For #6 for Miami to just decide to take a nap IN A PLAYOFF GAME, it makes me wonder if #6 bet on Atlanta. I'm not a soccer fan so I have no skin in the game, but this is patently absurd.
This MLS match was good.. spicy!! #6 from Inter-Miami is Thomas Aviles… don’t know what he was thinking! This is a great video analysis! Thanks Jimmy I enjoyed this one a lot!!
You ought to break down. Guzanne's saves during that game. He absolutely won the game for Atlanta! Also, number 6 played a hell of a game for Miami up until that last play where he gave up
Ones of the reasons I stopped watching. Realised one day how many teams trade actual tactics for what I called 'tactical diving'. As in getting the balk so far up the pitch then diving at the first challenge, get a free kick then repeating the tactic until a player sends the ball well over the crossbar and rinse and repeat.
Thanks Jimmy I enjoyed this one. I really did. Calling Brad Guzan the guy from Barry, and watching Messi’s team think they deserve special treatment. It’s all glorious, what a video
I’ve been on this damn MLS emotional roller coaster for the better part of 20 years, and I could not agree more. It’s seemingly some variety of pandemonium every single year. Fantastically entertaining tournament.
#6 with something straight outta the school yard playbook. Kill other team’s momentum by faking an injury and having the game paused. So glad it didn’t pay off.
I never expected Inter-Miami to be what the league said they'd be but Atlanta is getting hot at the right time. Just sucks there's 2 weeks between rounds, makes for sluggish starts to matches.
It is not. As jomboy said, he did not want to give Atlanta the opportunity to kill time. He will bring the ball to midfiled so the game can proceed. Players of teams who need to score some more to win always do this.
@@uptoti81 A) It was a tie game, so killing time is not a smart argument. B) The rules actually say the defending team that conceded the goal has the right to control the restart of the game and can get a yellow card if they do try to waste too much time. "jomboy said" doesn't make anything you said fact. Learn the game before you try to talk down to someone.
@@uptoti81 I agree that yes, the scoring team can always grab the ball to return it to midfield as Messi was doing. However, Guzan had literally just gotten the ball in his hands and didn't even have the opportunity to turn around yet. The fact that the other player pushed him is ridiculous. Guzan wasn't wasting time at all and likely wouldn't have wasted time since his team was not winning.
Stop the clock when the ball is out of play and this problem disappears. Time-wasting is the worst part about soccer and it only exists because they refuse to update their timekeeping system.
Technically, the team that's going to restart play is entitled to the ball. Attackers trying to rip it away from the keeper after scoring are not actually entitled to it.
Jomboy breaking down soccer makes me happy. Also: COME ON NEW YORK! We beat Cincinnati in a ridiculously stressful penalty shootout and now we host the Hudson River Derby against the accursed Red Bulls at Citi Field. May the spirit of Grimace bless us all.
It seems that Brad prefers his name to rhyme with "pan" instead of "flan". That said, all the other teams in the playoffs were rooting for ATLUTD in this elimination game because Miami is practically an unstoppable force since they have the arguably greatest soccer player of all time on their team, and a couple others that are considered to be better than most players that ever came out of MLS. Who WASN'T rooting for ATLUTD was MLS itself and Apple TV+. and I think that might have had something to do with why there was no card in the incident with Brad getting pushed into the back of the goal. Any other time that would be a straight yellow card without question. But this was Campangna in Miami, so no call. MLS and Apple have made tons of money off of Messi coming to and playing in America, and now in the first round of playoff elimination, he doesn't get to play anymore. Now people who used to not really care that much about soccer but watched the games when a certified legend was playing just to say they did will probably go back to not watching the remaining games.
thanks Jimmy, I enjoyed this one.. also, I live right next to the Orlando soccer stadium and I barely watch soccer so keep me posted if anything funny/cool happens. I know we're in the finals!
yeah ref messed up on the first play. defending team is meant to have rights to the restart but brad guzan (goo-zan) should have grabbed that ball and fallen on top of it (or maybe held on a little harder?). either way for both campana and suarez to escape without a yellow is a bit ridiculous. mls have been doing their utmost to make sure messi & co get as much screen time (including changing the playoff format) so it's particularly satisfying to see em go out early to something like this
Love seeing goals scored when players are on the ground now. Up until a few years ago play would always be stopped by the ref even when a team had an advantage, so this was exploited ALOT. Now pretty much the only time the ref is obligated to stop is for a head injury. Stay on the ground at your own peril.
This was a huge upset! It's like if the 73-9 Warriors lost in the first round of the playoffs. Inter Miami had the best regular season in the history of MLS.
He didn't do anything. Messi taking the ball was to make sure the goalie didn't waste time getting it back to play which isn't so bad. There was literally no reason for the Goalie to get shoved though. They're scumbags.
They would never hear the end of it, either in the locker room or from the fans themselves. But in soccer/football it's "strategy." Pathetic and embarrassing. So happy it failed miserably.
I geniunely don't understand soccer/football. What the actaul hell is the culture of this game? Why does #6 have a career??? How can anybody in the world take this game seriously when stuff like this just happens regularly and nothing is done about it? Like maybe a player can actually have a heartattack on the field and the play needs to be stopped for medics to save his life, but you can literally see this joke of professional athlete peeking through his fingers in the middle of his performance to check if the ref noticed him. In literally any other sport that would be an penalty, ejection, or a fine/suspension, but nah that's just "part of the game" in soccer apparently.
Literally nothing. Miami has a habit of “simulating” injury to stop the other team from attacking. It’s just one of the things they do that MLS has turned a blind eye to. Atlanta wasn’t having any of it and neither was the official. He didn’t see any reason to stop play - and by the rule it’s the center referees discretion. Frankly, I think he let it go because he failed to enforce the shove on Guzan and felt it was fair play to let it ride while Miami was essentially down a man by their own devices.
I have no love for Brad Guzan, who is a known time-waster when his team are on top. But to see him celebrate knocking out the best #1 seed in MLS history, one boasting one of the most notorious shithousers EVER in Luis Suarez, AND winning Man of the Match to boot, IS PHENOMENAL!

@@beaver_warrior Plenty of other sports don't stop the clock (either they only stop it for major delays (very common, e.g. rugby), or they have a version of soccer's outdated stoppage time approach (Aussie Rules and the Gaelic Games including Gaelic football, hurling, etc).
But I agree, I would fully support professional football being played as 30 minute ball-in-play halves, or at least time the 45 minute halves like rugby does, stopping the clock for major delays.
that's not a new thing, people have been doing this for ages, especially when they're getting back into the game or tied it so they can keep the momentum they have going
Jomyboy soccer breakdown let’s gooo
Yankees took such a huge L that he hopped over to MLS now.
Thanks Jimmy enjoyed that one!
me too, Jimmy!
Letting Messi score a free header in the box is like letting Tom Brady score a 25 yard rushing touchdown. Sure they are the GOATS it’s not their skill set, but what in the fuck are the defenders doing?
TIL Messi has only scored 28 headers
Having to play against the combination of Inter Miami, MLS, and PRO and still pulling off a victory.
Well, at least they’re not falling to the ground for no reason in their own box.
If there's a soccer header equivalent of being Mossed, then Messi just did it. He simply outjumped them.
You clearly have no idea of Messi is capable of. Go watch the highlights of the 2009 champions league final.
Glad to see Miami lose. No player should have direct access to tv money.
That's so bizarre. What did he expect was going to happen? They're attacking, they're not going to stop unless the injury was from a big clash over the ball. But some random guy on the edge of play?
he has heat stroke bruh his legs are limp. real issue is his team not playing on to get stoppage.
2:30 this is the moment a huge spider came out of the stands and ate the goalie
Jimmy, I enjoyed this one! Vamos United!
Soooo glad to see a breakdown on this. I kept seeing the guy on the ground in highlights and hadn’t realized what happened.
Guzan well within his rights to be in that referees ear, what a joke that there wasn’t even a yellow out of that. Only way I’d expect that would be if Mexico shoved Matt Turner into the net, and a CONCACAF ref would probably red card Turner.
that'd be peak concacaf
Guzan was lights out in the series, including 9 saves in game 3
Thanks Jimmy, I enjoyed this one! 😃
Jomboy 🤝 Soccer

For #6 for Miami to just decide to take a nap IN A PLAYOFF GAME, it makes me wonder if #6 bet on Atlanta. I'm not a soccer fan so I have no skin in the game, but this is patently absurd.
Imagine being the #1 seed, cheating, and STILL losing
Hey thanks Jimmy, I enjoyed this one.
Also, number 6 played a hell of a game for Miami up until that last play where he gave up
So glad the flopping loser cost his team the game, it’s the main reason why I don’t enjoy soccer/football.
ME TOO! I love soccer and won't watch it at the professional level because of flopping! The women don't flop, huh. Makes ya think.
*cost
He cost his team the game. Costed is only for specific financial cases like "The project was costed at $$$"
Jomboy 2/2. knew these were coming
@@skypangolin8576 my bad grammar police I’ll edit
Luis Suarez his teeth are offside, his teeth are offsiiiiiiiiddddee
Thanks Jimmy I enjoyed this one.
I really did. Calling Brad Guzan the guy from Barry, and watching Messi’s team think they deserve special treatment. It’s all glorious, what a video
MLS Cup is the 2nd best playoffs in the US after March Madness idc. Recency bias after that last day but you just had to be there it was insane.
I’ve been on this damn MLS emotional roller coaster for the better part of 20 years, and I could not agree more. It’s seemingly some variety of pandemonium every single year. Fantastically entertaining tournament.
Hey Jimmy, I enjoyed this one
#6 with something straight outta the school yard playbook. Kill other team’s momentum by faking an injury and having the game paused. So glad it didn’t pay off.
Joey Logano shouldn't be a champion
Thanks Jimmy, really enjoyed this one! Would love more soccer/football content when possible.
amazing playoff game - Guzman MVP
I never expected Inter-Miami to be what the league said they'd be but Atlanta is getting hot at the right time. Just sucks there's 2 weeks between rounds, makes for sluggish starts to matches.
Guzan...no m.
Loved the breakdown. Would love more soccer breakdowns. Or some English football breakdowns. The EFL (English Football League) has great content
It's ridiculous for Messi to grab the ball from the net because it's literally Atlanta's ball now. He's taking their own ball from them
It is not. As jomboy said, he did not want to give Atlanta the opportunity to kill time. He will bring the ball to midfiled so the game can proceed. Players of teams who need to score some more to win always do this.
@@uptoti81it was tied at that point
More MLS breakdowns please!!!! 🔥
Suarez (mid-life crisis blonde) has bitten numerous players on the field. Yes, you read that correctly.
you love to see it, kick rocks miami
thanks Jimmy, I enjoyed this one.. also, I live right next to the Orlando soccer stadium and I barely watch soccer so keep me posted if anything funny/cool happens. I know we're in the finals!
yeah ref messed up on the first play. defending team is meant to have rights to the restart but brad guzan (goo-zan) should have grabbed that ball and fallen on top of it (or maybe held on a little harder?). either way for both campana and suarez to escape without a yellow is a bit ridiculous.
mls have been doing their utmost to make sure messi & co get as much screen time (including changing the playoff format) so it's particularly satisfying to see em go out early to something like this
Hey Jim, enjoyed this one as usual
Love seeing goals scored when players are on the ground now. Up until a few years ago play would always be stopped by the ref even when a team had an advantage, so this was exploited ALOT. Now pretty much the only time the ref is obligated to stop is for a head injury. Stay on the ground at your own peril.
How is that allowed in the sport of soccer? Clown show😂😂😂
Absolutely should be a card. Total class from Messi and Suarez. Expect nothing less.
That Messi guy is pretty good. He might have a bright future playing soccer

Hey thanks Jimmy I enjoyed this one!
MLS is such a joke. Letting the league be a playground for retirees isn’t gonna do shit to grow the league.
Did the goalie do anything to deserve that? If not I'm so glad the pink shirts lost ......they might be scum bags of that was not provoked.
He didn't do anything. Messi taking the ball was to make sure the goalie didn't waste time getting it back to play which isn't so bad. There was literally no reason for the Goalie to get shoved though. They're scumbags.
He's a 40-year-old who has been US National keeper. Guzan is class through and through.
he owned suarez all game
"I'm just glad I'm not number 6." -Jomboy being all of us; or at least, all but one of us.
this is why I prefer hockey, none of this crap would fly
They would never hear the end of it, either in the locker room or from the fans themselves. But in soccer/football it's "strategy." Pathetic and embarrassing. So happy it failed miserably.
MLS tried to favor Messi by not carding anyone on the Guzan shove but they couldn’t stop ATL from winning it. pure perfection
Hey Jimmy I really enjoyed this one.
He doesn’t Messi around
Too me
Hey Jimmy. Thanks I enjoyed this one.
Except athletes in every other major sport also fake or exaggerate injuries, even flop, when it's strategically advantageous for them to do so.
Can someone who watched tell me what actually happened to #6?
Literally nothing. Miami has a habit of “simulating” injury to stop the other team from attacking. It’s just one of the things they do that MLS has turned a blind eye to. Atlanta wasn’t having any of it and neither was the official. He didn’t see any reason to stop play - and by the rule it’s the center referees discretion. Frankly, I think he let it go because he failed to enforce the shove on Guzan and felt it was fair play to let it ride while Miami was essentially down a man by their own devices.
seemed like he was holding his leg a bit, maybe a cramp? But they won't stop play for a cramp which is why he went down holding his head.
He was fine to play right after that goal.
