  • We have a few hundred miles on these newly released tires so far - and so far so good!
We have several tires that we have been impressed with, including the Maxxis Roxxzilla, but we’re excited to get our hands on something new to try.
So far, they are very comparable to the Maxxis in specs. The rubber compound is a little harder. The Obor tire is NOT a directional tire, so you can rotate it.

Hey guys love your channel and content. Can’t wait till warmer weather here in Utah so you can post more videos. I have a question about tires. I want a tire that is a good all around tire for the terrain in Utah. I ride everything from roads to trails to a little on rocks. I love the look of the Roc Monsters and Zillas. Which one do you recommend for a turbo R4 for overall performance and longevity. Or is there a different one all together you would recommend?

I thought DUROMETER was a word everyone knew in the rock crawling world. It’s getting more obvious all he time, who is the most knowledgeable in this group, (cough cough Royce)
A Zilla is in the very low 40s, most tires are in the 60s. My Quadboss 808s are 48, sticker than many advertised expensive “sticky’s” DOT approved wear much better than a zilla and you can buy them almost 2 to 1 zilla. They have also got better with use and seem to have a great side wall. Unfortunately they only make them up to 32”. They still are not as good as a zilla but in our personal testing they out perform everything we’ve tried but a zilla.
I’m glad to see the zilla getting some competition. They are all way to expensive IMO. I looked into these tires after seeing that you gave them a mention previously. Unfortunately for me they don’t come in a 14” wheel. I can get a zilla in a 32-14.

Lots of good tire options out there, and for most people, a dedicated “sticky” probably isn’t best for their riding type.
We haven’t tried to quadboss yet, but they sound interesting!
      Thanks for chiming in.

Yea I think on the type of terrain they ride on the nittos would probably be king. There weak point for us in the midwest is dirt and mud.

Hey Kirt, we ran them on a Teryx for a while and they did fine. Probably not one of our “favorite” options for sand hollow, but a good all-around option for the price!

I like the Maxxis. I am looking for a good all-around tire. I live in Las Vegas, so we ride desert into sand and rocks. I ran the BFG 32 on my old RZR. But not I have the PRO R. So im looking for a great all-around tire.

    • @OffCamberInd

Honestly neither would be the best option for “all-around”. The Sedona Trail Saw and the Obor Predator are 2 of our favorite all-around options

@@OffCamberInd are you guy liking the Obar Roc monsters so far?? I just ordered a set watching your guys videos. They seem to hook pretty good. I know the Zillas are really good tire. But the Obars seem like they would be a better all around tire for some mud, rock faces, and lose gravel climbs. Plus Zillas seem to lack a little side ways lateral grip. I live in south west Missouri. So I have a big variety of terrain. I’m a stone throw away from Arkansas and Oklahoma border. I went to Moab this last Spring. Loved it out there.

Zillas are best after 2000 miles or so and we can’t really compare apples to apples yet since we only have 400ish miles so far on the Monsters. All we can say is they are very similar

I got friends if you can believe that LoL that run 32” Rockzillas and My 33” System3 XT 300 tower over them. There are 6 people in our group that run the 32” Rockzillas and they measured out at 30” tall with 8 psi and off the Unit. My System3 at 8 psi measured right at 33” off the unit as well. I can understand some if their 32” tires came in at 31.5” but 30” is ridiculous. I had the same results with the Rockzillas 35” they measured 33.5” at 8 psi and that tire runs $450. I payed $180 for my System3. Yeah I’ll never run Rockzillas unless they drop the price dramatically and correct their measurements.

    • @OffCamberInd
      @OffCamberInd  Год назад +1

Yeah, they’re known for running a little small, especially if it’s a 32x14. Great tires though. We like system 3 as well

What kind of terrain do you run those 300s at? They absolutely suck in my neck of the woods. They don’t even come close to having the same grip as Roxzillas in my area. They look cool but that’s about it.

@@markball7028 Loose Rock,Slick Rock,Mud,Gravel, Pavement, Sand, loose leafy dirt if that makes sense. The Rockzillas out perform the XT 300s in slick rock hands down by far, but everywhere else there is no comparison. One of the guys in our group has a CanAm with 32”Rockzillas. The Talon and CanAm have the same bolt pattern. We swapped for the day at Cross Bar in Davis Oklahoma. His worlds were holy shittt these things grip. His only complaint was the same as mine. Slick rock. There is a spot called Rock Face. When it is dry both tires can stop on it and then go. When the rock is wet neither tire can stop without sliding. The Rockzillas slide less. The Rockzillas can go up the wet slick rock slower then the 300s, but they both make it. Oh yeah the Rockzillas also ride much smoother. So the majority of the people in my group say they will gladly sacrifice grip for a smoother ride. Me I can’t choose a tire that is only better in slick rock over another tire that out performs it in mud, sand, loose gravel, leafy dirt and then pay twice as much for it. I payed $200 each for my 33” XT 300s. They payed $400 each for their 32” Rockzillas. I would not consider the XT 300 to be a MOAB type tire. Thats only my opinion because there is so much slick rock in MOAB.

    • @markball7028

@@stgraves260 going to have to disagree with you. Guy with a XP1000 in our group runs a set of XT 300s. He can not keep up with us on rock faces dry or wet. He simply lacks traction. They do better in mud and lose gravel climbs than the zillas. We was at Disney just this past weekend. No comparison. He could not do the climbs we was just walking up with ease. He was having to give it hell on stuff we was just cruised up with zero wheel spin. Ive been to Moab and Sand Hollow a few times. Not seen a single set of 300s on any rig we ran into. All zillas, nittos, or that new tire Obar roc monsters seem to be gaining some popularity.

The Shore durometer is a device for measuring the hardness of a material, typically of polymers.[1]
Higher numbers on the scale indicate a greater resistance to indentation and thus harder materials. Lower numbers indicate less resistance and softer materials.
The term is also used to describe a material's rating on the scale, as in an object having a "'Shore durometer' of 90."
The scale was defined by Albert Ferdinand Shore, who developed a suitable device to measure hardness in the 1920s. It was neither the first hardness tester nor the first to be called a durometer (ISV duro- and -meter; attested since the 19th century), but today that name usually refers to Shore hardness; other devices use other measures, which return corresponding results, such as for Rockwell hardness.

They are a flat top tire, so they don’t turn on hard pack as aggressively as a round top desert tire, but they do fine. In sand they are good - not a paddle tire - but good
