2 additional tips. I use a coffee or coke cup to add my water as to not add too much . And I use beaters from a food mixer in a drill to mix Much faster if your using 5 minute mud
Did not know it would set up faster in ice cold water! Last winter, our bag of 45 was setting up in 20. Thought it was a just a mislabeled bag! We use it for covering notches/holes/etc. after pulling cable in residential remodeling.
So just to clarify, if using to repair (re-tape) a drywall joint where the seam became visible, this Easy Sand would be used to pre-fill the gaps, and to set my joint tape? Then use an all-purpose joint compound to skim coat over?
Great video! When "hot mud" mixes with water, you have exothermic chemical reaction. Meaning the mixture gives off heat as the chemical reaction takes place.
Awesome video! Clear, concise, and thorough, I appreciate that! One thing I’m still not sure of is how you’re not supposed to “skim” with it but yet you can tape with it🤷🏻♂️ When taping with it, Is it ok to put your first good coat over your tape with ez sand ( after the first thin coat under and over the tape dries ) and then move to topping mud? I’m guessing they just don’t want you skimming walls with it?
You can - they make some plastic boxes that are used with hot mud. Just keep in mind you don't want to overfill it and then have to sand it a lot. It's a pretty hard mud
Hi Bella !!What mud all propose, plus 3, etc .....I can use on the first coat dry very fast for make the same day the second coat!! Thank you my master .. May the force be with you !! Or son tips for mix any mud with something else for dry very fast the 1 coat !!
Do you have a video on the different coats & explaining them all? 1st coat, 2nd coat, 3rd coat, etc.. how to do new drywall or new to old in that process..factory to old work butt joints? Or better to place new cut drywall butted to old cut work? What type at mudcan be used for different coats, when and why. Hot mud vs premix?
I do, I have some videos walking a job through from level 1 -5. I've also got a ton of videos on buildshownetwork.com. I don't have any with old to new because I do primarily new construction. Next time I'm on a remodel I will grab some video though.
Thank you. I'm a framing carpenter. Your videos have helped me tackle the drywall in my own home addition. These videos are invaluable.
thank you! That is great to hear!
About to use hot mud for the first time today. Thanks for this educational video!

Yeah during the winter if we have super cold water it'll set up really fast. Its frustrating and nice at the same time, haha!
That’s interesting . I knew hot water makes it set up super fast . Didn’t know about the cold cold water . Nice 👍
I skim my my whole house with this without any issue.

How it it both hard and easy to sand?
If i glue the tape with natural mud (with automatic taper) Can i make the top coat with hot mud?
Thanks you 😊

Thanks a lot !!
But there is therefore no risk of a bad reaction to covering a natural mud with a quick hot mud?
@@rudygibson3527 Nope! Just make sure you let everything dry before coating. And don't mix hot mud into any of the ready mix compounds.
@@DrywallShorty thanks you very very much from France ! 🤘
