A few years ago, when Brian stopped touring because of his back, he and his son went on tour. My wife and I saw his show and absolutely it. He talked with the audience and told stories about the songs he was singing. It was great! 😊

I have seen the Beach Boys in at least 5 of their concerts over the decades.
At 72 I still love their amazing harmonies.

Al not only has the most distinguished face of the Beach Boys, but also has a golden personality...I could listen to him talk all day too

he probably has the least brain deterioration of the surviving members. Still completely coherent, kind and genuine in every recorded situation. Compared to Mike, Bruce, and Brian he’s probably the only normal one. Zero drug past, zero open ego and nothing but just going with the vibe. Yeah it’s sad but at least we still have any member that still seems completely intact

From UK never met Al Jardine (followed Beach Boys since 60s), BUT he comes across as a really nice normal guy, a great dad and family man. Deserved all his success. Keep going Al, till you can't.

A few years ago Mr. Jardine posted pictures of himself and his wife attending a Moody Blues concert in California(before they finally got elected into the RRHOF). What a class act that was, letting folks know that The Moody's were deserving of being in there. He still has a great voice too and his California Saga trilogy(from Holland) along with Mr. Love is one of my favorites. Thanks for all the great vocals Mr. Jardine!

This is the only member of this band who probably had about as normal a life as you can get. He never drank, never smoked, and never did any drugs,

So nice to see and hear a really thoughtful interview and sitting with Al Jardine. I haven't seen many of them. Mostly brief snippets, a few words, and it's over with. Many interviews of varying length out there with Mike Love (often accompanied by Bruce Johnston). And Brian is not that conversant, gives brief, mostly monosyllabic answers in the interviews he gives these days.
So it's nice to hear from a gentleman that we don't hear that much from. And nicer still that you were able to have a lengthy conversation with him. Was very interesting. Thank you!

Last year, I had 4 tickets to a Brian Wilson Band
concert. Yes, Brian. Also, Alan and Matt Jardine.
That concert was "simply irresistible." They NAILED
    it. A Bucket List concert!
Al, and later on, Matt have kept my favourite band
alive, for 1/4 of my life! Not the beach boys. Brian's
band. (Well, 3/4th of my life, that was The Beach
Boys.) But, someone's cousin SHAT on that!

Nice interview, kind words shared, but Mike Love is the lead singer of The Beach Boys along with Brian, Carl and Al at times. Mike Love did play an instrument, saxophone and why is David Marks contribution of almost two years and the first four albums left out of the conversation.

Al is the most grounded of all 1960’s pop stars ! He is also , “ the greatest second chance in rock and roll “ ! Imagine quitting The Beach Boys and being asked back . He is the opposite of Pete Best !

The Beach Boys are unusual in the sense that their music is mainstream, but the individuals aren't celebrities. Brian is the most well known, but he doesn't have the personality for it. Mike does, and Dennis did. But they were always in Brian's shadow. Carl and Al were very laid back.

The Wilson girls cannot sing so not sure why they would be part of this musical group.

What do you mean "they cannot sing"? The have a whole singing career. Both their parents are singers. The even sang with the Beach Boys in the 50th year reunion. They're just... not Brian.
