A laundry detergent firm in China has come under fire for its racist commercial.
The advertisement, which quickly went viral after it was shared on social media, sparked heated debate as internet users slammed it for its racist overtone.

Where I’m from in the UK, women would paint their skin whiter to show their privilege.
For the same reasons in ancient China, wealthy people grew their fingernails out to the point their hands became unusable.

I currently live in the US, but back in Pakistan, the fairness creams advertisements showed that boys will not like the girl unless she applied the fairness creams. My Indian friend said that they have advertisements of similar nature.

Probably there was some sort of joke in this particular advert which I didn't notice, but the way I see it, is that the lady wasn't happy with the guy being black so she decided to clean him and have a lighter complexion guy. I'm not surprised to see such an advertisement though. You would all be very surprised once you got to see all the racist advertisements on Pakistani Television.
I know that in Asia light and fair skin is considered pretty. They do a lot to be pale. In my country it’s the other way around, everyone is pale and wants to have a nice tan. (Not to say my country isn’t racist asf btw, it is)

Why didn't they retain their own standards? I have no idea, maybe you should ask your elderly even though I bet they probably don't care about Europe and still hold their own definition of beauty, I feel like the people my age care about this the most because of phones and whatnot.
