Yuan Shu had no authority to grant such a position lol the exact same could be said for his promoting himself to Emperor of Zhong. Winners are Kings, Losers are Outlaws!
It's no wonder Yuan Shu became weary of Sun Jian. I always thought Yuan Shu was just being snobbish but honestly I can see why he begins undermining such a valued lieutenant as Sun Jian. Honestly if I had an underling with a reputation of using sneaky (if not outright dishonorable) ways to kill unsuspecting allies for some small transgression, I'd too would want to keep them on a tight leash.
@@fundur2816 that, but it could also mean that by staying on his good side, he would be essentially be blackmailed to support Sun Jian or suffer a similar fate as the previous guys. Not a good position either.
Hmm he could have handled the Nanyang administrator differently but i can't really fault Sun Jian for the deceit. His army is his responsibility and ensuring that they are well supplied and well fed is a commander's first duty to his men. Followed of course by not sending them to their deaths. So far we have two strike against Luo Guanzhong for stealing Sun Jian's feats and crediting them to Shu characters. Strike 3 will be fighting Lu Bu? or did that happen in the battle of Yangren?
Sun Jian: I, Sun Jian Wentai, the Tiger of Jiangdong, have defeated both Lu Bu and Hua Xiong! Hear me roar! Guan Yu: Nope, I did, I killed Hua Xiong and clashed with Lu Bu! Sun Jian: You bearded buffoon! Who said that nonsense?! Guan Yu: I dunno, ask the guy who wrote the story about our exploits and adventures in this era Little Sun Quan bore a lingering resentment towards Guan Yu for stealing his dad’s accomplishments and that triggered him to aid Cao Cao in the assault at Fan Castle
This is not a trivia at all, whole lore here are good precious lessons, live at chaotic period is hard, the confused officers are fell victims to the uncertainly like zhang
Hmm 🤔 so strange. I recall from d book 📚 he later joined forces w yuan shu against yuan shao n liu biao, but I guess 3 kingdoms is like King Arthur . So many versions of d same incident. Ok 👌 we’ll juz go w that.
Zu Mao in historical record: Managed to save Sun Jian and outsmart enemies and survived.
Zu Mao in Romance of Three Kingdoms: *SACRIFICE MUST BE MADE*
Jeez. Don't ever let this guy inside of your city.

Zhang Zi: You have no power here.
Sun Jian: YOU UNDERESTIMATE MY POWER!!! (Proceed to execute Zhang Zi)

My favourite sport's team - the Fighting Dong Zhuos
At the end of the day bigger army diplomacy wins most arguments.

Thought it was yuan shao who cut his supply
Nope Yuan Shao was miles away from the action north of the yellow river doing nothing this whole time
