Thinking about it I also have to wonder how shining a light behind the painting would do. If the light penetrates the canvas and paint well enough to cause it to glow. You could frame it with a rear light that turns on every so often through the night. You could also get fancy and have special effect like what you were doing to cause only certain areas (stars being my imagination) light up and twinkle and glow and fade. This is really getting my imagination going.
I completely agree...That was the coolest and most satisfying art video I have ever seen. The end made me smile in amazement like I was a kid again. I'm still smiling!! I must buy some of this paint. Thank you so much Joe.
I have the glow in the dark powders in the same colors that i mix with clear gesso. But was struggling to piece together a good way to combine them into a painting i started. Thank you for posting this and the end result looks amazing.
This is the coolest thing and entertaining I've ever seen in a long time in art. Congratulations.! You are not only a talented artists but also a good teacher.!
I was waiting so long for you to start painting with glow in the dark paint, please do more of this technique. Would be nice to learn how to do the universe on my ceiling as well *hidden, only visible at night*
Wow Joe that is cool I painted my grandsons bedroom with a space scene using glow in the dark paint after watching your videos and this video is giving me more idea's, You inspire so many people with your skills bud and thank you and enjoy your day
The end was really interesting. Some of those light effects like the glowing wave could be painted very similarly in a traditional painting with regular paints, by making most of the picture darker and having a few areas be bright and "glowing".
The awesomeness I've ever seen.. before the end when you added the cloud shading on that part I was just 😮😮😮😮it's freaking outstanding... Thank you for sharing this... So amazinggg...
Hi jo. Great experiment and fun. I think you could use a “fixative” spray on top is the color pencils. It prevent smudging. Anyway I’m learning a lot from your work. 🙏🏻
lol, my thought as well, but it ends up half a painting, so then I thought, ok a show with a bunch of amateurish paintings, and as everyone is complaining and just about to walk out... "Kill the lights."...😱 "Oh my gosh, Buckminster, darling. Would you look at that. Why isn't it just the most beautiful thing you have ever seen under a Georgia sky." lol
When you say colored pencil do you actually mean a pastel pencil? Usually colored pencils use wax or oil as a binder and aren't dusty at all. Do you think those would have stuck better on the surface of the paint? Also you could have used a fixative spray to get the dust to stick on the surface unless it would have somehow interfered with the paint, maybe you should test that. At any rate this is just brilliant work, I love the transformative effect of these paints.
That is utterly incredible, and the fact that you knew how to work with them, and it was such an amazing picture? Your talent is most certainly a gift from our Lord, your knowledge of light astounds me every time. Thank you! 🙏
I love it Joe! You amaze and inspire me as an artist. I'm a graphic designer and paint in my spare time, this is something I have to experiment with. You're awesome!
Man, it was a pain trying to find quality light-reactive paints a few months ago, so I made my own. But this turned out beautiful and impressive, so will I give a few colors a try.
Hi I use similar paint and I bought a party light black light bulb which i put in a lamp stand so i can paint in the dark and see what i am painting all the time. its much easier and thanks for your video Ive never thought of another medium other than acrylic over the top so now im going to investigate with alcohol markers! cheers
If you were putting that painting on display, you could have an array of UV lighting on an opposing wall shining on it, to bring those effects out. It’s brilliant. Is this a new form of painting art?
This was the coolest! And you playing with thee U.V. light at the end was just so fun and satisfying hahah
The possibilities doe
Your impression of the surface of the sea is wonderful! And what fun!!
Truly, the first interactive painting!! So Cool. I wish I could hit that like button a thousand times!

Love the result and the play with the UV-light. Specially the sound effects. 13:12 I do that too when I paint. It actually helps. ;-)
Omg! I’m imaging a gallery show with a bunch of white paintings! 😂🤣
lol, my thought as well, but it ends up half a painting, so then I thought, ok a show with a bunch of amateurish paintings, and as everyone is complaining and just about to walk out...
