Rare Bird was one of the FINEST bands to come out of Britain’s Prog Rock movement in the late 60’s-early 70’s…Why they didn’t receive more recognition, I’ll never know…👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿

There are quite a lot of great bands in the UK, USA and all over that were worthy of greater fame. The Beatles created a tsunami of bands that produced the greatest music era ever. The mid 1960s to the mid 1970s. There was so much music and bands with excellent original music and only so much radio time. It was hard to get on the radio. We were so lucky to have so much great music.

Not only did the European broadcasters hold on to a lot of great recordings from this era, they also (unlike the BBC) allowed the bands to play live rather than miming or singing live over a prerecorded backing track.

    Your world is cold

Beautiful scarlet, someone's really gonna hurt you
The birds are all singing, but noone's gonna sing for you
Time was when, smiling faces all around
Beautiful scarlet, get your feet on the ground
Beautiful scarlet, there is a tear in your eye
The winter went slowly, but summer's gonna pass you by
I used to be happy, just following you around

Had the Rare Bird album with this song and Sympathy as part of the record. Always thought they were great. Singer, I believe, is one of best of the early 70's and has virtually been forgotten. Thank goodness RUclips is around to document this greatness. Drummer could give Mirch Mitchell a run and keyboardists mixing classical and rock vibes are just super. Outstanding song and performance. Van der Graaf Generator's studio albums give a good impression of what they were like live. (It was definitely that way round, in my opinion, rather than the live performances being a possibly strained attempt to recreate something conceived in a studio.) I saw them live many times, and it was always a thrill.
