Hey! I love the video and thanks for sharing so amazing brands! However, I would recommend doing some more research behind the founder of Pangaia, especially her racist, homophobic and transphobic past. @inspiroue on Instagram has a highlight and a video on yt talking all about the brand. All the love xx
Thank you for including masculine items!! It’s been hard to find small businesses that cater to “men’s” fashion, we want to be sustainable and conscious too!! ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
I told my family this week that I want them to donate to charity instead of giving gifts to me. Still have to decide which charities. As gifts, I will create vegan grocery baskets, because I've challenged them to do Veganuary. My mom is not that into it, so I asked her to just replace the cow milk and find a plant milk she's comfortable with. I am arriving there early, so I can hit the supermarkets. :-D Nonetheless, I enjoyed the gift guide, you are so excited, it's cute! Hope you are well.
That's such a cool idea! My dad and brother and meat eaters and my mom is not into the idea of eating plant based meat but she's switched over to oat milk! Little steps right?
This year I avoid supermarkets for presents shopping. I buy in the small local shops and if I do internet shopping it is for little french companies too. And we'll make a lot of homemade presents.
“Purple trackie bums”...bwah-ha-ha.. that is the one best ever!!! In all seriousness tho’... when we shop with sustainable and ethical small businesses our purchasing voice speaks volumes when it comes to products, materials, manufacturing processes, packaging, ethics, fair wages, safe working conditions, community initiatives, charitable giving, etc. It shows that we give a crap about humanity and the planet 🌍, which thankfully, we here in the comments section all do. Kudos to your Dad for his A+ modelling job... nice family effort here Immy 😃 Thank-you for this great video, and yes, I’m doing OK... I hope everybody else is too 💜
Aww Papa S-V did a great job at modelling! That shirt is lovely, it looks like it would be really soft. I will check Brothers We Stand out as I got my brother in our family secret santa this year!
I don't normally make personal comments, but honestly, I was thinking "how FABULOUS does her hair look today?" right from the start, so it was good to know that you've been using a product that you've recommended for us/as gifts and the results are obviously great. :-)

Your voice is always so soothing! Thanks so much for sharing such a great gift guide :)
Facetheory is a UK-based skincare brand that does serious, science-based yet affordable skincare in glass and aluminium, while also using minimal and biodegradable postal packaging. The brand is also vegan-friendly, cruelty-free, fragrance-free (or contains super minuscule quantities - always stated by percentage), and locally made in the UK with a 365-day return policy! No silicones either, if that happens to be an issue for you. There's perhaps some things that aren't perfect about the line. However, it's something they're continuously improving, and they have clearly outlined zero-waste as their goal. I've seen them drop so many non-zero waste options from their line over the years. The creams and cleansers are in beautiful and practical glass jars or aluminium tubes. The lipbalm is in a glass jar and contains no beeswax or petrolatums. The flannels and re-usable make-up remover pads are 100% organic cotton and packaged in minimal cardboard. The serums are in glass droppers, but these contain some plastic--both the screw top dropper and tiny seal in the bottle are plastic. However, they're easy to separate into different materials, so you can recycle the glass jar (needs to be coloured glass, unfortunately, to keep the active ingredients stable), compost the rubber dropper, and recycle or send plastic pieces to landfill. Alternatively, you should be able to sanitise and re-purpose the serum bottle. I'm sure the company is looking into their options for delivering still-effective, stable + well-preserved zero-waste serums. I'm going to be honest, along the lines of what Immy has said in previous videos, a lot of zero-waste and DIY skincare is not that effective and may sometimes even do more harm than good, especially if it contains a high concentration of essential oils or is not safely preserved or manufactured. It's not what anyone in this community likes to hear, given the usual line of thought is, "Skincare products contain ~bad chemicals~ and all these things you can't pronounce! Just use oils and avocados instead." When truly, independent formulators rarely create a product that could harm themselves or their family, and not everyone has a skin that can remain healthy and functionally balanced using oils alone (skin disease is really a cruddy thing to manage). But that's why I think brands like Facetheory and The Vegan Glow need celebration (Dirty Hippie also do some good products), regardless of any present 'imperfections' in their product lines. There are plenty of low-waste, sustainable options in skincare now, I promise, so please consider doing some research and get yourself some ingredients that work (recommendations: oils rich in linoleic acid, peptides, ceramides, vegan hyaluronic acid/s, AHAs, BHAs, PHAs, Vitamin A, Vitamin B3 (Niacinamide), Vitamin C, Vitamin E, liquorice extract for brightening and fading, coconut-based surfactants for cleansing, and UV filters). Also, safe preservation techniques are really important for zero-waste products, as we're dipping our fingers into the jars every day, and the product is also exposed to the elements every time we open the lid. (Gosh forbid we lose the lid!) Wash your hands before you use your products, or consider buying a metal spatula or using a metal spoon that you keep clean. ZERO-WASTE SUNSCREEN ADVICE: And always buy sunscreen from a brand with a proper laboratory that's SPF-testing and meeting certification standards. This can be really hard, so if you can't find anything that meets your zero-waste ideals and skin type, please just buy ANY sunscreen that you will genuinely wear any time you're going to be exposed to the sun (slap it on every day in summer!). Sunscreen is a medical issue; not a cosmetic issue, so it's one of the few areas where plastic can potentially be tolerated. Choosing not to use sunscreen can kill you. As an Australian, I am hyper-aware of sun safety, and a friend of mine in his 20s recently needed part of his lip removed because of melanoma. One brand that will meet a lot of needs is Zincredible. They offer broad-spectrum zinc-based sunscreen with high SPFs in zero-waste metal packaging (jars don't work because they expose the sunscreen to light). These products are also vegan-friendly and meet Australian sunscreen certification standards, which are the highest in the world. While not zero-waste, UK/EU-based sunscreen brand Altruist is doing a lot of good. This brand was created to make dermatologist-standard sunscreen available to everyone, regardless of budget (these are some of the cheapest and most effective sunscreens on the market), and a portion of every sale goes towards supporting albino children facing discrimination and sun-related health issues in African countries. In my opinion, proper zero-waste (or ethical) sunscreen makes for an awesome Christmas gift. And it's nice to think we can keep our loved ones safe in this small way during such vulnerable times. DIY SKINCARE ADVICE + IDEAS: If you do prefer pantry-based or DIY skincare, or like to make skincare gifts, here's a selection of things that are actually good and safe for skin: Rosehip oil 'serum' for the Vitamin A + C content. Sunflower seed oil or hemp seed oil cleanser/make-up remover. Glycerin and rosewater hydration spray. Oat bath bags containing lavender sprigs, etc, for soothing skin. Oats can also be used as the base for a gentle face or body scrub. Papaya and pumpkin exfoliating mask (mash it up, smear it on, prepare for smooth skin!). Homemade Vitamin C spray (see Labmuffin's recipe). Tea tree oil, appropriately diluted, for blemishes and other uses of its anti-microbial activity (can also be added into other combinations - just be careful). Clay masks for blemishes, blackheads, and congested or oily skin. Clay masks also provide a safe and gentle form of exfoliation. Whipped shea butter for dry body skin. Sugar scrub for dry body skin (also acceptable for face, as it melts as you scrub, but try other methods first!). Not vegan: hydrating, exfoliating, and acne-fighting honey + yoghurt mask (humectant + lactic acid). In general, citric acid is a good preservative! And here are the things not to DIY with this year: lemon (unstable pH), coconut and flax seed oil (comedogenic for facial skin), ground nuts and shells (cause micro-tearing to skin), used coffee grounds (okay for your body but not for your face), pure essential oils (be really careful about adding these to your skincare. If you do, use the least amount possible! They go a long way. Or save them for beautiful aromatherapy DIYs, craft projects, and household cleaning, etc).
This was so great! I love that you included a more menswear brand. Maybe in a future video could you let us know more sustainable brands like that or sustainable gender neutral brands? I'm pretty knew to sustainable fashion and find the research process overwhelming sometimes. Love your videos! 😁
This is so greaaaaaaaaaaat and I love that you and these companies have checked so thoroughly for greenwashing! Giving a gift or buying an item for home use and then realising you're not doing much good can be so demoralising. Closest I've gotten so far is saving ALL MY JARS AND YOGHURT CONTAINERS to turn into planters in the spring for some itty bitty spinach or saplings to gift people. I'm convinced I will paint them and start some seeds, maybe even overwinter something like a peach seed! My fiance is fed up, there is no place left to live.
First of all, thanks to your Dad for doing such a stellar job of modelling! I have done my best with Christmas sustainable and ethical shopping but I hope to do better next year. I am pretty good when it comes to wrapping as I love to keep it simple but make it special by adding tree decorations instead of those awful plastic bows. The parcel looks good and you get another decoration for the tree 👍 Next year I hope to go to local craft shows to buy them, the abomination that has been this year stuffed those plans. Thank you for another soothing video, I love how calm they make me feel. Take care xxx
Hi Linda, great idea you have with the simple wrapping a festive decoration... honestly, does anybody really like those fake-o plasticy bows? How is your reno coming along... have you warmed up to “Rock Pool” yet? I agree with you... it’s a little weird getting ready for Christmas this year. I have sewn a lot of gifts and am I excited to get them out to family and friends. I hope you are well... and done with painting walls and ceilings.
@@marycharlebois6627 Sounds like you are keeping busy! I have finally finished with the decorating, for this year anyway. Rock Pool does look good, I keep going in to the room to look at it. I then repainted the dining room in ‘Fawn’ which is a nice soft pinky beige (looks much nicer than it sounds). I then decided to finish off by repainting the kitchen ceiling to get rid of water marks from when our shower leaked. I purchased the correct stain sealer to cover the marks so it didn’t show through the new paint, followed the instructions and put up sheeting so it didn’t get on the counter tops (it came in an aerosol can so had the potential to get on everything). I stuck up the sheeting with ‘low tac’ tape and got spraying. It went great until I peeled the tape off of the walls along with great big bits of the paint 🤬🤬🤬 So I have now painted the kitchen as well ‘Macaroon Mint’, I only had one meltdown when it dried really patchy and had to have yet another coat. What started as a reasonable sized job just kept growing. I have plans to decorate another couple of rooms in the spring when the light is better, we are into the dull and wet bit of the English winter now and all enthusiasm has drifted away. I have to keep reminding myself how lucky I am to live in such a beautiful home and home maintenance is a big part of that. I hope you are keeping well out there in the wilds of Canada, I follow a couple called The Vanwives who live in Canada and I love seeing the beautiful country as they move around. Stay safe and warm L xxx
@@lindatait5326 Hey Linda, big applause for all your painting and reno efforts over the past few months. You inspire me. I’ve written down the Vanwives and will check out their channel when I have more time over the Christmas holidays... I wonder if they’ve toured around in my neck of the woods (it’s very beautiful). Stay warm and dry, and park the paint brush my friend.
Absolutely love this! You really suit the purple roll neck top! I was wondering if you have any good suggestions for sustainable brands purses as my ones just broken, it the zip which is already been replaced 2 times so don't want to try 3 time as it getting really tired xx
As you have people from different corners of the world, I'd suggest one of french companies. MAISON MARTIN is a small family company which produce hot sauces with a sustanable attitude. They are located at 15 km from Paris and ship all the Europe.
Thank you Emmy’s dad!! You were great 👍🏼 I have had horrible periods for a while now and I started taking fish oil a week before and the week of my period along with CBD oil and that has helped my cramps a lot! I hope maybe this will help a bet for you too. Painful periods are the worst 😢
Your videos has been so calming for my inner child this time of year. I really enjoy them and the way you encourage others and are non-judgemental ❤ sending you greetings and a merry christmas. "Masculine presenting" - you are just so so considerate. Love it! Also im in love with that purple rain lougewear set!
I got my brother at ethical coffee sub and mom homemade things off Etsy. About half of my Christmas gifts are sustainable the other half just conventional but at least I know they'll use them
really inspiring video! another brand I can reccommend is femitale. its from Austria and they produce period loungewear, such as sweatpants that can fit your warming bottle in them. really lovely girls and sustainable
You talk about such a variety of options and the hair conditioner sounds great (I struggle to find a good foamy one!) thanks for another lovely video 😊
okay i've just started watching and i know this doesn't have to do with the content but can i just say that lavender looks incredible on you?! looking forward to finishing the video! i've been loving your content so much and congrats on your amazing accomplishment of walking 75km!
This video came at the perfect time. I was going to buy conditioner the other night but I missed a sale so I am going to try the conditioner bar instead.
Hey Immy, nice new sweats (what we call them in Texas, lol)! Nice to switch things up from the Pepsi one every once in a while now, right? Also you have such a nice dad who is willing to model for you! That is just so kind of him. Thank you for your videos! ❤
painful cramps are often due to hormones, and you've changed your hormones - the pill works by inhibiting some that release your eggs, so it's good if you want to become pregnant later in life it's good, i never used it and was infertile early from losing eggs all the time
I got the one that isn't GPS so it always underestimates or undercalculates how far I've travelling in kms so I end up getting data that isn't accurate. This may not matter to most people but as I run and hike far I like to know precise distances! The step count is pretty accurate I think!
I bought myself some of those earrings by Tori is it?? off Instagram on your recommendation and they are lovely,.. Your Dad did a really good job.. thanks for stepping in Sir.
Love the video! I was actually searching for a good sustainable bag, because mine's zipper just broke. I will look into Grünbag, they look awesome! Thank you!
I purchased a backpack from Himalayan made recently and I'm so excited for it to arrive. Nice ethics and materials too from the information I could find. Another option if grunbag is not your style ^^
@@constancebouchaud9858 Thank you for the suggestion! In the end I decided to get one of Papero. Their heart seems to be at the right place and their bags are made out of extremely durable paper, that's so fun.
Thank you for this guide! So many great ideas! However, I am not so sure about Pangaia just because of its controversial founder. And in my opinion, they are a little overpriced.
Do you have any books to recommend apart from How Bad Are Bananas? I got it after you said - the new edition - and was very pleased with it! Because of course you have endless time to do pointless videos. My friend got that book The Madman's Library and opened it early "because i'm not a christian" best excuse ever lol and it is better than you heard, honestly. Plus it's not unwieldy like most coffee table books are. (It's all the weirdest books in the world you never heard of, eg not books books. Will suit any book fan.)
Emmy: Grab some tea, hot chocolate, mold wine or even Baileys Me: Munching on my leftover salad from lunch *damn* I'm doing well also me, 5 mins into the video: Now where did I put my chocolate?
Awesome video, thank you for taking the time to make it =) regarding your menstrual cycle, have ypu checked out the book Period Power by Maise Hill? Its super helpful, it helped me so much understand my personal cycle and how to minimise and in a lot of cases eradicate symptoms I was having at certain times =) it's science based but written incredibly accessibly. I hope my recommendation to you is helpful and shows my gratitude for your content and keeping me informed in your fun way on ethical stuff!!! Much love xo
It’s probably really good there are us certifications for that cbd oil (since it’s legal in many places there) as my understanding of the problem with buying cbd products in the uk is that there’s no official structures behind it yet as the legality is still a bit weird, so it’s hard to really know what you’re getting. Though is it legal to sell products with thc here?
Absolutely liviiiing for A. all these brands, B. the term tracky bums, C. your dad's modelling and D inclusive language around genderrrrr. Yes yes yes.
i'm going to buy myself a subscription to Private Eye satire magazine, because all i ever get is chocolate and i'm sick of it (I know, you're reading this and feeling sick of my complaining ha)
Hm, I thought this video was about tips on how to make meaningful gifts, but to me it seems more like advertisement. Sorry for being direct, I like the video, I just think the title is a bit misleading and should inform the viewer that this is a brand guide. I am sure they are great brands, I just mean that in my opinion a zero waste gift guide wouldn't include advertisement for completely new products. Also since these aren't entirely cheap or sustainable for someone on a budget. I hope this makes sense anyways. Thanks for your great content though, Immy!
This is why I made two guides and a 100 video with plenty of tips. If this isn't for you then perhaps the DIY holiday guide might be better. I did also mention that this was going to be a business guide at the beginning.
Great, valuable tips 👍 This gave me an idea... there might be a guide like that for my country too 😃 hello fellow subscribers from 🇸🇰 little help, please 😉🙏
inspiroue put out a video on brands she no longer supports and pangaia was one of them because the one of the owners is a russian billionaire socialite who recently had a racism and transphobia scandal... at the same time, the brand does really awesome stuff and is made up of WAYYY more people than just her. thoughts? wwd.com/fashion-news/fashion-scoops/fashion-figures-slam-miroslava-duma-for-offensive-comments-naomi-campbell-bryan-boy-marc-goehring11125986-11125986/
If I had done more extensive research and found this information I would not have included them in this guide. The company needs to look at what is more important to them, having this person and therefore their values imprinted on the brand, or stay true to their values and ethics. I don't know whether she is still an owner of the company but if she is that is an active choice by the brand to brush over her public remarks.

Fabulous video. Love how passionate you are about sustainable and ethical brands and priducts💕
Absolutely love this! You really suit the purple roll neck top! I was wondering if you have any good suggestions for sustainable brands purses as my ones just broken, it the zip which is already been replaced 2 times so don't want to try 3 time as it getting really tired xx
I bought myself a watch with your code! I greatly enjoy your channel! Happy Holidays!
Thank you so much for this guide! Also, can I say you’re glowing😍
As you have people from different corners of the world, I'd suggest one of french companies. MAISON MARTIN is a small family company which produce hot sauces with a sustanable attitude. They are located at 15 km from Paris and ship all the Europe.
So many fantastic ideas, thank you so much!
Immy this are super gift ideas. Your dad did a great job modeling.👍👍❤
Thank you Emmy’s dad!! You were great 👍🏼
I have had horrible periods for a while now and I started taking fish oil a week before and the week of my period along with CBD oil and that has helped my cramps a lot! I hope maybe this will help a bet for you too. Painful periods are the worst 😢
Always great tips and so relaxing to watch! Thank you :)
Love everything you’ve said... 100% agreed! Thank-you for this all-encompassing comment that is so graciously expressed 💜
@@marycharlebois6627 thank you sweet Mary ☺
19:18 That was so sweet. If I haven't been already, I am okay now for sure ☺️🌼
Omg so cool thank you for sharing!! Will def check them out xx
You talk about such a variety of options and the hair conditioner sounds great (I struggle to find a good foamy one!) thanks for another lovely video 😊
I love hearing about sustainable brands doing amazing things 😀
Your HAIR is on FIRE! I wish I had hair like you!
Merry Christmas
Beautiful Hair;) and also an amazing/relaxing video-thanks for the gift ideas!
Yoga has been LIFE CHANGING for helping with my period cramps, I do the Brett Larkin RUclips video for period cramps!
okay i've just started watching and i know this doesn't have to do with the content but can i just say that lavender looks incredible on you?! looking forward to finishing the video! i've been loving your content so much and congrats on your amazing accomplishment of walking 75km!
Thanks 😊 I'm going to check out the Brighton company, just down the road from me! Also your hair looks awesome by the way 💚
This video came at the perfect time.
painful cramps are often due to hormones, and you've changed your hormones - the pill works by inhibiting some that release your eggs, so it's good if you want to become pregnant later in life it's good, i never used it and was infertile early from losing eggs all the time
Good modelling there. Look at the corner, look at the corner and... cheeky glimpse to camera! 😁
I backed gomi's kickstarter too. The charger is brilliant xxx
As someone from the US, your “US... 🤷♀️“ was 100% accurate and valid. We’re a bit of a mess
The video is great, love the gift ideas!
The purple looks so good on you Immy!
Obsessed with your hair in your intros lately
What have you been doing with your hair!? It's so beautiful in all it's forms but I'd love to know what you've been doing lately!
love to here more about why the fit bit is not reliable! also as ever, love your content xxx
I got the one that isn't GPS so it always underestimates or undercalculates how far I've travelling in kms so I end up getting data that isn't accurate. This may not matter to most people but as I run and hike far I like to know precise distances! The step count is pretty accurate I think!
Love this purple loungewear set💜
Wonderful suggestions thank you.
Oh wow, such a good list of fantastic ideas!!
I bought myself some of those earrings by Tori is it?? off Instagram on your recommendation and they are lovely,.. Your Dad did a really good job.. thanks for stepping in Sir.
Ah!! She donates most of her profits so it's a great little business to invest in xx
I have never hit the like button as aggressively - two thumbs up (and a huge like) for your Dad!
Your hair has been looking so beautiful lately 😍
Loved the video and you look great! In the future it would be wonderful to have more international options please.
I think subscription ideas sounds good!
Great guide, thanks! :)
your hair looks so pretty!!
Thank you for this guide! So many great ideas! However, I am not so sure about Pangaia just because of its controversial founder. And in my opinion, they are a little overpriced.
Yes unfortunately I was only made aware of this afterwards, completely my fault for not having done a better job at researching.
Any tips for ethical, vegan and eco friendly makeup?
Yeih! Portuguese companies!!! Yes!
Love all of this! Totally wish you lived in Canada though! :P Then I could relate more!
Maybe one day!
Hey there fellow Canuck... love your comment... hope you are staying warm and healthy this winter.
Love your hair!!!!
Is there a time limit to use your NordGreen deal? I'd really like one for Christmas but can't order immediately!
Emmy: Grab some tea, hot chocolate, mold wine or even Baileys
Me: Munching on my leftover salad from lunch *damn* I'm doing well
also me, 5 mins into the video: Now where did I put my chocolate?
Like once for you, like a second time for your dad modeling!
Love your hair!
Vegan Korean beauty in the UK?? Thanks so much for highlighting them!
Thank you for being so inclusive of all male-presenting people! It is much appreciated :)
Yay Dad!!!
I love your voice😂😂
Your father is fit. Must say . Cool
❤❤❤
Are the wildlings true to size?
From what i've found yes!
@@SustainablyVegan ok thanks so much
The jewellery is all gold though.
Are these your sponsors? You didn't clarified this in the video (i think) so I am not sure.
Hello ♥️
ohhh miss your beautiful curls
Sustainable 😍😘
Youre gorgeous and I love you ❤️
Hm, I thought this video was about tips on how to make meaningful gifts, but to me it seems more like advertisement.
@@SustainablyVegan Thanks for pointing that out, Immy! I didn't realize that there was another guide :) I'll go and check that out!
Great, valuable tips 👍 This gave me an idea... there might be a guide like that for my country too 😃 hello fellow subscribers from 🇸🇰 little help, please 😉🙏
inspiroue put out a video on brands she no longer supports and pangaia was one of them because the one of the owners is a russian billionaire socialite who recently had a racism and transphobia scandal... at the same time, the brand does really awesome stuff and is made up of WAYYY more people than just her. thoughts?

If I had done more extensive research and found this information I would not have included them in this guide. The company needs to look at what is more important to them, having this person and therefore their values imprinted on the brand, or stay true to their values and ethics. I don't know whether she is still an owner of the company but if she is that is an active choice by the brand to brush over her public remarks.
