be making things up like on Loki, as I did. Odin with spear ain't something from the Christians. He had no reason to change. Besides got even attacked by his own after such books as heretic. Cycles aren't new. This ain't much christian thing.
In German, the word Volk = folk/people. In Russian, Volk = wolf. Could it be the Russians had grown skeptical of the German “Volks” after encountering these wolf warriors?
Not really. Russians are also indo-European. They had their own wolf rites
Very good video. I'm currently reading Kris Kershaw's "The One-eyed God: Odin and the (Indo-) Germanic Männerbünde" (in German). Your video gives a good overview of / introduction to the topic.
Have you ever looked into sven lagerbring.
I watch this thinking how I could exclude myself near wolfs and bears for a winter,in hope of becoming the first modern Ulfhednar, by Woden it must be someones Destiny
Do you have any plans on doing a video about the "Jöfurr" or swine-headed cultic warriors of the Saxons?
Hey man, I went to highschool with you and your brother! I've always found your IG content so interesting and I hope this channel kicks off well for you! Keep it up man! 🤘🤘
Thanks Josie! I do remember you, think you were in my brother's year? Hope you are doing well and keeping safe.
Amazing work! Thank you for making this.id definitely like to see more videos about the wolf cults, and mannerbunde, this video was very concise and direct. It helped me learn a few words that I had been seeing, during my research ulfhednar (spelling), and gave me some great takeaways on how this all worked back in those times. Subscribed and liked. Thanks for making it so easy to understand. Also would you care to share the song in the end?
Dog? Thought it was Wolf, Bear, or Wild Boar?
Well done! Two big avenues of broader Wolf Cult research that I’m sure you’re aware of but I’ll plug anyway for others;
Apollo the Wolf God
The research being done at Krasnosamarskoe
This is a very old Aryan Tradition indeed
The process of creating an ulfhednar contains all the elements of how indigenous tribal shamans are made. Have run into Viking historians who say the berserkers and ulfhednar were a type of shaman.
I’ve just subscribed, and you’re offering a very scholarly but simple interpretation of these topics. As a visual learner this is amazing. Thank you! Keep the videos coming, dude.

11:17 in Galicia (northwest of the Iberian península), the Hunt is also called "Hoste Antiga", the Ancient Host. So, again, a reference to an army of the dead. In the Vth century the pagan Suebi conquered and settled in this province, so who knows...
Waiting for more!
Hey! Loved this video. Have you read 'the hanged god: odin grimnir' and 'Wolfs-Head: Óðinn, The Ecstatic God of Tethers and Skin-Turning.' two books by the same author, Shani Oates. She touches a lot on the Odinnic wolf cults, berserkirs, Úlfhéðnar, the cult of odin etc. Something you might be interested in reading. She is by far my most favourite author when it comes to academic and factual research as well as spiritual.
I haven't, actually, but thank you so much for the recommendation! I'll have a hunt for them now.
Hell yes....always been killing it dude keep this up pallleeasseeeeeeeee
Thank you! Don't worry, I intend to make these videos regularly!
I would love to learn more about the wolf cults. Such a fascinating piece of history
Jarl Eirikr Hakonarson outlawed Berserkers in Norway the year 1015 not 1215. But the berserkers were used in battles 1066 and probably longer, paganism existed well in to 13th century in Sweden.
The pix with the man with an helmet with 2 snakes ( Jormungandr) and the wolf (Fenrir). Odin is the KORyonos. (Core of the Earth.) Loki is the Earth mag pole. When the distance between earth mag pole and geographic pole increase like now. It's like an unbalanced wheel who create more friction between the core (Odin) and the magma(Fenrisulfr.) Increasing internal warming causing the evaporation of the water (Jormungandr) in the earth's crust (chain of Fenrir) and Oceans. Dryed crust become more thinner the chains of Fenrir become fragile. Massive Earthquake and Tsunami come but Thor will kill Jormungandr and Vidar will kill Fenrir. In the movies Underworld i think Jormungandr is Markus the vampire and William is Fenrir the wolf. Ragnarok is the period of Chaos when Odin die causing the end of earth mag field , but the Phoenix will rebirth !! Many solar gods are in fact core of the earth gods. To hiding to humans that the core of the earth is not eternal....Be prepare Ragnarok is coming !
The berserker, has nothing to do with bears!
In german people walking naked, are still to this day described as walking in their Adams costume.
That is basically a christianized version of calling someone a berserker.
Berserk - 'ber' - most likely bare and 'serk' - middle english serk - shirt - clothes
Berserk - bare clothed
The bear warrior would according to norse etymology have to be called Björnserk - Björserk or other simmilar combinations of Björn - bear, and serk - cloth/costume.
All from Dacia
Hmm.
I've got an idea. Maybe someone should point their paleoanthropological eyes to modern 1% motorcycle clubs. What was described in the video looks to have a striking number of similarities in structure to them.
Fantastic work pal. Excited to contribute in the not too distant future 😁
Your way of speaking is very enthralling, very much enjoyed the video :)
Great video. Very informative. But get rid of the annoying background music, please 🙂
I don't understand why the helmeted figure would be Woden. Those aren't horns; they're ducks. The helmet has duck wings. There's a duck motif on the Sutton Hoo helmet as well; it's wings are the warrior's brows and the tail is his moustache. Also, the figure is weilding two spears, both of which look to be of a piece, as opposed to the wolf-headed character whose spear is fully detailed. My guess is that these are performers in some kind of dance, and unless Woden has some assocication with ducks or geese (which he well might; I have no idea) that that figure is a performer unrelated to Woden. Also, in other images, the figure is duplicated, as if there are more dancers present.
Strong video, subscribed. Cheers from old Frisia, Haarlem.
Very interesting video. My only criticism is that the phrase "in spite of all evidence to the contrary" regarding belief in the existence of the spirit beyond death implies a materialistic bias that suggests that there actually is evidence to the contrary, which there is not. It's a physically untestable hypothesis with plenty of phenomenological evidence.
We have an ancient tradition called "Kukeri" in Bulgaria, I believe it may have simillar roots to Mannabunde or "the wild hunt"". The celebration involves young men dressing in intimidating costumes made of animal fur, masks, horns and special bells on their waist to scare off evil spirits.
Well done Cyneulf on doing this through source analysis! I think your channel is going to be really unique in its presentation of the facts, high brow shit! luv it!. also this must have taken a hell of a lot of editing! Really fantastic job! All the best - Martin
High praise indeed from you! Thank you man, much appreciated. I'm hoping to do it in less takes next time 😂

Great to see you've finally put these to a well formulated and researched video, mate. I'm hopeful to see more.
Great video. Very informative and straight forward. look forward to more.
Looking forward to more like this.
This believe that a warrior will forever live on was encountered in Dacian armies as well (based on the scarce Greek sources we have). Those sources claim that Dacian warriors believed themselves ro be immortal, which explains their ferocity in battle. A tragedy that not much is known about the Dacians. I feel a great part of Indo-European culture and worldview is lost
It's not, i'm working on it
Please do more videos on this it is fascinating
This was an excellent presentation! I'd love to see and learn more about these wolf cults.
Yes, more on the wolf cult of odin. Please.
Pleaaaaase, please do another video this is so interesting !!!
Don't worry, more will come! I'm also always open to suggestions on content!
@@thefyrdsman9590 Well, i have many questions for sure but my knowledge is so little about this topic that I don't know how to phrase my questions yet. Moreover, because of the same reason, I don't know if they are relevant haha. So, may you find the next topic for now and I will learn and see if that clears my mind ! 😃
More please good sir

Brilliant stuff 🔥
Interesting stuff dude! 😄
Thank you! Hope you're doing well man.
Amazing job!!
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it! 😁
And Oden live where ? Around ?
There were wolf cults but none had anything to do with Othin. They would have been more aligned with Fenrir.
Nicely done man 👍🏻
So are these the origins of the werewolf
Yahhh!! Battle cryyyyy!!

Great info! Keep it up!!!! Question - Are the modern "Dutch" of Scandinavian/Viking heritage? I guess I can google huh?

You're right there, that was an oversight on my part!

Beserker rites of passage!
Thank you for sharing this - finally a video which is not full of nonsense and those misrepresentations we see everywhere these days.
For those interested in proper research: You might wanna check out Arith Härger's work, too.
Harlekin
The king of the men with long hair
Haarleking (Hair king)
He was the leader of young man leaving the village, the house, the family to get a real strong man and a warrior. They went into the woods and learned to hunt, to live like a ulfhednar or a berserkir in the woods and to get their strength.
The young man with long hair was a sign that they were in education, in training to get a strong, wild man, a warrior. It was a alliance of young man to get strong warriors. It was pagan. Heathenish. It was theme in a Robin Hood film from 2010 with Russell Crowe as Robin Hood. But there was a good book too.
I have the book of all good books
I’d love to learn more.
I would very much like to learn about the differences in different tribes! I Always found it an interesting rite of passage that today can be similar to joining the military.
