For each more video I watch of you I get more guilt that I havn't yet donated to you. The content you make and put out for free is just mindblowing. YOU made me pickup a guitar btw, stumpled upon your channel from somewhere, thought hey, this seems easy and fun. Now I am hooked and I really owe you for that. You kickass and have my utmost respect.
Peace be with you!!
Hole Hearted is just a terrific song. Thank you for doing it Justin!
i remember looking at this a year ago , having come back to this brilliant tune , i can now
play it after watching you and listening
Dude, you just blew my mind. I will play nothing but this song using this tutorial until I get it right! Best tutorial ever.
Hey, how have you been progressing? I just discovered this video, and now I am going to obsess over it until **I** get it right!
Best review of a tutorial ever. Rock on!
What a tutorial, I've just learned the (w)hole song in 30 minutes!
Thank you so much for sharing this and keep up the good work, sir! c:
I can't say enough great things about this guitar lesson. It's taken me awhile to get the hang of this song and it is a lot of fun to play. I played along with the record and I swear I hear the double pull off in the very first part of the main riff. Am I hearing things?
Oh man, seeing Justin play this makes me wanna go shopping for 12-strings at the pawn shops tomorrow and then learn this awesome song from him. Great teaching!
your the ultimate teacher man..i really enjoy your lessons..i actually sound like i know what im doing because of you..thanks very much !
8:12-8:20 I got that part mastered. Seriously, excellent lesson. Thank you!
hi Justin, you did a great performance with your 12 strings....Every day I follow you on your youtube channel in order to find a new issue, have a nice day
cannot die without learning to play "Hole Hearted" ...great lesson, thanks a lot!
this guitar sounds soo monster awesome ...
Great lesson, my favorite of any I have watched. This song has been a favorite of mine since it was released. Just another 500 years of practice and I'll master this!
Killed it! Forgot how great this song was until I watch this.
Hoo fa ! 😮
Gonna hafta buckle it down for this one 🤔
Great video 👍
Very helpful 👌
Thanks 😁
whole hearted is a great song ,I got it down in about 2 hours ,when I play it , it makes me smile ,and get all goofed out, it's dynamite!

Mate thannk's so much for the excellent lesson, I really thought i'd struggle with this one but you made it easy and now I can't stop playing it cheers buddy!
Hey Justin thats great! Thanks for introducing me to this song and the awesome lesson! Very powerful your playing.
Thanks a lot Justin for this version of a great song !
Brilliant lesson, as always. Is your guitar tuned slightly lower?
Awesome song! Played so well 👏🏼👏🏼
Super playing man!
Excellent lesson
workin hard behind that guitar! sounds awesome man
Wow, you nailed that just like Nuno! Great job mate. I love your lessons :-)
Just perfect, you're a great teacher !!!! A+++++
Wonderful song❤
Sounds awesome!
wow i want that guitar (and those guitar skills aswell)
i wish all tutorials are this detailed
hard song to nail, nice challenge!
You are the best 🙌🙌
Justin, your guitar tutorials are amazing. Can you do Fractured mirror by Ace Frehley.
Hi justin❤
I'M KOREAN,
SO I DIDN'T UNDERSTAND
ABOUT TUNING
YOU speaked "Eb" tuning,
Could you explain? Eb tuning
Only 6string, Eb tuning?
excellent playing, I admire)
Awesome!!!
Too bad it's hard to find a local Maton here in the US. I would actually love to buy a 12 string Maton Mini. I would be nervous to spend the money knowing it was being shipped from so far away.
BETTER BELIEVE IT BABY!
we need some jazzy songs justin
do a Q&A
The transition from G - C is the hardest part of this song!
In the chorus I mean, certainly in terms of timing.
Kevin Southam timing is the bitch in this song. skill wise, i can play it. timing wise i am a bit off and its driving me crazy. i can hear myself slip but am not in power to do anything about it.
back to practice again :(
12 string is badass...
👏👏👏🤘😎
It is recorded by Extreme on a 12 string.
thanks a lot. You save a lot of time with this video. Keep on Rocking
im confused you said to mute the strings but i hear you play all of them.
theres a bad chord in the chorus. The second time through the progression after the G climb up there's something kinda exotic there...the G does not support the vocals (there's a b flat in there over a G maj?). I thought it might be an E flat chord but that doesn't sound right either. Whose got it?
C7/9
I think Nuno had been listening to Give a little bit by Supertramp before writing this.
I can agree with you for the first two chords man but the rest of the riff in the song that nuno plays purely comes from his genius mind!
Federico___ there’s also the variations on A7, or rather Ab7 (can’t type the flat symbol) if tunes half a step down
Deff supertramp there
@@dumbman3015 given the disparagement between the styles you could look on it both ways ... converganc or plagiarism ... either way ...significantly different and yet both awesomegroovybiscuitsyesplzkthxbai
You might be right.. What we can say for sure is that both songs use many of the same chords!
Holy s*#% Justin! You are doing some next level stuff here, big time! I’ve decided to make a quantum leap in my neural-kinetics, and, I WILL NAIL THIS.
Respectfully in the extreme,
Hooch ( one of your monthly contributors)
how did you do?
Awesome player, teacher and guitar!
That Maton sounds angelic
Never wanted to own a 12 string or hear this song ever again... UNTIL NOW! :-)
Freaking well right dude!!
Heard this on the radio and thought, “I’ll bet I can do that!” RUclipsd it and so many great guitarists! I watched many, all good, but I’m in a Bluegrass band for 30 years! Then, from the back of my mind I remembered how great you synced with me on “Never going back again!” So, I came, I saw, and I conquered! I don’t think you know how much you😊are truly appreciated, Justin! Thank you, thank you, thank you so very, very much! I’m 71, and I’m sure we’ll never meet other than here-unless you come to Utah-but you’re welcome in my home, any time! Thanks, Mate!
This is awesome! I am actually starting to get this. I never thought I would ever be able to play a song like this, Now to get a 12 string. Thanks Justin.
Awesome! Always loved this tune. Nuno kicks ass
Great lesson and wicked playing! Thanks!
I learned this so much years ago in my Extreme III sides fever, and had forgotten most flavors by now. What a proper job you do. I recalled instantly this marvelous song.
I know this has been up for a while, but I just found it. Super helpful for those of us who have been a fan for so long and wanted to play this song.🙂
Justin you`re an absolute star matey. I could watch this all day.
One small correction: In the chorus ("there's a hole in my heart...") you played both times Cadd9, but actually the second time it's got to be a C9 chord (the "James Brown/funk" chord).
Very well done. You have a special gift. Thank you.
Justin you're purely awesome! This is THE BEST lesson of Hole Hearted on the internet. Really really appreciate your effort teaching us! Thanks a million!
Justin, I watched a lot of guitar lessons of various songs on RUclips, and this is the best lesson I have ever seen. Thanks for your explanation of this very complex song. It will take me weeks to get it down, but thanks to your help, I am on my way.
i just did a lesson about 12 string guitars on my main channel. Check it out :)
Long story....
I was a classically trained symphonic drummer straight out of high school and displaced 2nd chair perc in the Dallas symphonic. I hated all the tens of thousands of bars of rests I counted just to play a cymbal crash or triangle part. SO
I'd played behind a kit enough to bang shite on tempo. Got into a band in Dallas, moved to Austin for school and played a while. I saw the guitarist play this and Song for George in one sitting and was blown away. Both lessons you do, for each, are fantastic. My 19 year old self is giddy.
I am now in my late 40's learning guitar. I've got EJ's down, albeit slowly. This is my next.
Thank you for being an incredible pedagogue.
Thank you for being you.
Thank YOU mate.
I'm getting a 12 for Christmas. I will learn this one day. Give me two years.
Your two years is up.. Did you learn it??
Troy is right! How have you been with the song so far? I 've been playing and learning it too for a few months now. I really dig it, so tell us :)
2 years already.
3 years now. Should be good by now.
Malcolm we need to know!
This is dripping with cool. There's a little patch of earth underneath it where you could mine pure essence of awesomeness.
Beautiful tone and musicianship
Many Thanks my friend... Greetings from Perú
Justin, you are one legend!! you know that
One of Your Best . Great Song and Excellent Lesson . Many Thanks !
He is the only one who played like Nuno bettencourt and awesome lesson 😍✌️
Thanks very much.
Cheers 😊

Justin, you are a phenomenal teacher! This is a great song, and you broke it down so well. Thank you so much!
What an amazing composition by Nuno, thanks Justin as always!
This is the best lesson in a while in my opinion. This is the skill level I am at, where if I work on this for a while I can get it dialed down. More like this please!
At last! Been searching for a good lesson on this one for about a year now. And who finally comes through? Justin, of course, who else? Dude you are awesome, great lesson, and great sound.
Thank you for the video about hole hearted my favorite extreme song now I know how to sing and play guitar to this song
Just swung...swang...yeah you know....by to relearn this song in a break at a gig to fufill an audience request (specifically the Supertrampish pre chorus part). Why here? Because you have and always will be the guy I return to when I need to get it right. Thank you for so many years of awesome. And if it works out at the gig.... because she is kinda cute.... then it wont be the first or last time it was because of you. Thanks again brother. Much love.
*swinged
I wouldn't be able to stop myself o once I started! What a song!
Perfect, this is now going to be a brilliant addition to my acoustic repertoire now! Thanks mate :D
It’s January 23! Just heard this on the radio… needs to be learned 🎸
Thanks for the great lesson! Just one correction: when they sing "can't be filled with the things I do," the vocal harmonies are creating a C7 (or perhaps C9), not a C-add9. The 7b is in there, and it creates a different feel compared to the previous line of the song.
Year 2021 and these are still some of the best lessons on YT. Thank you.
Great work Justin. A great chance to dust off my 12-string that I haven't played in a long time. Just a oberservation, does anyone else hear a slightly different voicing on the second C
Just WOW…such a fun song to play and you break it down perfectly! Nicely done!🎸
I learned this about 10 years ago, then moved on to other stuff and forgot it. Thanks for getting me back on track Justin. Great lesson.
First?? ;) ha ha ha
Awesome! Thanks Justin. Happy Christmss!
I'd love to learn this. Got the first 3 chords down... :)
I bought a 12 string just to play this but then a found if the root notes in the right place u can jazz up any song with a 12 string
Excellent video! i just watched it and it looks very informative - can't wait to get home and try it on my guitar.
Great job, Justin! I love how you're able to make these songs approachable by a novice. Thanks for the vid! :)
Learning this song is my week's obsession! Thanks Justin, well done sir!
That is a great tutorial. You only missed out about the most interesting chord in the whole song: the C9 (dominant! Modal interchange!) at „And this hole in my heart Can't be FILLED with the things I do“ (bar 6 of the chorus) ;)
Great teacher, thanks my brother Justin...
bravo!!! what a sound!!
Fantastic tutorial for this great song!
Excellent. I always play that intro, then give up. I just bought a nice Yamaha (70's) 12 string. I'll work on this!!!
PLEASE READ FOR ADDITIONAL CHORD!
Hey there, great video and ive now learned the song after a couple weeks of trying. However, you are missing one tiny chord change that occurs at 2:41 (found here:ruclips.net/video/I-h4A7bF8wQ/видео.htmlm42s) of the original track (The repeated chorus). I learned the two additional chords and will share here:
At 2:41 of the track you play D chord as usual, but then the "a triad" shown at 14:54 of your video, then slide that a triad down two frets, then back to D.
Its a nice little fill in there and youll be happy to learn that part after learning the rest. Cheers
