Awesome job Steve. I just discovered you and your teachings about 2 weeks ago and I have been playing for almost 30 years and I am self taught but I have learned so much from your instructional videos. You are freaking awesome! You deserve a thousand times more views than you have
You are a great teacher!
Perfeito😊
Thanks so much! I was trying to learn that song by hearing but I wasn't sure about a few chords. I could take most of "Rest in Peace" but this one was more tricky. Thank you a lot. You're teaches really well in a clear way. Keep up with the good job!
What about the lick after you hit the d cord
You are good instructor. You speak clearly and explain things precisely in a way that the average guitar player can understand. Not sure why I am learning Extreme songs, but you make it pretty easy.
Steve, I just want to say how much I enjoy your style of teaching. It just works for me. As an older guitar play who has spent a lot of time in plateaus, listening and learning from you has helped me break out them. A sincere, heartfelt Thank you.
That's awesome, Jerry! Thank YOU for watching, and thanks for all the kind words. :-)

That hammer on section at the beginning of the main riff is very similar to the beginning of Stranglehold by Ted Nugent and Hell Bent for Leather by Judas Priest, and also incorporates Funk #49 by James Gang. It's a nice amalgamation of the three.
I hate ovation guitar's this just started playing and it was that instant choked gutair tone. They sound like a brick of plastic to me. Love you thought Steve! You're AWESOME!
Holy Jesus. Was thinking about taking up guitar. And love this song. Saxophone/Flute player. What a nightmare. Wanted to learn this song on guitar. You lost me at hammering. Haha. Leave it to the pros or get a lesson!
Thank you Steve, always wanted to learn how to play this song......
please
taught us midnight express by nuno bettencourt
I don't speak English, but it wasn't necessary either. Thanks for such a great class!
Awesome lesson Steve thank you very much. Great tone from your guitar too
Great tutorial ! Cheers for your work in putting this together.
i like so much your lesson, but, may be you traduct to spanish please....
The simultaneous multiple camera angles really help. Thanks for taking the time to put this together
thanks for this. the d chord movement is not hard to play but has nice sophisticated sound
I don't play any instruments but noticed you seem to have a very good instruction technique. It seems 'extremely' (get it?) easy to follow.
Best explanation of this tune. Nice!
Nice. What kind of strings do you use?
Awesome playing , awesome lesson, awesome ovation guitar!! Thanks a bunch !! One of my favorite songs that I used to jam out and have drinks w my mom who I lost 11 years ago. Thanks for showing me how to play it correctly!! Means a lot !! ❤
Ovation...WHY??? UGH!! I'd rather play a First Act! ;-) Good instruction, though. Nuno stole that lick from Joe Walsh, James Gang, 'Walk Away'.
request Zeppelin traveling river side blues
Thank you so so much!!!+
Sorry to be a bit offtopic, but could you PLEASE tell us which guitar is it exactly? Cause it's f***ing sexy, you keep explaining and I keep staring. Nicely explained, too :-)
Dude thats an awesome guitar. Love the headstock.
finally a real tutorial! good job!
I think this might be a little too difficult for me at the moment, only been playing a year.
Thanks for watching, Andrew! And thanks for sharing your progress! :-)

very concise; If I ever start to learn guitar I'm coming to your channel :-)
Excellent tutorial
Best "how to" which I saw. Thanks a lot
Totally groovy dude
Even for someone who has been playing guitar for a long time, this way of instructing is the best. In my opinion, no matter how good you are, it never hurts to come back to the basics. Of course, there is a point where things go automatic, and you don't really need to hear explanations of basic techniques. In that case, you can probably manage with some guitar tabs.
👐
It's cover
Very good!!
5:12
great lesson. but i believe it will be better if you more focus on the note (left hand) and lesser verbal explanation
Great video, been looking for this song, I have figured out the first part, but needed the rest of the song......still not up to the level of the song here, but well on my way...thanks!
Nice lesson.
This was very helpful, you are the best teacher for guitar I've seen on RUclips so far! Thank you!

oké the first part i can . but after that its getting like out of reach for me. practice is the key word right
Can you teach love of my life extreme (bettencourt) cover on the queen tribute? Cheers man!
The most important things in this song are a confident "funk rhythm", and "pull-offs". The 7-5-0 pull off is Extremely important to nail...you gotta Hear Every note in that Pull-off, or it just Doesn't sound right. For the strumming, you don't gotta be perfect, but you GOTTA be confident in your strumming and Really sell it hard....or it just won't sound good. Emotion is key! That's why it's hard to find a good Cover for this song...you can't go threw the grind...you go hard, or go home.
thanks steve ,you are the best for a true beginner. for anyone looking for lessons look no further.
I wish you were my instructor
What impresses me most is how you can carry on a complete conversation while playing and not miss a note.
Steve could you do a lesson on Joe Satriani's "Circles" please!
Merci Steve muchas gracias! You're a good guitar teacher
ty dude finally a 6 strings and e tuning lesson :)
Best guitar teacher on RUclips - hands down.
He didn't steal no lick from anyone dude
For those about to rock, we salute you! - And you rock! ;)
Excellent excellent instruction. Very compelling lesson, easy to follow.
Steve, are you saying that groove is in the heart?
Very good lesson! thanks a lot Steve.
Great video thanks
My pleasure. Glad you enjoyed it and thanks so much for commenting!
Absolutely superb, thanks Steve!
Steve: Do you ever amaze yourself?
Nicely done, sir.
Bastards got my guitar :P
I thought he drop D
You may be right, Rossell, but I am really not sure. Steve doesn't mention drop D at the beginning, but he does say the guitar is tuned down 1/2 step in the original recording (low to high): Eb Ab Db Gb Bb Eb
Steve's version is in standard tuning (E A D G B E), so you won't have to tune down to follow the lesson. You will have to tune down to play with the original recording, though. :-)

Thanks a lot!
Perfect... You is a great man.
I think you are a great teacher!
...... OW!
First time I've seen any of your vids and I can tell you are a FANTASTIC teacher.
Thanks, Brent!
excellent teacher, truly fantastic!
Great Lesson , you are the Man !!
It's an Ovation
You look pretty good
Good lesson but you over-analyze the minor details too much and reiterate too much
That's called learning, it's how REAL guitar instructors teach....if you skip over the details, you're just another "average" player that goes nowhere.
thanks a lot
freaking agree!
A+! Steve ;-)
Thank you!
Wrong wrong wrong tone is bad
Should I subscribe to you so I can see how this is really done when you get your lesson up? Just wondering?
@@strivingx67 haha good.one
In the beginning groovy part, there are actual pull off notes that you're missing pretty bad.. They need to have a little bit more annunciation. Also it goes from an open G on the first hammer on to an open D in the second, not another G..
Music is about, feeling good, having fun...you don't have to copy everything 1 : 1 that is boring. Most important thing - it has to sound good - and it does! Maybe you should call the Whambulance or do it better! It is a way too poor to critize a very good lesson, which is offered for free...
I wholeheartedly agree about the feel of the song being the most important part, but you are slurring an important ingredient in that choppiness of the hammer-on section. To me, it loses the feel of the song when you do that. Just trying to give you a little bit of constructive criticism. I can play that part just fine, but I don't make RUclips videos for a living so I'm sorry.. I can't help you out with that.
I feel like if you want to market reputable tutorials, you should be able to not only play the part like it is originally played, you should also be able to take a little bit of constructive criticism.. That's all.
its better on Eb flat tuning, but thanx bro
youre awesome
