Books in Filipino language are in formal form. .good for written form. Conversational form is usually informal.
Even the word order is different. Reading out loud won't be the same either, so it won't help a person trying to practice speaking.

Bilang ako ay isang Bicolano, ang masasabi ko ay mas maraming salita na Spanish sa aming lenguahe kumpara sa Tagalog. Ang bisaya at Bicolano ay halos magkahawig din ang ibang salita.

Maybe another collab with YT content creator 'Kuya Jake' from San Antonio Texas married to an Ilocana from Pangasinan. He is excellent in speaking Tagalog and Ilocano(including the accent)
In the Philippines way back in the 90s most Filipina who are either based in Visaya or Bicol are looking for foreigners coz lots of them came from poverty, very seldom someone from Manila , that’s the majority when I lived in Australia, US and here in UK or Europe in general. Right now it’s no longer a connotation but majority it applies. Great conversation indeed but I agree Driving and healthcare is a big problem in the Philippines.

Im brazilian and I have a pinoy boyfriend. Im trying to learn tagalog but the difficult part for me is that I have to learn everything in english because thats all I can find, even though phonetically Tagalog and portuguese is so much closer. So all my pronunciation questions sometimes dont make sense to someone that doesnt get what sound Im trying to make. So im just curious if because you speak spanish, would it be easir to learn it with you because spanish is closer to portuguese than english.

even before the age of 7 we're already learning English, most of our books are written in English
