Watching the replay while waiting for my carpet to dry. Over the summer I had a friend stay for 3 months. She asked what could she do to thank me for the stay. I said nothing, I was happy to have her. Well, during the time she was here I had commented that my carpets were in terrible shape and I wished I had a carpet cleaner/steamer to really get them clean. So that’s what she gifted me, a pretty generous gift I think. I had the carpets cleaned when I first bought the house, 15 years ago, and regularly vacuum, but you can’t beat the clean of one of those cleaner machines. I’m embarrassed to say how dirty the water was even after two rinses. So I’m sitting here waiting for the carpet to dry, which is exactly as interesting as watching paint dry or grass grow LOL! While I wait, I’m working on sewing 4,000 glass pearls (4mm) to a Tudor gown. I’ve been working on it on and off for weeks now but the carpets have forced me to sit and work on it right now. And I’m not opposed to that, I love hand sewing, it’s so relaxing. And I have to repeat this for the other side of the room. It’s not a big room but I can only do physical work a little at a time, otherwise my autoimmune disease objects, so I’ve only done half the room this morning. This is also ok, because if I try to do more I’ll pay for it for days, so I pace myself. Loving the spooky music in the background. Halloween is a big deal with children here in the US and over the years it’s now a big deal with adults too. As a child, we lived rural so my mom had to drive us around to people she knew to trick or treat. I always thought it was boring for several reasons. The people never seemed to be able to guess who we were, because we never saw them routinely, and then my mom would stand there and talk to the people for what felt like forever while we stood there bored and waiting. And by the time the evening was over we maybe went to 3-5 places. Then at school the next day the other kids would talk about how they walked around their neighborhoods together and collected bags full of candy. We also weren’t allowed to pick our costumes, my mom did that for us. So the whole thing kind of felt like a big chore and a let down. As an adult I have always enjoyed the Halloween parties because I love seeing what everyone else is wearing, people are so creative! Plus the party food is always fun and excellent, also creative to make food Halloween themed. So as a kid I didn’t like it, but as adult I love it. Your shawl is looking beautiful! As always you are appreciated. Thank you for your video!
Your friend sounds lovely, I am so happy for you that you are getting your carpets cleaned to your liking! These things can make such a difference to how comfortable we are in our own homes! Love your Halloween story too!

Happy Halloween to you too!
Here I am; on the day the US elected a new president and I *absolutely* needed some comfort and calm. And you deliver it so beautifully… ❤
