Same here. I love my 435i 6WA gauge cluster. Just the right amount of digital and analogue. Justin is right in saying the race wheel is a better alternative to spruce up the interior.
In my opinion, digital gauges aren't worth it unless they offer a map display, not just turn by turn directions. But even if maps aren't an option, I would still always want a digital cluster over not having one. I think Volkswagen Group probably make digital clusters with the best feature set.
Question, I know that you added the three way optical cable, however you never posted exactly what or how to code from the small idrive screen 😢. Was looking to get this mod but could never find a how to with the smaller screen.
Hey Justin, just want to say I am so glad I've come across your channel, the story telling, the filmmaking, the content and of course your beautiful cars and mods are just top notch and unparalleled. Really love your content and keep doing your thing! Also, now I really want a 340i so hopefully that will be my next car!
I have to completely agree with your summary of the 6WB. I upgraded my F30 335D with this option and dont regret it at all, it does, as you said, update the car somewhat and there is a coding option to permanantly have the current gear diaplayed in all modes. For me a worthy upgrade which I had done along with the larger 10.25" touch central media screen.
My F32 came with the 6WB stock, it is really nice and I've never had a issue over the years. My car specifically is from Canada and it shows both mph and kmh at the same time. Interesting to see that the oil temp gauge and fuel indicators were analog! I never noticed that lol
From experience driving F30 with analogs and projection on windshield and then switching over to G20 with only digital gauges - I'd say both those options are good in terms of looking nice (especially with analog going a bit extinct in models right now) and not distracting from the driving, but allowing quickly check the speed. But I'm never going back to analog only gauges, that's for sure.
I’ve had both. But I also had HUD in all my cars which means I never look at the gauges. For aesthetics, the blended digital gauges within analogue rings looks the best to me but it’s not a deal breaker.
I have an Audi that came with the Virtual Cockpit, your experience seems very similar to mine. The most useful feature is having a large digital speed readout, which is especially nice with how easy it is to go a little too fast in these cars. The Audi system has more functionality for the center screen, but I end up leaving it on the simplest setting (clock) because the other modes are too cluttered and aren’t that useful for daily driving. Theoretically it can display traffic signs such as the speed limit (if you pay for a subscription), but I agree that it would be nice if I could have numerical readouts for oil/coolant temperatures instead.
It's not about the hype. I often drive from UK to continental Europe, meaning switching between miles and kilometers. The analog dash sucks for both miles and kilometers, so digital dash is basically a must have in this situation.
i bought the 6wb for my 340i and eventhough I like it, it's even worse for 6MT cars, the right screen gear display in Sport mode doesnt work, so now you have a huge blank space as well. If I had to do it all over again, I'd retrofit a F80 gauge cluster which I didn't know was possible at the time. The F80 HUD is a huge upgrade over the F30 HUD.
6wb is much more comfortable in a sunny day, white digits and needles are much better to read than 6wa gauges or basic cluster. But 6wb is very overpriced(( I have it on my previous F30. Yes, its modern and beautiful, but not worth a requsted price. Better to install instrument cluster from the M3, especially if u have a HUD, the HUD will have the M3 animation with RPMs and speed, and its cheaper than 6wb in 3 times)
Hi @Justin I want also switch from standart analog cluster but unfortunately my head unit system doesen't have an OPTIC FIBER outpout/input. Is there anything what I can do here or I need to swtich NBT EVO? I have BMW F36 05/2017. Thank you.
i think 6wa is the soft spot. if my car had 6wa i wouldnt switch it to 6wb. i think bmw didnt use the big screen layout to its full potential. Audi's interface design is better for completely digital gauge cluster but i also think complete digital gauges is more of a "audi thing" than "bmw thing". i think bmw's designs should be more towards driving pleasure than being high tech and self driving-y
This. I thought changing to 6WB would be one of the first things I'd do, but to be fair the more time goes the more I actually like 6WA. 6WB might be cooler in some aspects, but def not worth paying a fortune for.
I love nicely done analogue gauges. I mean look at Paganis! Okay, most mortals can't afford those, but, they are a work of art. Also, digital gauges age - fast
I think your comments on the 6WB are spot on. My 6 speed manual 2018 340i came with it from the factory and while I think it offers some slight customization compared to the standard analog gauges, I could definitely live without it. I will say though for 6 speed owners such as myself, the only cool feature is the shift light in the sport mode display. Our cars are so quiet in the cabin sometimes its hard to hear when I need to shift and the rising shift lights really help let me know when to grab the next gear.
I just love the analog dials, I think it is one of those features I miss dearly in newer models. However this retrofit was done tastefully, and seemed nicer to look at. As an E60 owner I am seeing a lot of e60 owners retro fitting such digital clusters running some version of android, showing modes not even available in that car. Honestly it looks so out of place, given e60 dials are not something to write about but they are still infinitely better to the "Digital Garbage" that is being fitted into e60.
@justinbuice Bro in sports mode l my car doesn’t have that light affecting manual I have a 2019 440 id that something I have to code in cause that looks so cool bro I want mines to do it to

Agreed, the space in the middle is such a wasted space, I constantly uses my navi just so that space can be taken up, I wonder if bimmertech could eventually code some stuff to be there in the middle
@@marvij200 search for ACC retrofit f30 you will see someone in Russia on RUclips has done it before. That feature would make your car more futuristic and more like automatic driving kind of thing. Cool, and safe to do because it uses the Cruise Control of your car

I thought I wanted to upgrade my 6WA to the 6WB, but I won’t bother. Having the HUD, I just don’t look at the instrument cluster enough. An alcantara st wheel will be better value.
I personally love the bmw analog amber gauges. Would never want to change it. Put a dinan stage one tune and throw an aluminum charge pipe, intercooler and cold air intake on instead and if you do the labor yourself it’s around 2k. Those mods will change the fundamental driving experience of your car.
This is another case of BMW owners overhyping certain options that are in fact very average when compared to equivalents offered by other manufacturers. Everyone wants to have a fully optioned Bimmer and flex it, but that feeling is very short-lived with respect to some options. Those ones just aren't worth the cost and hassle when enjoying the damn car is what made us BMW fans in the first place.
the digital cluster in the 2019-2022 g20s is a much better improvment the 6wb deffo isnt worth it. weird thing is bmw is still including the 6wb in the base spec g20s
I had the 6WA in f30 320d and the fuel gauge was straight .. and now in my 440i the full digital its little bit crooked.. it took me while to get used to the fact that I have more fuel than it shows... but i have the 40i so anyway the fuel economy its even not close as 20d 😂
Hello there! Do you know if it is possible to swap the cluster on the sport version to the sport gp version on the 2015 320i? Mine has the needle and the little screen, thinkink into swapping it for the one that has the bigger screen below the analog dials..

I have the 6WB in my F30 as well and I think it looks way better than the analog ones. Sadly the center of the screen is not really useful. If have a head up display as well so it's never used at all. Just on start up you get the reminder to do the maintenance. Seems BMW just implemented it to tick a box.
Hey Justin, about the blank you talked about this cluster, you can have your car retrofitted with ACC (Active Cruise Control) and that blank will be filled up with a range between your car and the car infront
I love my gwb it’s such a fun upgrade for those who care about stuff. I think it’s probably the second biggest change that I made that made me not want to sell my car cause of it . I also like when the right side of the cluster changes when u want to change your music or radio station that’s a cool feature also the navigation in the center is cool too and like u said everything about when it changes to sport mode. Nice job on all your videos bro! Keep up the great content
the thing about virginizing the cluster. Actually in my country everybody does it, and when done right there is no difference between a new one and used one. They take the eeprom chip that is located on the main cluster board, reflash it to whatever VIN you need and reset the mileage to 0. The important thing if you are buying a cluster which hasn’t been virginized, be aware that if the mileage on the cluster is higher your whole car will automatically save the higher mileage and then you will have a lot of problems of correcting the mileage back to original. In short buying wiped 6wb is okay, but do check that it’s wiped before connecting it to the car.
Why aren’t BMW using OLED? The black levels and colours would look better with AMOLED screens. It makes more sense using AMOLED. Especially in the dark. Plus I think the graphics on the display could be much better too. 🤔
Last great cluster from BMW, which of course they completely fucked with the facelift of G11/G12. The newer gen is hideous and for whatever reason locked to 263kph regardless if the car can do 300-330kph. I mean, come on BMW, digital limiter, really? Great review of this one, it really upgrades the feeling of the interior over the default one
Yeah Im not a fan of the huge screen and hexagon shaped gauges on the current 3 Series. It’s like they are doing it because they can, not because they should
im trying to find a bmw 440i with 6WB, individual leather seats, instrument panel in leather, surround view, sport automatic gearbox, harman kardon sound system, m sport brakes, RWD. why its so hard to find? :((
In the 6wa when you hit the BC button on the indicator stalk it cycles through info like live milage, average milage, live digital speed (i use that one, cuz the digital speed looks best), date and a few map screens when navigation is on (and on some cars speed limit). I expected those to be the ones that are shown big in the middle, although now I see some of them have other places around the digital tacs. I agree that if there's almost always that big blank space in the middle, it seems less worth it, given the high price. The video was dope, though :P Looks good for cinematics, for a content creator it's a cool addition
i'm about to buy the BMW 640d 2016 LCI post-facelift with the digital cockpit, but I was under the impression that the middle part between the gauges is used to show you for example direction/when to turn information if you're using it navigation at the time? Is that not the case?
When I bought my F30 recently I did not even know I had the digital, true I am new to BMW nut took me a while and then saw the rpm number in focus, growing in size haha, Ohh well understood something is up. To be honest, for me personally I would never swap out analog gauges, I think at least. Personal preference but I don't have a problem with them, in sports/sports+ I like that it completely change up the graphics and now you can see right away, that is an advantage imho. Could easily live with either to be honest, I am simple that way, never get stuck on things, never need to justify what I have or do not have by saying never this/that, or want this/that at any cost? God points, perhaps I am just some average BMW owner but my demands are likely quite low too so?

Nokia 3310 sounds good to you? Since everyone is going for a smartphone it's cool to have the physcial keys and non color/touch screen.
Audi does digital gauges right. The screen is the key.

You can code a 6WA cluster to always show your gear always...some flash tunes do this (like MHD)
I did the gear number always shown as part of flashing XHP.

"In eco-mode they just could have displayed a live tire pressure" 😆
Why not? Tire pressure is a huge contributor to fuel economy.

Hey justin... Will a 6wb cluster work with 330e hybrid?
What is crank gear selection? I bought my car with the 6wb cluster on my f30
nothing BMW about them ... Bosch is a 3rd party fabricator... 😂
You realize that nearly every part on the entire car is made by a supplier, not by BMW themselves, right?
XHp trans tune will display the gear you are in, so 5th gear in Drive it will display “D5” instead of just “D”
I personally wouldn't get the digital cluster because I primarily daily drive in eco pro, and I hate the eco pro setting.

I honestly think that the 6WA is the best cluster for the F30’s. It’s digital and analog enough where to the point that it’s not tacky.

analong with the nav pro option so you get the screen at the bottom.
IMO the best of best worlds, the best you can get on f series.
Can a m4 f82 use this
Long story short: Useless lots of money spent ✌️
Does anyone know if 6WB digital display can fit into M4?
I don’t think so
Funny thing is I didn’t know it was digital until I change it to sport for the first time. 😂
The swole 💪🏾 numbers 🤯🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
My 440 I bought used already had it, my thoughts are I definitely like it better than the analog dash but I probably wouldn’t pay to retrofit it.

Why aren’t BMW using OLED? The black levels and colours would look better with AMOLED screens. It makes more sense using AMOLED. Especially in the dark. Plus I think the graphics on the display could be much better too. 🤔
They may be using it now. The cluster in the video has been around for a while
I really like mine. didnt think i would but its real nice
Does this cluster work in bmw f22 f23 ?
I don’t think you’re finding all that used, you got to sacrifice a couple things. I found my perfect spec and it took a while to find it.
Kinda off topic, but I love that Seiko Turtle SRP777!
I recently assembled one myself after collecting parts overtime and it’s awesome. :D
Thank you!!
Yes, if the car is equipped with nav
What year is ur f30
