Doug, 2 weeks before covid hit, we got a bloke lined up to do EXACTLY this in our boy’s bedroom,he was gonna charge about 3k. Over two years later, no mezzanine, and a very disgruntled son. Today, we were sitting in his room and we got talking about it, and I thought, f this, you know, how difficult can it be to do this yourself? Your video is the exact answer, including the drop lighting. Wow. So, off I go, I’m going to do it.
Good for you! how did you manage Ray?
Good job
This is the best mezzanine I've ever seen.
He did this all alone! Respect!
Looks Great, Can't Wait to see your Next Project.
Beautiful work!!
Fantastic work well done
Thank bro!
I am so impressed you have done it all by yourself. you seem intelligent and handsome!
Woow beautiful
Why thank you 😉 .........oh.... you mean the mez...why thank you ☺️
awesome bro!
🤟Thank you!
whats the building regs on this in the uk? ceiling heights of the mezzanine upper and lower ??
Super Cool! How did you install the ceiling underneath?
plasterboard with screws then plaster over the top
Cool Man ❤️
Super nice iloveit ❤️❤️❤️
Buen trabajo colega ♡
I'm so impressed, great work. Do you have a estimate of the cost of building one of these?
Thanks bud! if you're looking to build one of a similar same size, materials would cost around £1200 including untreated timber, mdf for storage, plasterboard, plaster mix and osb3 board. maybe another £200 for the paint and carpet depends where you source it.
Additionally the staircase was £500 but I went for a really good one
Nice job, looks good. How high were your ceilings?
thanks, 3.1m

I really admire all kind of DIY stuff. Working on my bedroom. Industrial style. Been thinking of mezzanine or loft design too since it is a 120sq ft. One question sir, Did you mount those 4 thick pillars to the wall? I can see the mounting on the floor.
The pillars are not connected to the wall, in fact there was some gaps between the wall and pillars as walls tend not to be dead straight. It’s better to have the pillars flat against the floor than the wall as the weight could break the wall overtime. The gaps can be covered with plaster board before plastering over.
The horizontal beam on the right was screwed into the wooden frame of the stud wall. But I didn’t have to do this because as I added more weight to the mezzanine it was impossible to move anyway.
My dad kept telling me “it won’t want to move” haha
Check out my vid: how to build a freestanding mezzanine - for more detail
Oh yes. You are right. Totally forgot about the surface. Especially this old uneven wall like mine. LOL dad. I can imagine his face haha. Alright, noted. I think I will get smaller size for the beam and pillar. Thanks for your time man. Appreciate it. Keep up all the good work. 👍🏻👍🏻
