I remember his outtakes on that level. It wouldn't be so frustrating if you weren't restricted to a shotgun and chaingun for pretty much 75% of the entire map!

This is one of my main gripes about playing DOOM. Sometimes the blood floor hurts, sometimes it's ok, sometimes the green floor is ok, but usually not. It's always just a guess if its not standard DOOM 1 or 2 to me.
Some of the substances could simply be dirty instead of toxic or corrosive. Maybe that was holy water and Doom guy is vulnerable to it after spending time in hell.

Water that hurts with no warning like "Poison" or "Radiation" is plain fucking retarded. At least later maps make it clear when the blood and nukage are harmful and when they're not.

Dat autoaim with the rockets though, every freaking time. So many deaths that could've been avoided weren't it for Doom's aggressive auto-aim -_-

Freelook and a tiny crosshair. For better or worse (I tend to struggle on slaughtermaps because I can't see where I'm going while strafe-firing), it's what I have the most fun with.

Given the layout and textures of that courtyard area I feel like the fountain hurting you could be a reference to The Way of the Gun, but this map predates it by four years so I guess unless the director was a big Doom fan it's just coincidence...
In Shadowgate, there's a fountain that, instead of water, spews acid for some reason. (Even though it LOOKS like water.)
Maybe it's the same deal here?

Thanks for playing with fast monsters, btw. After playing with fast monsters, it feels like I can never go back to playing without them. It's also become hard to watch playthroughs where people don't play with it turned on.

I find map 8 to be one of the most memorable maps myself, i love that map,.its especially memorable due to the chaingunner trap, simple to deal with with plasma but people always remember it.
It took me half an hour to beat that sodding ring room. I swear beating Go 2 It was less stressful!
Over the years I've developed a million little combat strategies just to survive pistol starting some of these maps on UV - it's inspiring to see Decino just throw himself into them and thrive. Damn! You are a real master of doom!

Map 6 is one of the hardest in the entire game IMO. I struggled with it pretty hard my first time through.
BTW, awesome work so far!
This must be one of the most effortless looking Plutonia playthroughs ever. Of coz Plutonia isn't the most difficult set in the world in general, just one of the more dic.. fiendish ones, but not dying on many of these levels with these settings is impressive af. And if health is low, you just not accept damage! Easy peasy!
I had a lot of trouble in the Baron's Lair when I played this!
I very much remember that level.
Decino you did a lot of cool tricks in the map Onslaught here. I was just playing this map and I died many many times! Holy cow. You did very clever thing in this playthrough here like escaping the final corridor of hell knights/barons which of course entrapped me and I died there once in that trap near the very end. Also backing up when the 8 shotgunners at the end appear. They almost murdered me right there before the end of the map. Oh, somehow skipping the chaingunner trigger mid-way through the map. I think I died and tried this map over 20 times lol and it never happened. They always appeared for me and it causes a lot of chaos in the map.
You ran straight past all the madness of monsters appearing once you first enter the blue key door, by simply bypassing all of that area and jumping down into the sewers. I found this was also my best method after playing the map a few times. Fighting all the monsters before that part is much more challenging but they can just be skipped and let them infight while you are down in the sewers. So far this was by far the hardest Plutonia map I did, but I'm only 1/3rd through the WAD. It's basically a blind playthrough for me since it has been over a decade since I last played this. Literally every trap gets me haha. I don't remember them coming. What a brutal map pack this Plutonia is! And I am forcing myself to do it pistol start and no saves. Masterful challenge. Watching you play these maps is amazing. I do wonder how many times you died trying Onslaught :o

14:05 If you run for the key, kill the chaingunner in front of you and immediately get on the teleporter the chaingunners will just teleport to the other pad and you can kill them one by one without problem. It works from either side.

Realm is actually a very memorable map to me because I think it's the first truly difficult one in Plutonia. Others had some hard parts, but they're not as crazy to me. Btw, first time I've played it, I had a similar experience - almost zero health, praying not to die to that damaging floor. I died. But yeah, this one and Abattoire are my favorites from first 10. Those endings...
Meat eater: I had steak and eggs for breakfast.
Vegan: I had a fruit bowl for breakfast.
decino: I had rockets for breakfast.
Edit: And no, I'm not vegan so I guessed what kind of thing a vegan might have.
I'd say a fruit bowl is a reasonable guess. That or jam on toast.
I've never understood plutonia's overuse of those floating skull rocks.
Realm is crazy hard if you get sloppy or are on a pistol start because of the total lack of armor. The lack of protection of even green security armor makes a huge difference.

I've always played UV with fast monsters myself, but I play really cautiously. Not nearly as fun as watching you take on hoards of chaingunners with single-digit health...
I know I've said this before, but seriously - go try some descent!
Oh, this game... I love it and I hate it in a same time. Recently I played it again under the Mod we all know, v21 rc8. Got a railgun and nice cache of cells before Hunted. And Hell, when I shoot all these archies in a first room through the wall, I felt such a pleasure, that I don't know how to describe it without getting embarraced. It should be illegal to feel such a joy.
Realm is very notorious for its lack of armor, being near impossible on Nightmare difficulty w/o the glide and very lethal traps.

Fast monsters is one thing, but can you imagine the nightmare of fast monsters + permanent partial invisibility? :p

Engaging the Baron before the Arch Vile on map 7 was unexpected

@@decino Interesting how you hugged the wall to reduce the flameboi's damage. I've heard of that but I've never seen it used.
Oh, and that Arch-vile in Onslaught could target you because to the game engine, that crawlspace you were shooting his legs through counts as open, non-sight-obstructing space. And it's all the Vile needs to draw a bead on a target.

14:10-18:55 is a great example of why recharging health in shooters is a bad idea.
You can tell when the damaging floor will hurt you based on the weapon sway I believe.
Realm looks like a Heretic map. Like, I can't remember which one, but there is definitely a map in Heretic that has that part with the white stone walls and blue water.

the famous map 8 and his exit.All good doom wad in a nutshell (HR takes the supershotgun VS baron too,but with 20 barons instead). The map 07 this is kinda dead simple,but we included revenant commando and an arch vile because plutonia reason.The map 09 also call watch out for pit (and quab symbol visible on the map in the blue key room. And map 10 which I was SURE you ll do without the glitch (I would have been very disappointed if you choose the easy way for a time)
Why are you always playing in GOD-mode? I mean, I know you don't cheat, but you must be some kind of god.

Difficulty is something I want to see more in Doom wads, It makes them more satisfying to complete and makes the experience last longer, casing point, Plutonia.

if you want difficulty, do scythe 1 and 2 on UV, you will go insane on 26 of sycthe, and even earlier on scythe 2
I remember MAP23 of scythe 2 being packed to the brim with enemies, I should probably give that map another go.
Rockets are a good source of iron. Add an explosive side to any main dish with UAC Rocket-Os!

The worst part about uv-fast of doom2 is that all new monsters' projectiles are not fast, unlike imps' and barons'.
Well, mancubus fireballs are already fast. Hell knight fireballs are affected, but shares the same attack as the baron so it's expected. Fast revenant missiles would be hell.
@@decino Fair enough, but we are in the hell already, so revenant missiles might be fast as well, it wouldn't hurt much. ;)
