I absolutely agree. Tutorials using the average player would help tremendously. Actually seeing the mistakes and how often they occur with pilots that don’t live and breathe pvp would help those that just give up if they don’t look as good as a seasoned pilot right away. Seeing they actually are not the only ones that need much more practice is quite helpful.

Regarding orientation - you can enable precision lines (via keybind only atm) and they will be two lines around the pip, vertical to the enemy plane of orientation. As long as you are keeping those at I O I you are rolling correctly with your target.

A cheaper option for now, if you own a mechanical keyboard already, is to buy a few analogue switch keys.
These are a niche thing that driving game players really like, but it makes the key into an analogue input.
Little weird for typing, but you can dial it in to be basically the same travel distance as your other keys.

VERY GOOD VID. Great step by step tips. I just need to develop coordination and situational awareness to apply it.
I also noticed and remembered something important at 5:00 into the video. His lead pip is not on the target but he is hitting it in the animation. I thought oh star citizen is miscalculating pips again but then i thought about it and figured it out.
PIPs in both aircraft and star citizen CAN'T KNOW WHERE TO AIM because the bullet will hit in the future and the aircraft can do any maneuver between now and the future. Therefore they make the assumption the enemy will travel in a straight line. With this assumption, placing cross hairs on the pip would have hit if the enemy was traveling in a straight line. Our enemy in this example is following a curved path so that's why the bullets are hitting with cross hairs shifted towards the center of the turn. You have shifted your aim because you assume he will continue his turn between now and when the bullet gets in range for possible impact.
Please someone correct me if I am wrong.

Roll Aim is interesting. Coming from traditional ww2 Sims, I have been flying with roll on X and yaw on pedals.
People kept telling me this is BS in space, so I am retraining although it is very hard to relearn 10.000s of hours of muscle memory.
The concept of roll Aim directly translates from warbirds, so with MM it seems like I can keep roll on my stick and just go with the precision I have already built playing like this.

Thanks for that breakdown and the detail (more importantly reasoning) behind WHY recommended actions work better. The M+KB hint of tapping to prevent overinput was actually a bruh moment for me. A past wrist injury means I cant use the sticks I do have for more than 10-15mins without it becoming agony (cost aint always the reason people use mkb folks). I'm beating off some of the post spanking depression by lowflying around canyons or stations, just to help with that feel and naturalisation of ship behaviour under various and multiple inputs for that sweet sweet seratonin.

Thank you ! very useful for new gamer ! what do you think of gimbal ? I know it decreases DPS but isn't it compensated by higher number of hits ?

I think most people do that with yaw on a less precise twist, because roll accuracy can be so important.
